CC Sabathia checking into rehab for alcohol.
Strange timing. Could guess something was wrong.
The pressure of playing there claims another one. Tough environment.
The ones who emerge relatively unscathed are incredibly strong.

Wowza. Temper / outburst in Toronto was apparently an indicator.

Bernie
Jetes
Mariano
Jorge
Pettitte

No wonder they won a lot. Those guys were rocks.

I only expect the Yankees to play one postseason game.

Matt Williams gets canned in Washington.
Best manager in baseball a year ago.
He must have forgotten how to manage. Not.
Players get managers fired.

and in some cases, the managers to forget how.

Had a friend bemoaning Shame Gardy isn't here to reap the rewards of his pain and suffering. and ripping on Molitor a bunch.

Then he also ripped the org for not doing something like TX and getting a Hamels-type guy.

Gardy did forget. he wanted vets, and had no patience for kids' mistakes. I try to be diplomatic about it, but some are dead-set against Molitor.

Claiming he got the job only because of name.

I was rooting for Mientkiewicz, was apprehensive about Molly...but he did get them to play much better. Can't bemoan the results, especially with what he had to work with.

Gardy would have had another 90 loss season with the same team. JMO

Wish I could understand how a career garbage starter like Jake Arrieta can come out of nowhere at Age 29 and have one of the best seasons for a starting pitcher in my lifetime. Makes ZERO sense, unless he's on something really good.

Hated those teams. In hindsight I have incredible respect for them. Baseball was better when the Yankees were a dynasty. The NFL should take notes. League-wide mediocrity sucks.

No the NFL should NOT take note.. unless you want the Packers and Cowboys fighting for NFC supremecy for the next 20 years while the Pats and Steelers fight it out for the AFC.

You don't need leagues favoring teams like MLB does. It's better for the league for teams to rise and fall like they do. Gives every fan hope and keeps more watching. NFL is a moneymaking machine right now. Why should they change anything. MLB is in more danger.

You should want football to be like baseball. In that scenario the Packers would almost certainly be the Rays or maybe even Marlins of the NFL. The Bores and Giants would be up there with the Cowboys.

Ellsbury not starting tonight.
Joe Girardi doesn't manage according to which way the wind blows.
He does what gives his team the best chance to win.
This will be a fun one.
Stros are terrible on the road, but Kuechel erases that.
Key tonight is Tanaka.

What say we do a MLB Playoffs Thread, eh?
(While the playoffs play out?)
Ya know, one where we can throw around politics, basketball, cooking, schtuff like that?
Or playoff baseball maybe.

Houston has postponed a renovation of center field at Minute Maid Park that would move the fences 436 feet to 409 feet and eliminate Tal's Hill. Team president Reid Ryan says the Astros plan for the renovations eventually but not before the team's home opener.

Donnie Baseball wrongfully blamed for whats wrong in LA.
But in typical Donnie Baseball fashion, takes the high road.
Sounds like the Marlins job is his if he wants it.

Don't know if I would want to work for Jeff Loria

But I wouldn't mind filling out a lineup card and penciling in Giancarlo Stanton every day.
