They have an extra competitive balance pick or two to spare, so no big deal.

Wowsa re: Cuddy. That's nuts. Guys like him are available every offseason for $5-7M.

Smart moves on Liriano/Santana. Especially with this market, those guys will absolutely get multi-year deals.

Count me in the camp that thinks the Martin/Cruz ones are crazy too. No way I'd pay either of those guys $15.3M next season.

If I'm Cuddy, I sign on the dotted line as soon as I find a pen.

Hell, for that kind of money I'd just bleed my signature onto the page if I needed to.

Complete list of the 12 players to receive qualifying offers:

http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/11/03/roundup-of-players-to-receive-15-3-million-qualifying-offers/

Nobody has ever accepted a qualifying offer before, but it's a slam dunk that Cuddyer does this year.

Ick on Hammel. No thanks.

Anderson I'm on board for, but only as a "2nd" guy. I've always loved him, but you just can't count on him to pitch more than 50 innings or something at this point.

I'm sure the Yanks would like this guy to just go away

New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez paid his cousin Yuri Sucart almost $1 million in exchange for Sucart's silence about his performance-enhancing drug use, according to court documents found by the New York Daily News.

The Daily News reports that Sucart threatened to "expose" information about Rodriguez and his history of PED use if Rodriguez did not provide Sucart "for the past services rendered and to fulfill your promise to support [Sucart] and his family for life."

Sucart, who Rodriguez has said provided him with steroids while he was with the Texas Rangers, wanted $5 million from Rodriguez and a life estate for he and his wife.

According to the Daily News, Rodriguez agreed to pay Sucart to keep quiet in June 2013 and gave him $700,000 in one payment, plus three later payments that totaled $200,000.

Sucart is currently involved in the Biogenesis case centered around founder Anthony Bosch. Sucart pleaded not guilty in August to federal charges in relation to the Biogensis clinic. Bosch pleaded guilty in October and is awaiting sentence.

Panda rejects the q-offer.

Angels make the rest of Ryan's hair fall out

The Angels have reached an agreement with 20-year-old Cuban infielder Roberto Baldoquin on a record-setting $8MM bonus, reports MLB.com’s Jesse Sanchez. The $8MM bonus is the most ever for an amateur player under the current international signing rules.

First thought on Gold Gloves. No amazing complaints, other than Seager winning at 3b over Donaldson, which is ridiculous.

So when did they start this thing where they announce 3 finalists for the awards? I think I remember something like that last year too. I remember watching a split-screen of Goldschmidt and McCutchen on MLB Network last year when they announced the winner. Now it looks like they go with 3 finalists instead of 2. Why do they need "finalists" at all? Aren't all the votes in? This is quite possibly the stupidest thing MLB has ever come up with.

AL MVP Finalists:

Michael Brantley, OF, Indians
Victor Martinez, DH/1B, Tigers
Trout, OF, Angels

Let's go, Michael Brantley! Bring home the hardware!!

Mike Trout has already been flat-out robbed of 2 MVP Awards. If they do it a 3rd time to him, they should just abolish the voting body. Hell, they should do that anyway. These guys are jokes.

Yep. Amazing the Orioles made it as far as they did with that bum, low average, low HR, low RBI hitter at SS.

The voters have been a joke for years.

Gold Gloves are ridiculous most of the time. Since Palmeiro played like 40 games at first and Doug Mientkeiwicz could have played rings around him and Raffy "I never used steroid, excuse me for a moment while I shoot up" Palmeiro won the GG.

MVPs they get right sometimes, sometimes they don't. Miggy Cabrera had an MVP worthy year they year he won over Trout, Trout was deserving to be sure, but it's not like Miggy robbed him. He was deserving too.

These same writers took nearly 15 years to put Bert Blyleven in the HOF. And passed over Jack Morris.

They are idiots.

So blackmail isn't really that bad of a thing, because the victim also did something bad? OK.
