Shocking

The woman who accused Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane of rape has told authorities that the high-profile investigation has caused tremendous stress for her and her family, and that she no longer wishes to participate.

According to a report in The Buffalo News, the alleged victim signed a document called an “affidavit declining prosecution,” which is now under consideration by District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III.

Sedita will ultimately make the call on whether the case goes forward or not, but sources told The News that he has decided not to present evidence of the allegations to a grand jury for possible indictment. And that, according to SI.com legal expert Michael McCann, almost certainly ends the potential criminal case against Kane.

So Kane is off, and gets to run his rope out some more, until the next time.

Kings and Blues tonight.
Betting the Blues won't be throwing haymakers from the start in this one.
Hoping Ott gets carted off. Yeah. I said it.

Blues have allowed three goals in three games.
We got two of em.

Like I said .... Blues youngster gets all shovey with a King, ends up with a bloody mouth.
That's how you're supposed to respond.

And .... What's this?
Reaves acts like an ass, and the refs put him in the box. How odd. Like it's supposed to happen.

And now Reaves knocks a few of Kopitars teeth loose.
Hitchcock needs his fat ass tuned up one of these days.
Most teams don't employ six thugs like the Blues do. How innovative.

3-0 good guys win this one.
Great fast-paced game.
Interesting how the Blues respect teams like LA.
No cheap shit once the game got tight and late, and nothing cheap after it went to 3-0.
Hmmmm, it appears they have some anger built up agin us ....
Swear Backes will put someone in a wheelchair before he ever gets a penalty.

For Jeff .... This game reinforced the fact that we have JAG.
LA could have scored six if not for Allen.
Blues were stymied by LAs backup, Enroth, who is outstanding.
LA is goalie rich. They've won 7 of 8.

Unfortunately this is why so many rapists get away with it - because the system and our society make it so horrible for a woman to go through what it takes to prosecute that many simply choose not to or, like in this case, begin the process and then go through such horror that they back out.

Granted that in some cases false accusations are made and we will probably never know what the truth is in Kane's case, but the bottom line is that it is a crime that goes without punishment WAY too often.

Hear hear.
Sad stuff in the end.
I'll never feel bad for KandyKane, but you can literally see it taking its toll.
He's not the same personality-wise ... ( not a bad thing).
Let's hope it's humbled him if nothing else.

Sad to see McDavid go out hard last night.
Kids the real deal.
Took a helluva spill and toughed it out, even thru a painful broken collarbone.
Had already become the NHLs new face.

Doc Emmerick just used "probing, probing," when describing Patty Kane's zone entry.

Damn, Jake Allen is one solid goalie right now.
Thank god the Blues aren't as good as they've been, or he'd make them unbeatable right now.
Chicagos throwing it all at him and he's standing tall. On a night he planned to watch.

Watched the 1st period of Hawks vs Blues. Is that NHL hockey these days? 7 goals in a period? Looked like a Mites game.

Please God no.

I caught the 3rd period and OT. The Hawks looked tired towards the end of that game. On the plus side, a lot of their younger guys are getting some heavy minutes right now. The defense misses Keith in a big way, though.

Do any of you remember Peter Hayek from the Gophers and North Stars in the 70's? I'm trying to talk to him about something not related to hockey.

Congrats to Mr. Phil Housley on his HOF induction.

What a skater. Scotty Bowman even had him play center here and there very early in his NHL career. From high school to the pros and never looked back.

And Wooger was his high school coach. Doug lost some gut wrenchers in the high school tourney at South Saint Paul and unfortunately that mojo followed him to the U it seems in hindsight. But a great guy, love the Wooger.

One of the most-amazing transitions ever ... for Housley to go directly from school-boy to the NHL.
THE GUY WAS THE SECOND STAR OF THE VERY FIRST NHL GAME HE PLAYED IN.
Let that sink in.
His teammates thought he was 13. Not joking. Until he played, then they all were shocked. Was a man from Day One.
Once again ... an amazing transition. Just wasn't done and still isn't.

I remember the North Stars had the first over all pick in that draft and everyone celebrated that they won the Brian Bellows sweepstakes.
