We'll probably counter that move by extending Mikko for 4 more years.

And just in case anybody is worried about it......we will be sure to a no trade clause too!

But he's our Captain!

The Core of the team!

And our Core has long since turned to Rotten Apples full of seeds...

I wonder if it works, .... when the tension is highest ... and everyones itching on the games biggest face-off, and here coasts Mikko, hands wide on stick, skates crunching the ice, he glides into the dot, and growls under his breath ... "I used to win all of these, fellas!"
Just wonderin

I used to love watching those Red Wings teams that he captained to championships. Zetterberg and Datsuk were so dominant when they were in their primes!

His game reminded me a lot of Stevie Y, my favorite player. He wasn't spectacular at any one skills, but he was really good at everything. Back injuries are monsters.

I hated it because I have severe sports envy. It's why I can't stand the Patriots/Pens ect....

It was those Red Wings teams that got me back into watching the NHL damn them! When the North Stars left us I only watched college hockey for many years, even once the Wild came into existence. I caught a little of their early run, but knew it was a mirage so the NHL didn't really stick until Zetterberg and company came along. Loved the way they played the game even though they weren't really my team.

I hear ya. I had a Wild hat 2 years before they hit the ice. I was all in. Once the North Stars left I was devastated. I didn't really watch much NHL until the Wild came about. I respected the Wings but hated them out of jealousy. It mostly manifested when the fake Stars cheated their way to a cup. That was supposed to be us

Same, guys
Always pulled against the Wings, but respected the hell out of their game.
One of the first teams that people misjudged a lot ... they are looked at by many as soft and fast and talented, which they were, but their biggest asset was they could play however they needed to.
Much grittier than people thought.
Teams tried to intimidate them, and it never worked. They were like some of the other sports dynasties teams we relate to. People thought the 49ers were soft ... nope. Same for Pats.
Always willing to cut off their own arm if needed. Or an opponents, if needed.

HAWKS TONIGHT!!! I know it's only a preseason game, but I miss Hockey more than I miss eating Snickers bars, which is a lot.

Nice!

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Carolina Hurricanes will look like the old Hartford Whalers for a pair of games against an old New England rival.

The Hurricanes unveiled green throwback Whalers uniforms Thursday on Twitter and said they will wear them when they play host to Boston on Dec. 23 and when they visit the Bruins on March 5.

The franchise played 18 NHL seasons in Hartford before moving to North Carolina in 1997. New owner Tom Dundon has embraced the Whalers history eschewed by his predecessor, Peter Karmanos Jr.

Since Dundon bought the team in January, the team has begun selling Whalers merchandise in the gift shop and planning the turn-back-the-clock game.

Watch some of the other teams behind-the-scenes stuff if you can on NHL network.
Fun to see the process.
Love these shows with all the access.
Gabriel trying to catch on for the Devils, didn't go so well.

Tom Wilson should be banned from the league. You do that in a preseason game? Get rid of him.

Damn, the Capitals look awesome
Fun to see them whip the hell out of Marchand the rat and his buddies.
Fun pregame stuff, just cannot believe the state of MN has never and probably never will, experience that ... sad really. Depressing.
If any place in the states deserves that type of enjoyment from their sports biggest reward, it's this place.
And right now it feels like we are farther away than ever.

Great story

Sad that in this day and age, there are still Neanderthals walking the planet like those in the Chicago incident.

CRAZY start to the league
Almost every game goes to OT
Lost of excitement in many places.
While some are weirdly quiet
People in Detroit HOCKEYTOWN are coming to games dressed as empty seats I see.

I don't get what's happening in detroit. The Hawks are not looking like they will see the playoffs this year, and people still seem to be excited about the season. Maybe when Stevie Y takes over the wing's front office, things will change for them. But, you have to be better fans if you want to call yourselves Hockeytown and all that other stuff. It was opening night, for crying out loud! P.S., the Hawks won in ot. go hawks...

I've always liked the caps, but damn, they are even "funner" to watch now that the pressures off.
They are a load.
Tough enough, strong enough, fast enough, mean enough, talented enough, they just get what it takes.
Fun to watch right now
Pounded the Knights in the rematch last night

The Caps now have REAL swagger
Borne from heartache
The Avs will probably experience the opposite this year
Expectations will tear them up from inside

WHen you watch the Wild it seems like there are several times a game where you want to scream "Why is nobody out front to slam a shot?" The Caps always seem to have Ovechkin out front waiting to hammer a missile at the goalie.
