There is a post analyizing the elway led bronco"come from behind" victories.. and while the author takes issue with some as "not true come from behind" because the resulting win was from a tie game situation, he still has 20 wins AT other stadiums not called "mile high"..

The "he won at mile high because the other teams ran out of breath" is total BS.

I want to go back in the past and punch my former self in the face for wanting Tim Tebow.

Not only is he one of the most wretched stating QB's of all time his golden god boy act is nauseating.

And **** Pro Football Talk! They tanked every post I made about Plummer calling out Tebow and his constant proselytizing. I could see one not making it through but 3 of the 4 were fairly innocuous and certainly less so than a number of posts they let go through.

I said it many times before he was drafted...he was a four year project at best.

People point to his winning ways in Denver...welll that's nice...but it wont hold. There is a reason the option offense doesn't work long in the NFL...the pursuit is just too fast. Elway and Fox are looking QB in the first round next year...guaranteed.

To me both Haley and Sporano got raw deals. Both took over terrible teams. The Chiefs were 2-14 before Haley arrived and they were 10-6 AFC West champs in his 2nd season. This season he's done ok considering the injuries they've had.

Sparano took over a 1-15 team and made them division winners the following season. They followed that with 7-9, 7-9 now 4-9. But you could see marked improvement in the team each season, they just need a QB.

Makes you wonder sometimes, it's worse to have a great turnaround, it leads to premature expectations.

I would really like to see both the Eagles and Cahrgers make it to the post season. Both teams are easily top 10 atm and perhaps top 3 in their respective conferences.

We will see what year 2 brings for Cam. No doubt the kid can flat out play...and he is exciting to watch. But when teams get an off season to break down game film they will make adjustments.....will Cam be able to adjust to that. Eventually he wil start getting hit just like Vick....will he be able to flourish then? Hit Vick and he's done....wht happens when Cam starts taking some of those???

We picked 12th. Newton was picked no 1 overall. The only person here crying that we didn't get Newton is You.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton only threw for 171 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, but that was all he needed to set his latest benchmark. Newton now has 3,893 passing yards this season, breaking Peyton Manning's rookie record of 3,739 set in 1998. Newton also has 14 rushing touchdowns, the most for any quarterback in a single season, rookie or otherwise. So the obvious question becomes: Have we ever seen anyone -- or anything -- like this?

Frankly, no. At Football Outsiders, we use similarity scores to find historical matches for contemporary players. (Similarity scores were invented by baseball analyst Bill James and have since been used by many other statisticians for many other sports.) Our formula uses not just on-field performance, but also factors such as size, age and experience in an attempt to predict each player's future.

Newton essentially breaks our similarity score system. He's on pace for 719 rushing yards. The only quarterbacks who have rushed for more than 700 yards since the merger are Michael Vick, Bobby Douglass and Randall Cunningham. (Vick has done it three times and can make it four with 114 yards against Washington next week. Tim Tebow needs 56 yards against Kansas City to join the club.) The system doesn't know what to do with all that ground yardage and tries to match up Newton with occasional scramblers, such as Mark Brunell and Don Majkowski.

Newton's rushing ability is no fluke, and at 6-foot-5 and 248 pounds, there's no reason to expect his numbers on the ground to dissipate anytime soon. To get a better picture of his performance, let's separate his passing stats from his rushing stats. Since we can't find anyone who could run and throw like Newton, let's start with players who threw like him, then look for those who ran like him.

Projecting Newton's stats over 16 games gives us 315 completions, 525 attempts, 4,153 yards, 21 touchdowns and 17 interceptions, all at the tender age of 22. Here are the 10 quarterback seasons most similar to that since 1978:

They compared Newton to some pretty outstanding quarterbacks during some pretty outstanding seasons (and we’re not just talking rookie years for the other guys).

Their conclusion? We’ve never seen anything like Newton before. They say that it’s fair to compare Newton to a young Peyton Manning as a quarterback and a young Herschel Walker as a running back. That’s pretty high praise.

I’ve been saying for a couple months now that Newton is different than anything we’ve seen. You can say he throws like a Manning, Dan Marino or John Elway. You can also say he runs like Michael Vick or Tim Tebow.

There have been quarterbacks before that you could say one of those two things about. But I think Newton is the first guy you can say both things about.

I know it's so tempting, but every season we get some odd posts about some player that we really, really should have gotten even though, as Scott pointed out in this case, he was drafted 11 spots ahead of us. Why do we always have to explain that other teams get to draft too?

Yes, it really happens. Other teams get good players in the draft because that's just the way it is. Carolina picked up Cam Newton because they SUCKED the year before and had a high draft pick.

He's a blown knee waiting to happen.

I love what he can do...but we had a guy here in MN that could run at one time and on one of those runs someone caught his leg just right when he planted and snap...he never played another game for the Vikings and became a sorry excuse of a journeyman since. You really don't want your QB running unless absolutely necessary. It is way too risky.

It's a nice ability and option to use, but it should rarely be used. Only a fool puts the QB in jeopardy that often.

I love Newton's game. I love the energy he brings

Pining over him is pointless though.

We never had a chance to get him. And RGIII is NOT the same QB.
