All the angst over PJ aside ...
If he gets the boys to produce a miracle on Saturday ....
I give him a lifetime extension immediately after the game. And a hefty raise.
No win would be sweeter, ever. (and yes I realize the chances are none and none)
Would be the biggest win since 1977.
I got a feeling we might play pretty well. Been thinking about this one all year. It would turn the program around, and it would be Wiscys most painful loss ever.
What more incentive do we need?

Turns out he didn't need a win this weekend to get that extension.

The athletic department consulted with Mpls/St.Paul and calculated that extra year was needed in figuring out when they could hold a championship parade.

So Fleck basically gets a pass on the year. Am sure the alumni love that. Ticket holders, too.

Fleck has termed this season "Year Zero."

LOL

Yeah, that's his score out of 10 as a coach too.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska coach Mike Riley lobbied for his return to coach the Cornhuskers next season after suffering a 56-14 loss to Iowa on Friday that capped the worst year of football at the school since 1961.

"When I go to bed tonight, I'll be hoping for that, because I would love to do this," Riley said. "I truly believe I'm exactly the right person to do this. The football parts, I've been doing it so long, we know how to fix, and we also are doing a good job recruiting."

Nebraska is widely expected to cut ties with Riley, who is 19-19 in three seasons. His team finished 4-8 this year, closing the season with four consecutive losses -- allowing more than 50 points in each of the final three.

Cannot agree more ... PLEASE, Nebraska ...... extend this guy, for many many years.
I truly believe he's the guy for you. Give him another long, extended shot, please.

Oh, and in other good news .... That fat loudmouth Brett Bielema got the boot out of Arkansas.
See ya, don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.

42 seconds left in the HALF and we get our first first down. This offense is very offensive.

I owe ML a big apology. I actually had the audacity to say that Croft was a better QB at the beginning of the season. Why is this bum in the game? He sucks as a passer, refuses to keep it once in a while on the read option (actually making ppl honor it) and doesn't know how to run an option. He also has ZERO pocket awareness.

He is beyond terrible.

On that middle screen he had time to dump the ball off but chose to soil his pants instead.

Agree, we need a QB. D kinda playing OK, but O is OFFENSIVE. I stopped watching at halftime. Have it recording in case a miracle happens, but we all know it won't. Watching HS Football Championship on TV and GG BB on laptop. Why no TV?

Fleck ran at very good offense at WMich which was more pro-style

This offense looks a step below what high schools run

You run the offense your personnel allows you to run. Who is going to QB a pro style offense on this roster? They had a mediocre O-Line, unproven receivers, no QB and a stable of pretty good running backs. That equates to an offense that relies heavily on the run. We'll see what Fleck runs as he gets more of his own recruits.

Obviously a clash of personalities and philosophy. Croft isn't buying the schtick.

Yes he was pretty bad the last two weeks especially, but it wasn't all his fault either. I don't blame him for wanting to go somewhere where the receivers don't have greased skillets for hands.

He's young, he still might grow into something. But the Gophers might be better served to bring in a more seasoned juco guy while recruiting and developing the next big thing.

Fleck is supposedly working pretty hard to do just that. There is one quality uncommitted juco QB left and Fleck is trying to recruit him.

Makes it a bit tougher to recruit the next big thing when we don't get the national exposure of a bowl game though.

I think Seth Green (redshirt) and the JC they signed Vic are way better than what they have. Croft had to have the playbook reduced so he isn't capable of running the offense. Big arm and runs like a deer but didn't know the offense.

I think if Green showed anything, he would have played this year. I'm pretty disappointed in his development. Tanner Morgan is supposedly the cream of the crop for in house options. He was a true freshman this year and the reports were that there was no way in hell Fleck was going to tear off his red shirt this year.

Well that makes three better in house options.

No it doesn't. Green hasn't shown anything. He was already red shirted the year before. If he had anything, he would have played. He couldn't beat Croft or Rhoda.
