Aamzed that Dale Hunter turns down the Caps gig.
Love his reasons tho ... running his JR team and also farming with his bros.
Dudes got a great life.
Still ... damn hard to turn down an NHL gig ...   even if you have to battle Ovie next year. (that situation could get u-g-l-y)

Lundqvist is just out of his mind right now.
Brodeur looks old.
Rangers have been in 14 straight playoff games where neither team has scored more than three goals.
Thats shut-down defense.
This one may be over early.

Yeah, I can't believe that either. WOW. Great point on OV8. I swear on my soul. I was watching game 7 with a buddy who is from DC. Huge, and legit, Caps fan. When it was over I asked him "how long until OV8 gets ugly?".

It's damn odd our thoughts cross so often

I'm going to start calling Lundqvist the "black hole". He's the anti-Universe.

Anyone ever rolled like this Kings team?
Unreal.
8th seed on one hell of a roll. Unheard-of territory.

It is unheard of.

We had a nice run, like they did, but every game we played was uber tight. They are just bitch slapping teams. I can't think of another team in any sport that has done this.

At this point, I'll be shocked if they don't sweep Phoenix.

A perfect example.

Watch PHX play. They are damn right afraid of them. They can't even get it deep because they are afraid of the counter.

Well said
Its an amazing thing ... an 8 seed DOMINATING
Bitch slapping is perfect as well ...

And you are right ... its because their flow is so good right now, their opponents feel like they are playing against 7
You become afraid to move, afraid to pass, afraid to break out, afraid to play.
Its MO in its highest form.

And sometimes, you cannot stop it.

And why, oh why, oh why ..... can a MN team NEVER experience it?
Sustained, anyway?
'98 Vikes ... close
'92 Twins ... close
(yes, '92... tthey were better than the '91 squad)

As you say ...our magical Wild ride years ago was seat-of-the-pants stuff, not domination

The guys on ESPN radio pointed out that the 8th seed designation was a bit deceiving because the difference in wins between the 1st and 8th seeds amounted to just one win per month.

Point is ... they almost didn't get in to start with
have been playing playoff style hockey longer than the others
Thats helped them
All that said .... NO expert picked them at the start fo the playoffs to still be here.
They're lying if they said they did.

Yeap. That's a case of the pundits trying to sound smart right now. Nobody in their right mind would have picked them to get this far.

Hell, most of us didn't pick them to make the playoffs at the start of the year. If people did, it was a lucky guess or blind homerism because it certainly wasn't based off of history or past performance.

Seeing Sykora and SOS on the Devils has my mind wandering a bit.

Has there ever been any rumblings about our org not being a healthy place for guys that come from the former Czech republic?

If you look at the guys that have been outspoken about how great MN is have either been:

A. American (Rolston and the MN homers)
B. Canadian (Madden, Bruno, Burns ect...there's been a lot)
C. Fins (Mikko, Backs)

All the guys from the Czech area have pretty much bolted when they had the chance. Sure, a lot of them signed as FA's but they seem to go quickly. And a couple have been vocal about it sucking:

Gaborik
Dimetra
SOS
Sykora

Maybe I'm making it up but it seems tilted for sure.

Kings just keep finding a way.
Kopitars a beast
Some mighty friendly refereeing last night too
Fun to see Willie Mitchell plugging away. Guys been a pro for a long time.

I see "Prickly Torts" showed up at the post-game presser the other night. Sore-ass loser.
He gets his boys to play hard, but man, he can be a jackass.
