So weird to see Mike Babcock on the Leaf bench. Odd.

Yeah, I'm still shocked about that move.

Heard an incredible fact last night .....
There are currently over 120 guys still working out, who played at least one NHL game last year, and who do not have contracts to play this year.
Unreal competition for spots, and it gets crazier every year.

The latest twist to the Kane situation from the Strib....

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The lawyer for a woman alleging she was sexually assaulted by Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane said Wednesday that an empty evidence bag was improperly left in the doorway of the woman's mother's home.

Thomas Eoannou said the bag at one point contained the rape kit used when the woman reported that she had been assaulted.

"Something seriously has gone amiss," Eoannou said.

Eoannou said the mother made the bizarre discovery when she came home from work for lunch on Tuesday afternoon. She found the bag folded up between a storm door and her front door, he said.

"It could have been there a day and a half," he said, because the woman used the back door when she left for work that morning.

He said the bag is authentic, labeled with personal identifying information for the woman, details on where the rape kit was used and the initials of the nurses who administered the kit.

"I have never seen an evidence bag outside of a police lab, a prosecutor's office or a court room, let alone find one in a doorway of a rape victim's mother's home," he said.

Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita did not immediately return a message seeking comment from The Associated Press.

Eoannou said he wants the FBI or state police to probe how the bag left the custody of investigators. It's not clear how the bag got to the mother's home or what effect it may have on the investigation, he said.

"We're hoping to find out how this happened and who had the incentive to modify or tamper with the evidence," he said. Eoannou said he hoped the person who delivered the bag would come forward.

Police have been investigating since the alleged Aug. 2 incident at Kane's offseason home in suburban Buffalo. Kane has not been charged.

Kane's attorney, Paul Cambria, declined comment earlier in the day when asked about Eoannou's decision to hold a news conference.

Kane did not travel to Detroit with the rest of his team for Wednesday's Blackhawks game against the Red Wings, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because Kane's travel plans were not publicly announced

Better Black Hawks news: Seebs is a Hawk until he retires. He got a huge extension on Saturday. I'm not the biggest Seabrooke fan, but he's a reliable defensive partner with Keith.

San Jose Sharks left winger Raffi Torres has been suspended 41 games for an illegal check to the head and interference committed during a preseason game Saturday.

He was ejected with 7:15 left in the first period for his hit on Anaheim Ducks left winger Jakob Silfverberg, who did not return to the game.

Torres has played just 12 regular or postseason games the past two seasons because of knee injuries.

Chronic head Hunter.
Very ballsy move by the league.
Half a season suspension.
Setting the tone perhaps.

Good move by the league. The only person who won't learn from the suspension is Torres. He'll cheapshot someone within ten games of his return. Being a goon is in his blood.
On a happier note, the season is starting very soon, and DirectV is giving us NHL Center Ice for two weeks!

And it's not a banned substance already??!!

Last month, a Toronto Maple Leafs prospect named Viktor Loov told a Swedish news outlet that “there is a lot of cocaine” in the NHL.
“There are players everywhere who do it,” he said, via Pension Plan Puppets. “If you have money you probably have easy access.”

How much cocaine? Enough that the NHL has been forced to acknowledge that more than a few players are using it, and that the League might have to be more proactive in testing for it.

That's embarrassing.

Kind of like when Ryan Braun was introduced in the first game after serving a one year suspension for PED's, after totally embarrassing himself, the franchise, the fans, and throwing the man who collected his sample under the bus ... they gave him a standing ovation.

I heard they are also consider banning stabbing someone with a ninja sword in OT and poisoning the opponents pregame meals with arsenic.

You really have to wonder how that's not already illegal. A sport that's 1000 MPH and you "allow" coke????

Great game last night.
Hawks are something else.
Lost one hell of a lot of punch, and yet ...
Jonathon Toews is Aaron Rodgers.
As long as they still have him, they will be elite.
When the Hawks put their best five on at the end of games and they need a goal, the puck will end up in the net.
No matter who they play. It just is, what it is.
Rangers are outstanding in their own end, and yet the will of the Hawks just took over with the goalie pulled.
No other team passes/handles that well, in tight spaces. Hate em but they are amazing to watch.
