Logan White going from the Dodgers to the Padres would seem to be a huge loss for Friedman. He was responsible for much of their talent coming in the last several years. Padres, if they can ever up payroll, have built a very nice front office IMO.

Maddon hired by Cubs. Hmmmm. Tampering? I'd say yes.

Eh

Cubs are building something pretty epic, IMO. Jealous.

WOW.....Maddon starting to move into AROD territory for pissing off the league office for this announcements. He announced his release from his contract on the day of a game....and now, rumors are floating that he has a deal in place with the Cubs on the day of the 7th game.

Will he and the cubs announce a deal around 7 pm this evening?

Bud would have a coronary.

Well, ya, and obviously the public can't focus on two stories at once. This Maddon (non shocking) news really takes away my desire to focus on and watch game 7 of the World Series.

I mean look at the NFL; they never want multiple news stories going.

And the Twins......

It feels like the ticking stopwatch from 60 minutes.......

When will the show finish and the announcement made??????

Probably will be some time so that TR can convince Bruce Bochy to leave the Giants and come manage MN.

We don't want to upset baseball people.
Going to wait a couple months until the WS glow wears off.

The national spotlight will be solely focused on MN as people around the country (and world) breathlessly await the announcement of the new Twins manager and coaching staff.

It will have the attention the NFL gets on draft day.

Should be a prime trade candidate for us.

Won't be though. He'll be a Twin in 3-4 years, when he should be retired.

Declined Options

Rickie Weeks
Nick Markakis
Josh Johnson
Nick Hundley

KC expected to decline Butler's option; expected to be among those pursuing Hunter.

that would be great....would love to see Hunter get a WS ring playing for KC.

That would probably kill off Dick Bremer.

I hate to say it, but I think the Royals missed their best chance at a ring. They may make the playoffs again soon...or they may not. The stars were aligned this year. Other teams will always spend more. And their front office is not as brilliant as others. It's gonna be tough. The saving grace is they are in a not-so-good division. There will always be teams better than the Royals. I think Royals fans know it's a long-shot that they ever have excitement like this again in their lifetimes.

Yep.

The reason the were good this year and probably will be for a few years, is that they were so bad for so long that they were able to stockpile a lot of young talent. That talent will be leaving in droves in the next few years.

and then they will be bad again.

Nope.
They'll stick around long enough to get a ring.

Sounds like Butler is the first that will be gone (the team declined the option today). Shields will also be gone, which was a foregone conclusion.

ESPN:

The Rays are considering filing tampering charges, according to the Tampa Bay Times, as they believe Epstein enticed Maddon to opt out of his final contract year.

Good. I hate the Cubs. Hope they lose draft picks and are forced to send prospects to the Rays.

I'm hoping so as well. Theo is pretty cocky. Take him down a notch.
