Novel idea.

I noticed Gardy was running down Hicks to the media yet again yesterday. Amazing.

Exactly. Gardenhire is a 1-pitch pitcher. He has only one way to deal with young players who are rough around the fundamental edges. And this is the manager TR re-upped to shepherd Buxton, Sano, Hicks, Pinto and Rosario into the line-up the next two plus seasons.

It is obvious Gardy thinks Hicks is an airhead. What with Ronnie's for show, over-the-top reaction to the catch 'n' glove flip last season, the 'don't know where he is, he's got to let me know' crap at the start of spring training and the overthrow of a cut-off, missed signs, infringing on Willie's territory to make a catch all thrown out to the local media. It is the frickin' lap dog Minnesota media, totally not necessary. It's not like they are going to run to Hicks and say, "Gardy says you missed a sign today!"

Gardenhire is eminently replaceable. And the -if he has good players he wins- thing...yes, most big league managers can do that too! How about when your roster is in the development stage, then what can you do ? I do not know why he is considered such a player's manager, he's an ass. The clubhouse needed a big gust of fresh air...a new manager for where the Twins are at right now, and TR signed up for more of the same.

The same people are making the same decisions. Nothing will change.

Yes, yes he is.
And does anyone want this guy to be the one to usher in Buxton and Sano?

The Indians were one of the clubs vying for Scott Baker's services before the offseason, and just released Aaron Harang. Nevertheless, Cleveland will not pursue the starter at this point, tweets Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish.com. Baker was released today by the Mariners after deciding he would rather test the market than accept an assignment to Triple-A.

No TRUE accountability exists with Gardenhire.

The truth is he's been awful for quite some time. Even when the team had talent he never had them prepared to play in the postseason. He was all about just 'getting there"

As soon as I saw him praise the team's effort after that limp performance in the 2010 postseason series against the Yankees I knew this team was headed for a nuclear winter. I toss a lot of the blame at Gardenhire

Yeah baby ... Dodgers have a higher payroll than my Yankees
Does that mean NY can now use the "little engine that could" theme?

It's 2014.

Since he won MOY, he's had three consecutive 90+ loss seasons.

And it's looking like that streak will continue this year.

I feel like you don't have any faith whatsoever that Floirmon is going to crack the top 25.

That is a generous rating.  Must be a sabermetrics publication.  There can be no other explanation.

Being spurned by reigning AL Cy Young winner Max Scherzer hasn’t reined in the Tigers’ desire to spend big. On Thursday, they reached an agreement with two-time AL MVP winner Miguel Cabrera on an eight-year extension running through 2023, worth roughly $248 million. While there’s little doubt that the 30-year-old slugger (31 on April 18) is the best hitter in baseball right now, this record-setting contract locks in what’s likely to be his decline phase at a fairly steep price.

On top of the two years and $44 million remaining on his current deal (eight years, $152.3 million) pact, Cabrera is now guaranteed a total of $292 million over the next 10 years, surpassing Alex Rodriguez’s 10-year, $275 million deal as the largest in history.

That contract has Albert Pujols written all over it. Why do they offer players enormous contracts that extend well beyond their productive seasons of their career?
