Apparently we can't stop fourth and long, but we can force turnovers. Whew. Nice win for the maroon and gold.

Kind of interesting that when Liedner was in, we had hard time running but when Nelson came in, the holes were there. I'm assuming with Nelson they honored the passing game more

Hageman woke up today and played great.

They played pretty inspired, overall. Hageman is awesome.

I don't know where the next win comes from. It was a good win on the road, but let's face it Northwestern isn't good and two of their best players were out today.

Agreed. Bad team outplayed bad team.

We look "ok" against mediocre teams and "terrible' against good. How is that "moving the program forward?

No shit, I hated Glen Mason's teams but I wish we still had him.

It's so refreshing to see a Gophers offense that looks competent. Nelson is out there directing traffic, calling plays at the line, reading the defense and changing things up as needed. Honestly, I don't remember the last time I've seen a Gophers QB capable of this.

Huge break for the Gophers there. At regular speed, I was frustrated the refs called it a late hit. But upon replay, he really did unnecessarily drive him into the ground 5 yards out-of-bounds. Refs threw the flag.....and then picked it up.

Got away with another one on the very next play.

Not gonna matter. Looks like Nebraska will score a TD on this drive anyway.

Why allow the Nebraska band in the stadium? Did they save seats for them? Never been to TCF or any other DI football stadium. Is that normal?

How about 1st win since 1960 vs Nebraska!?!

Holy cow - I wasn't even watching because I figured this would be a blowout by Nebraska. I checked the score a couple of times during the first three quarters and then dared to sit and watch a bit in the 4th since we were ahead. Even then I figured it was just a matter of time before Nebraska took over the game.

Nice win! Two upsets in a row and those guys have to be feeling pretty confident that they can win games.

Now I just cross my fingers that the upset carries through to tomorrow's game. It can happen! Knock on wood.

It was a good weekend for Travis Reid to make his official visit with the basketball team.

Dinky town will be crazy the rest of the day

Biggest win for the Gophers in a long time!!! Just refreshing watching the offense being creative and aggressive the whole game, especially not taking our foot off the gas when Nebraska was charging back into it. I ripped the OL after the Iowa game, but today they were the difference IMO. Just bullied the Husker D, and I really like Cobb as a RB. Nelson played great too. He was pretty accurate, good decisions, and is a genuine dual threat.

The defense was very good as well, and mostly because they played aggressively. It takes some stones bringing corner blitzes on 3rd and long at the end of the game instead of sitting in a zone, but I like watching a coach that is playing to win instead of hoping to win. Just a great win, let's hope we can get a few more and get into a good bowl game.

Really impressed wth Limegrover today. Where has that been for a year and a half? He and Claeys badly outcoached Pallini and staff. That was a great win.

The first ten minutes looked like they were going to blow the doors out of TCF

The guys got it going after that and played a very good game. If FB (forgot his name) and Engel catch balls that hit them right in the numbers, it would have been sealed a lot earlier. Nelson had a couple of over throws but was pretty good. Cobb was awesome and don't even get me started on Hagg's. Dude was a beast all day. I bet he goes in the 2nd round come April. He has that kind of talent.

BTW - I know they finally gave us a tiny bit of credit towards the end, but could Greise and his kroney have disrespected the whole program anymore today?

First of all I would say was a testimony to perseverance. As a team the Gophers responded to everything.
Nebraska goes up 10-0. The Gophers respond with a long grind it out TD to turn the momentum of the game.
Nebraska ended the 1st half with a FG and the Gophers started the 2nd half with a TD.
Nebraska runs off 10 pts and the Gophers grind out field position and the defense forces 3 and out.
At this point Nelson shows personal perseverance. After 2 drives got killed by receivers dropping balls and a wide open Engel falling down while the ball sailed right where he would have been (I'm sorry, but we are seeing way too much of this crap from him) Nelson guides a final TD drive including a key 3rd down completion.

When Kill took over, he stressed the importance of his players "having some fight back in them". This team had a lot of fight back in them today. They fought back and took the lead. Every time Nebraska was on the verge regaining control they fought back refused to give it back.

Stud factor: Cobb was a one man avalanche all day. Downhill running at its best.
Hageman: Holy shit. Couple of sacks and I don't how many plays he just blew up. I thought the most impressive play was reversing field on a full out pass rush and tackling the receiver from behind after a short gain. Jeff, if he keeps progressing at this rate, he could be a first round pick. He'll have a great body of work and we know how scouts fall in love with the uber athletes at a given position at the combines.

It's possible for sure (Hagg's). I just wonder if the stigma of being "a Gopher" drops him. Not taking away his game though. Those 2 PF's were legit, in the fact he grabbed the FM. However, they weren't dirty, and he was just a stud today.

really proud of the whole team. I just commented to Some Missed Friend. We have a legit shot at running the table if we play like we did after the first 10 minutes today. Even a 2-2 would put us at 8-4. That's LEGIT bowl game material.

We far surpassed my expectations today. After going down 10-0, I was expecting a blowout. I was very pleasantly surprised at the fight back the team showed. Nelson is a far better QB than Leitner, I think the last 2 games prove that. Would be nice to see us improve to a nicer bowl game. Indiana and Penn State might be winnable, probably not with Wisc and Mich St.

Yes it is! I played with the U marching band. We would travel to one road game each year.

My grand niece just started at the U this year and bought season tickets. I told her she should check out about being one of the girls on the sidelines helping the medical staff or other duties. I would assume that is a paid job for school kids to help them afford school. I said they travel with team.

Anyone know how or where she can get info of that job?

Only saw the last half of the fourth quarter, but was also impressed with the playcalling -- they played to win and were rewarded.

Great win for the program.  Needed that this year, and got it.

Would be great to get to 8 wins, which suddenly seems doable after 6 seemed impossible a week ago.
