I don't know about that....I think Toby G is a decent backup running back and I am willing to bet, unless someone wants to sign him as a starter...he will be in Minnesota for quite awhile.  JMO.  See Jimmy K!

Who is the best career backup running back, and how long was he with the Vikes? Gerhart isn't bad as a backup, but he will sign with some other team at some point. Not many guys are happy being a career backup and that's what he'll be here. JMO.

Moe Williams 9 years

When I was looking up how many years Moe played with us...this notorius link came up which pretty much ended Moe's career.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_Minnesota_Vikings_boat_cruise_scandal

I hadn't read this tidibit before:
"An anonymous former player of the Minnesota Vikings claimed that this is not the first time that such an incident had happened."

Other things of note:

Stephen Doyle, attorney for the charter company, said some of the sex acts alleged by witnesses to have taken place during the party included, "Masturbation, oral sex, anal sex, woman on man, woman on woman, man on man, toys, double penetration, middle of the floor, middle of the couches, middle of the room."

The cleaning crew reported finding "used condoms, K-Y Jelly, Handi Wipes, wrappers for sex toys" and said "it was just incredible how it was left. Never in the history of this group of people have they ever had anything like this.'"

Now he was versatile.

Dang could that guy de-cleat a blitzing LB!

I still remember him doing it to Urlacher. Thing of beauty.

You were using game 1 wins to justify your season ending prediction. As such, teams that win their first game but don't make it to the Super Bowl is exactly on point.

No, not really. Had the teams I predicted to be in the SB lost the 1st week, based on the past, I would have thought that greatly reduced the likelihood either one would win the SB.

If you're going to look at teams that win their 1st game but don't win the SB, then you'd have to make a comparison with teams that lose their first game and don't win the SB. IF you lose your 1st game, the likelihood of you winning the SB goes down quite a bit when you consider that only 8 of 46 teams have done that.

What's the stat for teams that win their first game, but get destroyed in their second, making the Super Bowl?

Just wait until the end of the year, was the point. Saying things are lining up perfectly after one game is hubris.

IMO, Gerhart is not a great compliment to Peterson because he is not good in areas where Peterson is weak

Gerhart seems mostly invisible when Peterson plays, to me. He does seem to be good at filling in when Peterson can't go.

They used Harvin really well in the backfield last game and still got him involved in the passing attack. Musgrave deserves some credit from me, as I'm usually not happy with him in that regard. Let's see if he can keep that fresh all year.

Vikings 27, Colts 21

I'll stick with my running headline for the Colts this season........."It takes more than Luck to win in the NFL."

The Colts have very few weapons around Luck. If the Vikings don't win this game, I will be disappointed.

TwoPick isn't a change of pace, if that's what you want. I think he's a good backup for Peterson because I don't think plays and blocking assignments need to change when substituting TwoPick for AD.

I also think that he could be used to wear down the defense, when AD's not in the game, because one thing he does share with AD is they both have a punishing style of running.

I agree though, he's not a true compliment. IMO a compliment would be much more of a change of pace. IMO the best compliment to AD is Percy.

Another? Don't you need one before you can ask for "another"?

I predict the niner game will be closer than most think. The Vikes will have a chance to win it late.

You're missing the point. I'm comparing winning the 1st week and winning the SB, versus losing the 1st week and winning the SB. If you're team wins the 1st week, a MUCH better chance they'll be in the SB. If you throw out the teams that won the SB the year before, the % of teams that won the 1st week and then won the SB is even greater.

Things are lining up perfectly in the sense that almost every team I expected to win, and with respect to where I had them ranked (the final predicted record), lined up well with whether or not they won or loss. I guess I should have explained that a little more clearly.

Now, on Thursday I thought the Bears would lose in GB, but not so convincingly. That is NOT good with regards to my predictions because I had the Bears going all the way to SB to lose to the Broncos. The way Cutler lacked confidence has me really wondering if they can get past SF, GB or even several other teams in the NFC playoffs. Perhaps I should have went with SF-Denver ? I agree it's too early tell, but I think it's fun to guess and speculate.

I wish more people had made predictions, we could have more of a discussion at the end of the year about what you thought would happen, and maybe what helped or prevented that from happening. I think that is fun. If you don't think is fun, I would rather you just ignored than finding it an avenue to criticize at moment's notice.

1 vs Jacksonville W
2 @ Indianapolis L
3 vs San Francisco L - could be a lopsided loss
4 @ Detroit W upset win
5 vs Tennessee - W
6 @ Washington L - disappointing loss after 3-2 start
7 Vs Arizona W bounce back win
8 vs Tampa Bay L - disappointing loss in final seconds
9 @ Seattle L -
10 vs Detroit W
11 BYE WEEK
12 @ Chicago L lopsided loss
13 @ Green Bay L
14 vs Chicago L
15 @ St. Louis W
16 @ Houston L lopsided loss
17 vs Green Bay W A win over Packer backups

Looks like I was one of the few who picked the Colts this last week. I figured the Vikes would have a harder time scoring TDs still being without Simpson, it's always tougher to run on the road, and I figured Luck would put up a few TDs and want to earn his 1st victory, and would get it at home. I figured if the Vikes didn't get some hits on Luck early, Luck would win the game.

I think the season could play out EXACTLY as I predicted it for the Vikes, but we'll have to see. I had predicted wins at Detroit and St. Louis because I figured in both cases the Vikes would be coming off bad home losses, and would maybe be on a 2 or 3 game losing streak.

-----------------

After seeing Cutler fall apart against GB (I thought Chicago would lose that game, but I thought it would be closer), I'm not sure that picking the Bears to go all the way to the SB was such a good a idea. Originally I had Frisco, then changed it to Chicago, figuring that Alex Smith wouldn't come through in the clutch, but Cutler is probably just as unreliable. I had also changed from NE to Denver for the AFC. The switches were done before the season started, a constant battle with logic and gut. We'll see how it plays out.

I can see this happening, but it's still a long shot IMO. If Harbaugh has his team under control, they should come in and systematically eat our defense alive and steal our offenses milk money...

Still, on any given Sunday...

If they let us hang around we could steal this one, but it's a helluva long shot IMO.

Yup. I hope they still hit eight wins but they definitely dropped one yesterday.
