Now I remember why the option offense died.

Army is pretty darn tough with it, but others? not so much.

It works until you get up against a certain (yes I'll use the word) 'elite' level of athleticism on defense. You get some quick, strong linebackers and DBs and they'll snuff it out.

I mean, it's no cheeze-it bowl for sure, but a nice win.

Ibriham. Man he didn't do anything fancy but he's a powerful runner. From first contact until they finally brought him down, he got 4-5 more yards each carry, again and again. You think they've stopped him but then it's second and 4. Makes the offense easy.

The Gophers are very young and definitely improving. Becoming more physical and athletic under Fleck.

I was reading all the predictions for this game and everybody had GT winning this game easily until I found one on a Gophers site predicting we win by three. Nobody thought we could defend the triple option. The finish to the season was good. Maybe next year we can do better than 3-6 in the Big.

Georgia Tech looks like they haven't played against big boys this year. They're getting smashed in the mouth. Welcome to Big 10 football fellas.

This is why I am unimpressed with Clemson. They have to play one of the weakest Power 5 schedules in all of college football every year.

I am not unimpressed....look at all the players that are playing on Sundays.....Watson, our own Mac and Kearse, Mike Williams Chargers, Vic Beasley, Grady Jarrett,....42 Clemson Tigers on NFL rosters. They get as much talent as Alabama....they should be in the final 4 every year.

The ACC is always good at the top.But from top to bottom the Big 10 is far superior.

It looked like the Gophers were super prepared to defend the option. Give credit to new defensive coordinator guy. Looks they got a winner.

quote:

“The first two drives, they didn’t have any first downs,” Gophers linebacker Thomas Barber said. “We were like, ‘Wow, this is just like practice.’ ”

Said Yellow Jackets quarterback TaQuon Marshall: “We didn’t come ready to play. They did.”

How can a team have a month to practice and not be ready to play?

Gophers looked very solid.

Dare I say this program has finally turned the corner?

It was a nice convincing win. Still don't love Morgan at QB but didn't need much from him yesterday. Looking forward to continued improvement next season.

Don't like the trend of players skipping bowl games to turn pro. They should repay their entire scholarship or something.

Coach says we will encourage and support that behavior from now on.

Saw that. Not sure what he could say, but schools/leagues/NCAA should nip it in the bud or it's only going to get worse.

A definite difference
The B10 is apparently becoming stronger each year
Results are proving it
Back in my day, our Big Two wouldn't; get tested all year, then head to the major bowls and get boat-raced.
No more.
Hate to say it but Thee Ohio State was the first to figure it out.
They started to match the Floridas and Oregons and Alabamas.

That OL piss-pounded GT
Mason football.
IF we can play Mason football, while adding a passing attack, look the hell out. IF.

Until something is done, if anything, any coach who is publicly upset or mad or trashes this stuff is just giving fodder to
rival coaches in the rrecruiting wars.

About the only thing that could be done would be to change scholarship wording to include being available to play for all games while under scholarship, and if you leave
forfeit the scholarship immediately with re-payment for the year.

If any of that would survive a court challenge, I would be surprised.

Even paying the players won't stop this.

Morgan was ridiculously inaccurate.

That TD to Johnson was pretty and he only threw it 13 times? He completed 7 so how was he inaccurate? Don't you have to throw it some to be inaccurate?

I watched the whole game. The best he did on most of the passes was get it in the same zip code of the WR. He had a couple of easy TDs when our WR was behind the secondary and he couldn't get the pass in the same zip code.

for hot rods that think they can throw MN would be a pretty inviting place, if the real teams pass on them.

BINGO

Don't be afraid to send out some feelers to the big boys back-ups.

I go back and forth on Morgan. Compare him to a freshman Liedner and he is way ahead of the game. On the other hand, Liedner is not the bar I am looking to set.
