Wentz is going to get killed behind this line.

No mobility and a slow processor. Not a good combo.

Murray was just standing there eating sacks when people were open.

At tbis point who cares. Bills are going to really dominate this team.

I’m not saying it’s the wrong decision just stating a fact. We’re on the verge of seeing another Max Brosmer game.

Det defense has been better as of late
GB scored 17 on them
We weren't going undefeated, but frustrating as that was a winnable game
Offense has to get a running game going
To me KOCs decision making was poor today
Kyler has not been good, a little dissapointing, but he was about 5th on list of reasons for losing today
There have been signs, but no consistency. He is still our best shot
They need to use him like Den uses Nix
Disappointing tackling today. Defense was on field for avg number of plays
No reason to be gassed. They made their backup look like Larry Csonka out there
You arent going to win many games giving 200 freaking yards rushing

After seeing KC, after getting their bell cow RB, and getting stuffed at the 1 yard line on the road, I will have to agree with those that say the Vikings also need a Pro Bowl guard to go with Taylor.

The plan:

1) get Pro Bowl guard (either off of Philly, Baltimore or anyone that is selling)
2) get Jonathan Taylor
3) start Wentz the beginning of December (preserve him by starting Murray or Brosmer until then)

The Vikings need a QB more than a RB.

What we need more than anything else is a coach that knows what he's doing. You could have probowlers
at every position. It won't matter with this idiot offense. Don't throw draft capital away at this point.
What good would it be? KOC would find a way to submarine whatever moves you make.

From ESPN:

The Vikings lost their first game of the season, scoring just 15 points against a Lions defense that had allowed 20-plus points five times in 2026.

The Vikings' 15 points are the fewest a team has scored against the Lions this season.

The seven-play, 69-yard drive seemed attributable in part to a defense that was on the field for 30 of the game's first 45 minutes.

I wanted that post to stand on its own. Now, let's address the other elephant in the room. Until KOC calls plays to enhance his offenses strengths, it all doesn't matter. I will die on this hill. He is a great culture building CEO type coach, but he SUCKS as an OC

Preaching to the choir here Jeff. Teasley needs to tell KOC he is the head coach, but needs to hire an OC to run the offense. KOC and his offense remind me of Chili and his kick ass offense. We need an OC that can mold the offense on what the players he has do best, not mold the players to do what he wants.....

Problem with bringing in a new OC (I assume your talking about next season) would O'Connell let the guy do his job or constantly be meddling? He'd probably be overruling play calls ect. O'Connell just needs to go away.

Punting with 3 min left and putting an exhausted defense back on the field that just got trucked on the previous 10 min drive. That was about as cowardly of a decision as it gets.

Sure JJ had cause to get upset on the sideline. But passing to him was actually a liability, or at least was not a good option: 10 targets, 33 yards.

It's a multi-step process for him to even catch the ball. First, it needs to be a pass play. Then Murray has to get the ball to him to have a chance to make a play. Then JJ has to make a tremendous catch.

Passes not in the same zip code prevent that process from working.

All with 4.6m in cap space. Brilliant.

That sounds like a recipe for record setting amounts of delay of game penalties. Fortunately, KOC has six timeouts per game to burn. Plus extra, err bonus, timeouts in overtime.

Absolutely. But, the game was over anyway. The O was not going to get the 1st down and the D was not going to force a 3 and out.

Even with a Det punt, no way in hell the O drives for a TD, especially with no timeouts.

Historically bad offenses do not have that capability.

IOW, yes go for it but realistically he could have just flipped a coin on whether to punt. Maybe resign as OC right then and there.

My .02

Defense Look amazing until the Lions finally committed to running the ball downhill and our guys started getting tired. missing tackles.

I can't believe how many tackles they were missing. The Lions were just refusing to go down, repeatedly.

That being said, I will NOT blame the defense for this loss.

1. Kyler Murray is clearly not the answer. The offence just has too many talented guys at the skill positions to be this ineffective. They need to bench Murray. I am not a fan of using Carons Wentz as a longer term answer but that may be the best answer at this point because at least he can run the offense.

2. Murray was missing wide open guys all game. Tripping up his own RBs. He just isn't getting it. He's had 5 games to improve and it just isn't happening. When your star WRs are both showing clearly visible signs of frustration it's time to make a change.

3. Another damning observation for me. By the end of the game the Detroit Defense had lost 5 starters to injury and two of its BEST players, and our QB didn't appear to be capable of taking advantage of that.

4. Will Reichard missing a FG was a bad omen imho for what was to come the rest of the day. Once again a LONG FG as the result of this ineffective offense grinding to a halt...AGAIN.

I have said it many time wrt to this team, with this defense, all we need is COMPETENT QB play, not Aaron Rodgers at MVP level play. We are not getting it. The gameplan is not a problem. Ball control, Keep the opposing offense off the field and your D rested, win the turnover battle, minimize stupid penalties. We got NONE of this in this game. The offense just has to be able to move the sticks consistently. And put a few TDs on the board. We don't need big chuck plays often. Just keep moving the sticks, eat up clock, get a lead and let the defense pin their ears back and attack.

Despite a terrilby played game in all phases we still had a chance to win this one, on the road. We aren't a bad team. We are literally halfway decent QB play away from being REALLY good.

Time to make the change KOC. Trade for a guy like Daniel Jones if you can, if not ride the tide with Carson Wentz and hope that's enough. One this is abundantly clear. Kyler Murray is NOT the answer, and he never will be. You keep sending that worthless piece of shit out there and you are slamming the window shut on what could be your best chance at a deep playoff run.

They really need to make Harrison Smith a situational (3rd and long player) player.

His lack of athleticism at this point in his career really pops, seems like he should helping to call the coverages, not playing.

Been saying it for a while....

KOC is not good. Passing on the short FG and the late punt were dumb moves.

Defense got gashed and gassed....almost felt like they just gave up....

Newsflash: Kyler SUCKS!! Wentz is a better passer, but zero mobility.

Gonna be another wasted season and no QBOTF on the roster. Good job, KOC.

And sorry Jettas, pout all you want. Your attitude helped run off JJM and we are now stuck with this shot show at QB.

Lastly, NFL officiating is a JOKE! St. Brown's catch was a catch! and the DET INT - was in NO WAY a catch. He trapped it on the ground. SMDH....

New season, same old shit....

And it wasn’t even his worst decision on that drive.

On a critical 3rd and 4, you call a quick easy play to get the first. Not another deep ball.

And you even only consider the deep pass on 3rd if you are convinced you are going for it on 4th.

He coaches like a 10-year old with ADHD playing Madden. It takes him 30 seconds to scroll through the playbook, when he’s just going to call for a bomb anyways.
