I will say this about the NCAA tourney. They need to get the television rights away from ESPN. Just like everything ESPN does, it's all about the east coast. Why do you think the first game of the #1 seed wasn't even televised last night......that is what frustrates me. Hard to get excited about a national championship tournament when you can't see the games.

The Mavericks have had some really good seasons ended in the same manner. Even though they are my least favorite MN team, I hope Hastings and his group get their first NCAA win today.

Is there that much parity in D1 hockey? Or, is the pairwise flawed and the rankings not what they should be?

To be fair, the Gophers have hung 5 banners. But the last one was 2003 so it has been a long time for them. That doesn't seem that long ago, I must be getting old! LOL

The AI loss might be as big as Holy Cross.

That's an amazing upset.
Once you get that big ol monkey hanging on your back, you just can't get him off.
SCSU has a definite mental block

Someone asked about parity? Are you kidding? Not sure I've ever seen a sport that can even out as quickly as college hockey does.
Lets face it … building a program in 2-3-4 years like schools are doing now … should not happen.
But it does in college hockey, because of so many factors. You gather a bunch of pissed-off motivated kids who get bypassed by the big boys? You've got yourself a chance.
People laugh at 'CLUB" hockey at colleges, but if you are around it, you realize soon its no joke.
Every club team around the country has a couple guys who could help D1 schools win. ASU built that way … they took club hockey seriously.
And were ready to emerge.

One of my Dmen that played for me as an 8th grader, is now in the same league as American International.
Several of the teams in that league competed with the top ranked schools all year. St Cloud struggled with Robert Morris at Christmas.
Its one sport where you can never easily figure out what will happen. A hot goalie, a true scorer … and you can stay in any game.

During the regular season there wasn't much parity for SCSU. They kicked ass on almost every team they played. Sure a couple losses over the course of the season.

Thanks pards! Set up great for another shot at the title (they should beat the Friars...)

Never in a million years thought that the program would have a better run than they did in the early-mid 80s, but here they are. Winning one outside of their own backyard (and on the East Coast, no less) would be the cherry on top of the sundae.

Bulldogs moving on to another championship game after beating Providence 4-1 with 2 empty net goals in the final minute. That will make 3 years in a row for them in the final game of the season....Sandelin has that program cruising right along.

They're the best team remaining in this tournament so they will probably win it. Last year they were a good team who went on a nice four game winning streak at just the right time.

Half a dozen career-ending type head attacks from their supposed good players.
In a huge game where you shouldn't be head hunting.
Kind of worried, tho. They're pretty good, and a couple of their best guys will be rested.
Was hoping for a Denver/Dogs final, but this'll work great if UMD finishes the deal.

This one worries me too. Playing east coast-style hockey against an east coast-based team in an east coast location broadcast by an east coast-biased network...I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

Keep yer heads up, avoid the dumb penalties and shut down Makar...kid's an absolute friggin beast. Let's hope the lights are awfully bright for UMass on Saturday. Like I said earlier, this one's the cherry on the sundae.
