It's up to the offense.  I don't think the D will keep them below 28.  Can the O keep up?  They've been shaky so far but also solid at times.  A slow start like the last 2 and it's over quickly I'm afraid.

HUGE game today.
This is a nationally respected opponent.
We find out how far we have come.
Brew got Texas on the schedule. Awesome. Not sure if we'll be ready by then, but it's a great goal.

After getting absolutely rolled for 2 possessions on both sides of the ball, very nice to see us force a 3 and out and then a TD drive.

Maybe this will be a better game than how it started!

Cal over a hundred yds in both passing /running already.
Hunker down boys.
We've got a chance to stay in this one.
I think there may be some "hey we can play with these guys" going on.
(ok, I'm HOPING there is)

Cal very well-balanced offensively.
A good model for many teams.

Can't keep letting them convert those 3rd downs. We had every chance in the world to stop them on that drive.

Yep. Close. But still giving up the hurtful plays as you say.
Another one of those "next steps" we have to learn to make.

Wow.

After the first 4 drives of the game (2 offense, 2 defense), I NEVER would've thought we'd be within 7 at the half.

Nice to see Decker making the most of his opportunities on a big stage. This is the kind of game that increases your draft stock.

The first 2 weeks, the Gophers were able to make adjustments at half. Be nice to see that again today

Good game today.  If they wouldn't have shot themselves in the foot with two penalties on the first two possessions, who knows?  This team is a little maddening to watch.  They're on the verge of being very good.  But they just can't eliminate stupid mistakes that torpedo them.  Also, it seems to take them at least a quarter before they play decent.

Having said that, I enjoy watching and cheering for the Gophers far more than the Vikings.  It's not even close.  The new stadium seems great.  They are playing with heart.  They are fun.  They deserve support.

I was yelling at the TV and hanging on each play.  I never do that for the Vikings - much more jaded for them these days.

I was listening to KFAN after the Gopher game. They had an analyst on. I have no idea who it was because they had already introduced him before I tuned in. He said the Gophers won't face a team as athletic as Cal anywhere in the Big Ten this year.

I was a bit disappointed in the O line. Cal was hammering Weber with a 3 man rush. I was also disappointed in a couple of bad decisions by Weber. Especially the int on 1st down right after Cal went back ahead. We definitely need to recruit a RB.

Good stuff Tim and Karl.
I made some of the same observations earlier ...
If you can compete with THAT team, don't tell me you can't win the Big Ten or at the very least contend.
Weber needed to make a play or two to win that game, and he didn't.
And totally disappointing that now, when we finally have built a much better squad, our runnning game has gone to hell.
We went for years under Mason where I honestly believe we were top ten in the country in the run game, bottom ten in every other area.

Souhans got a great article on Decker today, guy is just a stud.

Read some of those quotes, that is what this program should be about.
Great attitude, great ethic, great perspective on what is important.
Also am impressed with Brewsters reaction to the game.
Every time I am afraid he is taking us down the goofy Wacker days, he veers off (Thank God).
He was "disappointed" in the results yesterday and promised improvement and changes so that the same mistakes won't be made in big games.
Previous coaches would have sold that game yesterday as a big victory in many ways, he never went there.
Moral victories are for fans and parents. They aren't for big-time programs.
We may be on to something good here.
Deckers comments about the better athletes excites me.
It was pretty obvious that was where we had to start to change things, and it seems Brewster has started that change.

Lets fix the O-line first before burying the RB. They switched to this offense because they wanted to run and I think Bennett was on his way to being a big time RB last year before he was injured

I think you're right.  Bennett has shown that he can a pretty good back - though admittedly probably not great.  Eskridge I think has potential too.  But they had no chance yesterday.  Cal completely bottled up the running game.  The line needs to pick it up.  On passing too, the protection could have been better.  Weber was hurried a lot.

Agree with everyone here.  This seems to be the biggest area of concern.  I thought we would be better up front but it's still a new group as far as playing together so hopefully they will improve.  That said, I think we are better suited with bigger RB.  We recruited a 4 star HS junior for the 2011 class who is listed at 6-2 205 and considered a physical power back, but that doesn't help now.  Plus, rumor is he got busted for weed over the summer so who knows where that will go.  Not even sure he's playing right now.  Also, we could really use Sentreal Henderson next year.  Doesn't look great, but he would be huge commit for the program.

I think that one was former gopher Jack Brewer.  He also isn't real impressed with Adam Webber.  The host was a part time KFAN guy I believe.  Can't remember which one...
