The consequences argument loses steam with guys like Calipari.

How come no consequences stay with coaches?

Again, if justice isn't applied equally then it is not justice.

It already ISN'T applied equally. The people who are suffering the most are kids who are playing on the current USC team who weren't even there when Bush was getting those extra "favors."

How about justice for them? Bush has never apologized all of these years when confronted with the evidence of his wrongdoing. He has caused huge havoc for the program, and doesn't seem to feel a bit of remorse. I think THE VERY LEAST he can do is return the Heisman, although that doesn't even begin to redeem himself.

I'm very surprised that the sentiment here seems to be that Bush should just be able to get away with what he did with no consequences. And yes, I think the coaches who were aware of what was happening should also face consequences. One of them is now the head coach of the Seahawks and he got away with it.

Just out of curiousity, without looking it up, what did Reggie Bush do???? Those that judge should know, right?

Meanwhile, Pete Carroll skates away to Seattle as the head coach and executive VP of a NFL team.

How is the NCAA expected to apply justice to someone they have no jurisdiction over? I suppose they can do something like "they will never be allowed to coach at an NCAA institution again", but whoop-dee-doo.

The whole thing is hypocritical because of the uneven justice.

Like Vince Young said, everyone knows Bush is the real winner.

I am tired of fakeass, pretentious officials acting like they believe in doing what is best for the student-athlete.

I don't see the U of Miami giving back any of their national title despite scores of violations. Nebraska - any bets on whether Lawrence Phillips should have been ruled ineligible?

Yep.

He'll join a few others that likely were on the way to HOF careers but had them cut short by injuries. Like Bo Jackson (who had NFL AND MLB HOF careers cut short by injuries).

But they didn't. So giving back the Heisman is the route they went. At least we agree that he needed punishment.

As a self-proclaimed USC homer, why aren't you more upset that the current players are the ones who are being punished? They're innocent victims in this.

On the field, off the field, punishment, etc..... it should not even come to that point.

He violated eligibility rules to win the award. On that basis alone, he should not keep it.

What if Reggie played while his grades left him not eligible to actually play? What if there was some trickery WRT the number of years he played and he was playing w/o eligibility?

I could go on and on...

People want to bring up OJ. What OJ did was well after the fact and a crime. It had nothing to do with his performance on the field or his eligibility to win the award.

I think Bush should be forced to not have sex with Kim Kardashian any longer and have to have sex with Snookie instead.

The Ravens dared the Jets to throw the ball. They were missing a starting corner and an All Pro safety. The result: 6 first downs. (The Ravens had 6 first downs by penalty!) Sanchez did throw some passes that were dropped, but he's got arguably the best offensive line in football. I bet that a lot of folks are lowering their grade of him as a young quarterback.

On the other hand, it was just the first game and the Ravens defense is good. Real good.
