Buck Showalter once intentionally walked Barry Bonds with the bases loaded. This wasn't quite as dramatic, but he walked Buster Posey with two outs in the ninth, putting the tying run on base to instead pitch to Denard Span. It worked as Zach Britton induced a fielder's choice and the Orioles had a stunning 8-7 win to take the series.

Eric Hosmer's free fall continues. Since July 1, he's hitting .209/.255/.297 with just three home runs in 38 games.

The game is hard.

Is what happens when you hang out with folks for several years.

I look back at some of the PMs regarding players from several years ago. Interesting how the concerns are much the same. Only the names change.

Amazing how fast time goes, for all of us. Players come and go. Football has become much much worse.

Fall sports starts practices today. Where did the last 2 1/2 months go??

Hear ya man
Feels like I just got out of the rink
Almost time to go back IN
We all remember old goats telling us how fast time goes ... and laughing at them.
They were right. Again.
Summer has those events that you tick off ... the fourth, county fairs, certain town cellys ... every year they go faster and faster
You can already feel the night air is "different" than it was a week ago.
19 weeks until Christmas. Yuck.

Saw a pretty cool pic on Twitter.

Torre and Stottlemeyer, who went through a lot together.

At the Stadium.

Their Yankee placques are right next to each other. How appropriate.

Speaking of overpaid, that Alex Gordon contract could go down as one of the worst all-time. His offensive numbers have never been that impressive, certainly not to warrant the money they threw at him. He is a career .265 hitter and his last three seasons before this season were right at his career average. He only played in 104 games in 2015 and injuries have been a part of his career in the past. This season has been no exception except his offense has gone entirely in the tank. A very predictable outcome for a tenured player who becomes comfortable in a guaranteed contract. When will MLB realize that guaranteed contracts are a horrible deal for the team and its owners?

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh myyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

The Chicago Cubs have apologized for a song that was played after reliever Aroldis Chapman left the mound during Sunday's game.

Cubs' bullpen needs a 'restructure' after second late-inning loss to Cards

The Cubs' bullpen again faltered as Hector Rondon gave up four of the five runs the Cardinals scored in their eighth-inning comeback.

The Cubs said an employee played Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up" after Chapman pitched the ninth inning of a 6-4 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. That employee was fired Monday.

"We apologize for the irresponsible music selection during our game last night," Cubs president of baseball operations Crane Kenney said in a statement. "The selection of this track showed a lack of judgment and sensitivity to an important issue. We have terminated our relationship with the employee responsible for making the selection and will be implementing stronger controls to review and approve music before public broadcast during our games."

Chapman, who the Cubs acquired from the New York Yankees at the trade deadline, missed the first 29 games of this season under baseball's domestic violence policy. He was involved in an October incident where he allegedly choked his girlfriend.

Giancarlo serious groin injury, expected to miss rest of the year. Bad news for Marlins.

The #Marlins have gone 52-50 when Giancarlo Stanton HASN'T played since the start of 2015; 80-97 when he HAS.

Final Jeopardy:

What do Giancarlo Stanton and Nick Punto have in common?
