ND lost to Navy 23 - 21.

Clausen was 37 for 51 for 452 yards 2 TDs and 1 int.

ND turned the ball over 3 times inside the 5 and missed a couple of FGs is what I heard.

I did not watch it eiter.

I was watching Oregon get beat by Stanford.

Honestly - Charlie Weiss is a terrible coach and should have been fired years ago.  His only good move was recruiting this kid but they simply are not that talented.

452 yards and only 1 pick isn't that bad.  What did the rest of the team do?  Nothing?

Notre Dame, with about every game on national tv (not talking about cable) should have a HUGE recruiting advantage.

It used to...in the Lou Holtz days.  Remember the backfield of Brooks-Bettis-Watters?  That was one of the best of all time.

Weiss is a clown.

Every year there is that head scratcher didn't see it coming week. Well I feel this week is it. Thank heavens the Vikes are on a bye.

I am also in a position where I need to gain ground in the picks pool.
So I took some calculated risks this week, cause I unlike the leaders or experts with a rep, really have nothing to lose.

My against the grain picks are: Atlanta losing to Washington. SD beating the Giants,Houston over Indy, Tennessee over SF.

My blow outs that are toss ups to the group: Baltimore big over Cin. Philly big over Dallas. Pittsburgh big over Denver in Denver on Monday night.

My with the grain, but I played a small number and hope for the upset. Saints over Carolina(short week and Carolina could lay a blueprint on time of possession and running being the way to beat the Saints. Jacksonville over KC, although The Chefs could easily get a lead and run for the upset with Jamal Charles and Kolby Smith.

THE UGLY RECAP - LIL JOHN KICKED MY BUTT TODAY

Washington at Atlanta -
This has got to be the lock of the week.  ATL is angry after the big loss and Washington is toothless.  This one should not be close.  ATL 34-13
Closer than the final score but I was close ATL 31-17

Arizona at Chicago -
This is a real tough game to call.  Part of it may depend upon the weather.  Both of these teams are models of inconsistency.  The Cardinals win over the Giants looks far less impressive now.  The Cubs have been decent at home and terrible on the road.  I will go with the Cubs in a close one 24-21.
Waaayyy off on this one.  The Bears really folded up. Cards 41-21

Baltimore at Cincinnati -
This is another tough one.  The Ravens got their best win of the year last week and only second decent win.  I am still not convinced they are what they were at the end of last year.  The loss of McAlister makes this defense pretty average.  Even the Chefs put up 24 points on them.  The thing that causes me concern about picking the Bengals is that inexplicable loss at home to the Texans.  I guess I will give them one more shot.  Bengals 34-31
Flacco's worst game this year.  I guess I have to stop doubting the Bengals 17-7

Houston at Indianapolis -
I don’t see any way that the Colts lose this game.  I know the Texans are finally playing better ball and beat the 49ers and Bengals back to back.  But neither team is the Colts in their dome.  The Colts almost losing to the 49ers last week should be their wake up call.  Indy 28-17.
The Colts tried the Andy Reid school of play calling.  24-20

Miami at New England -
The Fish wins are over the Jets and Bills – whoopee.  The Pats are doing their usual of beating up on weak teams and folding when hit in the mouth (see Denver).  Since I don’t consider the Fish strong enough to hit them in the mouth I like the Pats.  Also, Bill B has to be steaming still over last year.  Pats 41-23
I thought the pats would do better but a win is a win.  27-17

Green Bay at Tampa Bay -
The Bucs are brutal.  The switch away from Leftwich made them non-competitive.  The young QB shows promise from time to time but this team is simply not competitive.  GB gets an easy win.  Pack 33-10
Lost my bacon on this one.  Wow!  The rookies took it to the Pack.  I feed bad for Craig Bucs 38-28

Kansas City at Jacksonville -
Battle of the dogs.  The Jags have been mediocre at home, as opposed to mostly bad on the road save one game, so I expect them to beat a bad team at home.  Jags 23-17
Pretty much nailed this one Jags 24-21

Carolina at New Orleans -
A lot of people are calling for the upset.  The Panthers finally seem to be playing better after a disastrous start.  They had a solid win over AZ last week.  However, just the week before they actually lost at home to the Bills by 11 points!  This game is basically their season because lose this and it is time to start thinking about the draft.  I could see them taking it to New Orleans early and playing inspired football.  But I just don’t think they have the horses to outgun the Saints.  Saints 37-27
Pretty much nailed this one Saints 30-20

Detroit at Seattle -
If KC-Jax is battle of the dogs then this is battle of the cockaroaches!  Even with Hassleback they have gotten smoked 2 weeks in a row.  Then you have the pussycats.  The lost to the Lambs last week….at home!  This is the moveable object meeting the resistable force!  Flip a coin.  I pick the home coackroach.  Seahags 13-10
Much higher scoring than I expected.  Collosal collapse by PUSSYcats 32-20
BYE WEEK COMING UP FOR VIKINGS NEXT WEEK

Tennessee at San Francisco -
The resurgent Titans against the better than expected 49ers.  I think the Titans have the type of offense that the 49ers can handle.  The Niners have lost 3 in a row but improved play in each game and were real close to the Colts.  I like them to turn back the Titans in this game as I am not sold on the Titans having joined the 2009 season yet.  SF 23-20
Way off on this one.  Is it the Vince Young factor?  Or are the 49ers simply not that good?  Titans 34-27

San Diego at NY Giants -
Big game for two struggling teams that were expected to compete for the SB this year.  The Chargers have lost to every good team they played this year and struggled to beat the Raiders twice.  The g-Men (little g) are falling apart at the seams.  Each loss has gotten worse.  However, Tom Coughlin is a good coach and I think he rallies his team this week because a loss really dampens their future.  NYG 27-23
I was close on this but the G-Men folded in the clutch.  This one clinches it for Lil John - Chargers 21-20

7-4

I predict that, based on past precedent, Mike McCarthy has his dog sleep indoors for the rest of the week.  And by "week," what I really mean is "season."

After which it won't matter, because he probably won't be taking up residence in Green Bay any longer at that point.

I hope not, there might be some real coaches on the market this offseason. I hope he stays, they deserve each other.

I also tend to think TT and fat boy are a "package deal". By that I mean they really are a couple of "packages".

I think you're gonna win again this week John!  Though you both picked the Pats-Colts game wrong!  :)

The only difference I would agree with the little man is Cincy over Pittsburra.  Otherwise, you're golden.

Harvin has HUGE week with THREE TDs, but Lions give Vikes a scare!

Vikes 37
Lions 31

I think Percy Howard will get TWO returns for TDs AND one recieving TD.  Favre will fumble and give the Lions a defensive TD.  Vikes will ALSO get a defensive TD.

Lions will have the ball at the end, and the Vikes will luck out as Lions ALMOST score a go ahead TD at the end.  It will have a similar feeling that the Vikes lucked out like against Baltimore.

No doubt!  Lil John's favorite player is Adrian Peterson bar none!

Peterson's jersey is the first and only NFL jersey I have ever purchased.  Actually I had to buy 2 because he wore the first one out.

Looks like we tied this week so we have to go to MNF points
