Yep - which is why the ref needs to call the pushoff.

Without due vigilance, the foul gradually becomes automatic.

hmmm... why did the year 1975 just pop into my brain ?

Didn't realize that the Clemson defense stopped Alabama on 12 straight 3rd downs. Defense still matters in the college game. Maybe Nick missed Lane?

Harbaugh just said he fell asleep during the Alabama/Clemson game.

Some would say he fell asleep during the Michigan/Florida State game.

His act has gotten old

As for Bama, so glad they lost

The SEC = overrated

Like the back seven a lot. Not sold on the guys up front for Bama. Linebackers were off the charts.

Lack of depth on the front line showed in the latter stages of the game

They play in the SEC, which has maybe one NFL quarterback right now. As I have been saying for quite some time, if your college team plays in a conference with no legit quarterbacks, the defenses will always seem better than they really are. The Big Ten was a prime example.

Of the top 10 quarterbacks getting ready to be drafted, only Chad Kelly from Ole Miss plays in either the SEC or Big Ten. Ole Miss scored 43 on Alabama. The other team on their schedule this year with a top-10 quarterback was Clemson, who rolled up 511 yards and 35 points.

Again, great defense, or great conference to have a defense?

The others around here say the Pac 12 is soft. As I have argued, they have more NFL-type quarterbacks in the Pac 12, making the defenses look worse. I think it's a solid argument.

When ESPN has an SEC channel, guess what teams are going to be promoted the most? The fans just follow along like sheep being led to the slaughter, thus ignoring the facts.

Is the SEC a great conference? Absolutely. But not on the level people thought for an 8-year period. They have had one or two programs that have been very good every year. They have also had six that were garbage.

Last week some were calling Alabama the greatest team ever. Wonder if they still feel that way.

I still say USC ('05), Nebraska ('95) and Miami ('01) were the greatest teams ever. Put them in whatever order you want. ('97) Michigan and ('91) Washington would also be in the conversation.

The SEC always has one or 2 great teams, just like every other Power 5 Conference.
The SEC though, always gets the advantage of 4-5 other SEC teams being called great as well.

Because SEC

Has Alabama been great?
Yes

The other SEC teams?
Not really.

It sure helped with 8 in a row by Always having a team in it.
The 2011 Oregon team likely rolls Notre Dame as well.
The 2010 Oregon team lost on a last second field goal after a questionable not down call on Michael Dyer.
The 2015 Oregon team led Ohio State in the third quarter.

Not making excuses, it is really hard to win.

I just think it's interesting that in the modern CFP format,
The ACC has won once, the SEC once, and the Big Ten once.

I think the 8 in a row by the SEC would have played out similarily spread and I also think an 8-team playoff would spread the titles among conferences even further.

Look at how each conference did in non-conference games against Top 50 teams

Only the ACC had a winning record

Bama has been the best team for years but as McMurfy states, the mediocre SEC teams are rated higher because of the hype

Agreed. very soft.

Pac 12 has the best qb's every year.

They also do the least with them every year.

Yep. Been saying it for years. People didn't believe me when I told them the Pac 10/12 was an even .500 against the SEC during the BCS era. Facts are facts.

Nebraska 71 was as good as any of them.

On a weekly basis it is the most exciting brand of football to watch.

Winner. (said with disgust ....)
