So sad to live here ...and love good hockey
Because that game last night between the Caps and Ning was an instant classic
If those two face off in the post season, it'll be EPIC
No game on the planet comes close, imo … when played at that level.

Yep and their fans are saying things like "man, we need to get it together. the Caps actually owned us. we got lucky".

We'd be yelling "Doooobs" from the tops of mountains if we won that game last night like that.

Pretty much says it all.
At least we have the playoffs to watch some real hockey

And people here still think I'm a dope for adopting a team every year for the playoffs

Why quit on a season, just because your home team sucks, and sits out the best time of the year?
Go Patriots!
Go Yankees! Or SF Giants!
Go Caps, or Ning, or Sharks!

Same with me, SoMn. I love hockey and don't stop watching because my team is bad. I usually pick any Original 6 team (other than the wings) and ride out the playoffs with them. It's too great of a sport to miss the playoffs just because your home team wet the bed and didn't make it.

Personally, I enjoy the playoffs more after the Wild are out of it. LOL
I have to agree with you guys though....just because my team isn't good enough doesn't mean I should not watch the best hockey there is.

30 years ago today, the most frightening injury in sports happened in Buffalo.
Clint Malarchuk. Saw it then and it still haunts me to this day.
Rarely a day goes by when i don't think about it.
300 stitches in his neck.
Returned and played 6 games later. 6 games. He was a HOCKEY PLAYER.

Love that the training staff took the appropriate action to save his life.

Literally and truly … saved his life. Right on the spot
Massive event that no one had prepared for
Changed many peoples lives that day.
Its an unwritten thing in hockey that you do not talk about it ... but its so incredibly fragie, that this could truly happen on every shift in every game, and it just never really does, thank God or someone or something.

Clint had a golden horse shoe on his person that day. Anyone who gets their carotid cut usually dies pretty quick. Modern medicine and a quick response by trainers and doctors saved his life. Something similar happened to Zednik a few years later, but the Malarchuk incident was the one that terrified me for a while.

Well, we are officially out of the playoffs. Not the best season, for sure, but some of the youngsters look promising.

Very similar to our situation
DeBrinkat and Caggiula, Anisimov, etc
Gilbert and Gustaffsson on the back end.
You've got some running on fumes, and some really nice young pieces starting to show up.
Which sucks for us. Because somehow your guys will figure it out before we will. Again. And again. And again.

The Blues setting records.
Close to being the First team to go from being the worst in the league at the turn of the calendar, to a division winner.
The turnaround there is amazing. Berube is really good, and the guys they pay to win games are winning them games.
Found a young goalie who's figured it out, and they just overwhelm you.
People laughed at them early on, they were so bad. Not a great roster, but they play the right way now.
Almost every NHL team is capable of this kind of run, but very few ever do it.

So it begins
Without us

Columbus vs Tampa Bay
Seems easy to predict
I'd like to see the Ning run thru this thing.
But that rarely happens.
This series should be cut-and-dried tho.
Tampa in 5

Pittsburgh vs NY Islanders
Can you ever really pick against the Pens?
I'd like to, but its not smart.
Only way this happens is by HIA
Isles in 6

Carolina vs Washington
Pretty solid season for the defending champs.
I see no reason for them to not go deep again.
Sure hope Caps/Ning happen
Good on Carolina to finally get back in, even tho its not a hockey hotbed.
Caps in 5

Toronto vs Boston
Bruins have been almost unbeatable at times.
They've built a powerhouse there, unfortunately.
Toronto has quietly gotten back in, but they seem disjointed.
Hoping Marchand gets skunked
Bruins in 6

St Louis vs Winnipeg
Pretty crazy that the Blues can be this good this long .. and still travel for the series
Potential here to be one helluva show
Jets are solid everywhere, but somethings not right most nights
Blues just seem unbeatable most nights, lots of breaks on top of some great resurgences by their key players
This ones a virtual toss-up imo
Jets in 6

Dallas vs Nashville
The one series I'd like a meteor to fallon please
It will be good hockey, just played by two jackwagon teams in front of jackwagon fans
Neither deserves a good team, but both have them
Nashville added to an already-good team,, but it isn't clicking perfectly.
I get the feeling Dallas believes more than Nashville does.
Dallas in 7

Las Vegas vs San Jose
Hoping my Sharks have one last run in them.
Doubting it tho. They looked tired down the stretch.
Goaltending huge here, both teams wondering ...
IF the Sharks are rested and Karlsson can go 100%, they're good If not ...
Vegas also seems to have some really bad nights.
Sharks in 7

Colorado vs Calgary
The Avs irritate me, always have.
Clagary has slowed down, and cannot take the Avs lightly.
When the Avs aren't good, they're lucky. Its a tough combo to beat.
Hoping sanity prevails here.
Flames in 6

I don't like those odds for Tampa and the Caps. Both to slanted in the wrong direction, IMO.

One of the best days of the year!
NHL Playoffs start!
2 months of having something to watch every night.

AKA ….. 3 nightly hours of me hoping someone will re-arrange Brad Marchands ugly little puss.

A question for my hockey buddies. If the Hawks offer the third overall pick and either Seabrook or Keith, would that be enough to trade for a top tier first line defenseman like Karlsson or someone similar?

INCREDIBLE first night

Nothing better

My Sharks were rolling baby
Jets got tough draw (hehehehe)
Dallas might get those clowns.
And of course TB drops the opener. It was inevitable.

Afraid those two might jusssssssst be over the hill a tad, no?
Two years ago, yep.

Seeing Karlsson and Burns together just makes me drool.
INCREDIBLE to have a difference maker back there like that.
They've got Spurgeon skill, in HUGE bodies.

Agree. That would smell like a salary purge if I were a GM on the other side of that deal. 3rd overall should do it alone.
