The Avs in OT was about right. They sure looked like the faster and more aggressive team last night. The Lightning are in for a dog fight if they are going to 3-peat.

The Bolts are looking old and slow, and Vasilevskiy looks like he would let in a beach ball........
Not what I was expecting to see tonight.

Wow, 7-0 final score....I quit watching at 5-0.
As much as I hate to say it, it looks like the Avalanche is rolling down hill now and there is nothing the Lightning can do to stop it.

So we now have 1 OT game, and 2 blowouts--one for each team.
Tomorrow, another close one? If the Bolts tie it up tomorrow night I wouldn't bet against them even thought the Avs are the more talented team every place except the most important....goalie.
Bolts need to get a lead early in order to stay in this one in my book.

The ā€œoffsideā€ heard around the world changed the entire dynamic of the series IMO. I know the Avs scored first anyway but that gave Tampa a chance to breathe. That whole arena was dead until they said no goal. It was that ā€œhere we go againā€ feel.

I thought the same thing, Jeff. I think it was the right call, though. They looked at it forever before they called it because they understood the gravity of taking that goal off the board.

I have to admit, when that first "no goal" went in I was one of those that thought here we go again......
After seeing the review a few times, I agreed with the "no goal" call and was damn glad an NHL ref actually made a good call for a change.
It did completely change the momentum of the game.

Oh yeah, I should have said that when I posted. It was absolutely the right call and you have to give Cooper and his staff a ton of credit. He said during the break that they didn't have an angle that showed but rather went with a gut call. That puck was a nano-second from being dropped when he did.

Yup, I was surprised as heck to see them face off without any review or anything. I thought once the goalies mask is off the whistle is blown and play is over........

Unless of course it was back in the days of Gump Worsley.

They said that itā€™s up to the ref if thereā€™s an immediate scoring opportunity. My problem with that is that it was only an immediate scoring opportunity because the guy used his stick to break Keumperā€™s mask. It wasnā€™t on purpose but that reeked of ā€œhome ref advantage ā€œ

Home ref advantage didn't pay off in the end.....more like the usual bad NHL refs.
Looks like this is the Avs year after all. I don't see the Bolts coming back from 1-3. They will be lucky to make it past tonight and bring another game home.

The hockey gods are with the Avs. They are getting every lucky bounce available. But the Bolts are making them earn it that's for sure.

Imagine that......tonight the refs make the correct call on too many men on the ice.

During the 2022 NHL playoffs Darcy Keumper was the 3rd best goalie by stats. Our new Flower was #15. Just pointing that little tidbit out.

LOL.
I kept thinking if only the Bolts could get a few more good shots on Keumps they were in the game.....problem was they couldn't
I sure hope Flower decides to go play else where, because I'm afraid Billy will waste badly needed cap space on him if it's up to him.

Yeap. I hated it at the time but it will really sting if we bring him back. That experiment failed.

Blah, blah, blah.....the season is just starting and thanks to the Athletic I'm already sick of hearing about Bedard. Time for him to play some NHL games and prove it now......

I get it. He's been the "savior" of hockey since he was 12. I'm actually more happy about beating the penguins in the opener. It might be the only game the Hawks win this year!

The NHL is expanding to 34 teams. The Coyotes are moving to Salt Lake City. The two expansion teams will be Atlanta and Phoenix.
