Change that Colts pick to the Cards and you might be on to something.

Jets are due. It is their win week. They have traded off win, loss, win, loss all season long.

Bill, I'll try to get them in sooner, just can't guarantee I'll be as bad every week . I got a little carried away picking upsets, thought there would be more of them. I've been posting them on Sunday so I'm up to date on everything. If I put them up early, and make a change before game time, so people think I'm trying to have it both ways, but really I'm just going with the prediction made closest to game time. To make it less confusing, I'm just posting one pick, and doing it close to noon on Sunday.

But teasers are easy to hit, amiright

It WOULD have been easy last week, all you needed to do was pick every home team except Jacksonville.

They are a different team on the road. And the vertical passing game of the Ravens is a bad, bad matchup.

Interesting that you picked AZ, too. I guess I can see Indy getting beat but then I'd take 'em next week for sure. He hasn't lost back-to-back games for a very long time. Heard that little nugget on Around the Horn

Marty, just messing with ya. No need to get your picks in early I quit betting on football a very long time ago. My dad and I learned some pretty expensive lessons. We always said that after we make all our picks we'd be better off betting oppo of them.

Picking NFL games is simply brutal. Evident by you and Brad's struggles. However, I comend you both for trying.

The Colts are a very flawed team. Their defense is average at best especially if you double Mathis. Even the offense, Luck can't do it all and without Wayne the others just aren't consistent though Fleener has stepped in recent weeks. Cards will man up their WRs easily with Peterson and Mathieu and force (sigh) Richardson and Brown to beat them. Plus Palmer is getting comfortable in Arian's offense.

NFL betting is never an easy proposition, I've been doing it since the age of 10, but have found it to be a little more challenging int he past 2 seasons. Usually you'll have 3 strong plays and 3 medium plays with 1 or 2 reaches for value. Out of 8 you'll have 3 that are locks never in doubt, 2 blow out losses and the other 3 could go either way. It's the those "either" way games that make or break you in any given year, you could count on 5 games a week at least that are like that.

Ricky

Considering the fact that I'm picking GB (-4.5) against Minnesota (and with much more confidence then I had of the Packers beating the Giants on the road, a lot of the reason for picking them was hoping the Pack would lose, my real favorite lock was really KC +8, and they lost by 10 to Denver), you might want to seriously consider picking MINNESOTA and making it a high number of confidence.

Bill, nice job last week, I believe you were 10-4.

I'm going to pick a few upsets this week, but will try not to get carried away picking too many of them.

Ricky, you might want to lower confidence points, I'm picking the Packers as my lock of the week.

My lock of the week is the Packers -5 against Minnesota, I'm taking them before I have to give up any more points (it started at 3). I'm going to keep taking the Packers until they cover a spread. I hope they don't cover a spread the rest of the year .

More insight from Marty...

The point spread is now down to -4...

but Marty got his "Lock" in at -5

Yes, JT, I not only predict games, but I am also good at predicting which way a point spread will go .

The game started at 3, went to 5, went down to 4 (so there was some betting on Minnesota that is pushing it back down). I wonder if the early bettors were anticipating Rodgers playing the game ? Now that we are almost certain Rodgers isn't playing, some bettors are going with Minnesota and the points.

I'm still taking GB -4 1/2 (through Brad's site), more to curse the Packers than my belief that it's the best lock (I'll also be posting my runner up). I"m going to keep picking the Packers as my lock until they cover a spread. Loving EVERY minute of it !

So if one teams wins by 4 you could actually win money betting on both teams?

That is correct Ricky. You would have needed to get GB -3 early in the week, and then bet on Minnesota +5 when it went to that. GB wins by 4 and you win BOTH bets, otherwise you lose one bet and pay juice.

What would have been much better, would have been if you lived in Vegas and saw Aaron Rodgers go down against the Bears. IF you could have gotten to a Casino before they closed the betting on the next weeks' game, you could have gotten NY Giants +10.5. The next day, it was a pick 'em, so you would then put money on the Packers straight up. IF the Packers had won that game by 10 or less, you would have won BOTH bets. But if that didn't happen (it did NOT, the Giants won), you end up winning one bet, but losing the other, and lose the amount of juice paid on that bet.

You should take it at -3, -5, and -4 1/2. Better odds for you that way.

How was Catching Fire?

Didn't know I was playing. I just recently spent a few minutes to figure out how moneyline works. I love it. I could easily lose my IPERS betting with it.

Catching Fire was awesome Ricky.

Ricky, you joined us a few weeks ago, and nailed one. Remember ?

NICE job on the Chi/St. Louis OVER BRAD ! Chicago now seems to be a great over team. I thought about that one as well, but didn't trust the St. Louis offense to put up points. We now have:

DrViking 4
Brad 2
Ricky 1
Marty 1

I'm going to keep picking the Packers until they cover a spread. I like the fact that they haven't had a win the last 4 weeks. So I've got the Packers against Detroit, whatever the spread ends up being.

I wonder if Matt Flynn will have another big day against Detroit ? This time it's at Detroit, and Flynn hasn't been with the Pack very long. He did look a bit better than Tolzien.

Just saw it. Sometimes (not often) something becomes very popular because it's very good. This is one of those rare times.

Cool. I enjoyed the first one and all the books. Didn't think the second one could be that good.

My 15 year old said it was really good with a weak ending.
