Under 2 minutes left and we actually have a chance to pull this thing out. Get a TD here and end it. Don't give our kicker a chance to mess this up.

Weber with an inexcusable pass. Almost in FG territory, and he throws a should-be pick. What was he doing???

Another god-awful pass by Weber at the goalline. Now I'm just hoping we run it in.

Inexperience.
hasn't had enough time to get comfy.
usually takes 80-90 games instead of 60 I guess.

Let the record show that I was only negative when it looked like we were probably going to lose. I'm all positive now, unlike some of you.

That was exaclty the kind of game we used to give away when we were close to turning the corner, like the Illini think they are.
Killer for them, much-needed for us.
Glad these players get to taste a win.
Its not their fault that all this bullshit has happened in their time at the U. Good kids who deserve some wins.

This was exactly what I was going to come to this thread to post. No one in the league deserved this more than these kids. Through no fault of their own they've been through a LOT of crap, and hung together in spite of it.

Here is an expert's recent ranking of the current Big 10 quarterbacks:

1. Robinson: Tate Forcier has shown Shoelace maybe isn't as irreplaceable as many thought. However, Robinson deserves bonus points because of the pressure put on him by the team's inferior defense. Stanzi and Pryor can't relate to that extraordinary burden.

2. Pryor: Hasn't necessarily had the spectacular season some were projecting coming off his Rose Bowl success, but he's been solid. He will be first team if he outplays Stanzi and Robinson.

3. Stanzi: After serious interception problems last year, he's only thrown three in 230 attempts. He's not as flashy and highly publicized as Robinson and Pryor, but he's been consistent and made very few mistakes.

4. Persa: Based on what he's done for the Wildcats, you can make the argument he's as deserving as anyone for first team.

5. Cousins: He's a tremendous leader, but really hurt himself with the bizarre three-interception game at Iowa.

6. Tolzien: He doesn't have much of a "wow" factor, but in his 22 starts, the Badgers are 18-4.

7. Chappell: How far could he have taken a better team? We'll never know.

8. Scheelhaase: He's a big part of the Illini's turnaround, but his passing needs a lot of work.

9. Weber: He has 18 touchdown passes to nine interceptions for a 1-9 team.

10. Penn State: Rob Bolden is the future, but Matt McGloin has surprised a lot of people.

11. Purdue: Gets an incomplete grade based on injuries.

Is Weber the all-time leading passer in Big Ten history yet? Shouldn't a career leader rank somewhere in the 1 or 2 slot for current QBs? Especially when he's a senior? Wouldn't you think? But no....this expert sees him as the 9th best current QB in the Big Ten. Something doesn't add up. He had a nice run at the end of the game. He should do that more often. Some of those passes down the stretch were pure stupid. I'm happy for him. We won. He had a lot to do with it. But really, at least 2 of those passes on the last drive should have been intercepted. In fact, I'm shocked, knowing what we've come to know about the Gophers, that the pass from the 6 yard line into the endzone wasn't intercepted. It would have been a typical Gopher ending.

You could see the refs didn't want to give the Gophers that TD. The Illini may not be bowl eligible because of this loss. And that's a lot of lost money for the Big Ten. And the refs were fully aware.

I found it interesting today when they said that Weber has been sacked more then any other QB this year. I knew he hasn't had much time back there most of the year, but to be leading in number of times sacked isn't good and record shows it

I like Jeff Horton a lot -- he seems like a good man. Same with Adam Weber. It's just too bad neither of them are all that great in their respective positions on a Big 10 team. But I did very much like to see that win today.

Huh?

llinois then had its two chances to finish the Gophers, and came up with neither.
First Weber tried to hit Gray — also one of the Gophers' leading receivers — but instead found defensive back Tavon Wilson. Gray hit Wilson, knocking the ball away.
Then, with the ball at Illinois' 6-yard line, Weber tried to force a pass to Da'Jon McKnight that defensive back Travon Bellamy had two hands on but dropped.
Finally, from the 2, Eskridge rescued the Gophers, slicing through the left side of his line and into the end zone.
Weber, who said during the week that he understood fans' calls for more Gray, was 20 of 26 for 225 yards and two TDs. He was seldom pressured by the Fighting Illini and wasn't sacked.
Zook credited Minnesota's protection, noting Weber has been sacked a relatively low 15 times this season. But defensive coordinator Vic Koenning said his defense has played flat two weeks running
