And, why are you stepping up to throw it away? just heave it out of bounds.

Still pissed off.

I'll defend Teddy on this one. He had to step up because the pocket immediately collapsed from the sides. He had to get out to throw it away otherwise it's intentional grounding and they are trying a 58 yard FG.

And yes I'm still pissed off too. Only the Vikings could find a way to piss me off in a game where I had zero expectations of them and thought they would get blown out.

Not intentional grounding if he gets it near a receiver.

If it is IG - there'd have been a run off and the game would've been over.

Then just kick the ball on 3rd down.

48 yd field goal? Shank-o-pottamus-Walsh had already drilled a 54 yarder.

I still don't have a problem with the decision to take a shot at the win. They play selection and execution was atrocious.

Zero problem with running a play
Some problems with the routes they chose
Huge problems with not realizing YOU CANT TAKE A SACK

The D is close to being dominant...do you try and complete the set? Barr/Kendricks/final piece...

The DL is set. Hunter/Floyd/Joseph/Griffen

The backfield is a competent S and Waynes catching on from being set...

Too many glaring needs on O imo. Last year we spent our first 3 picks on D...I don't think it would hurt to do the same with the O this year.

2 OL and a WR.

Is Jake Reed in the Vikings Ring of Honor? If not, he should be.

Not until Randy Moss, Sammy White, Anthony Carter and Ahmad Rashad are there.

and Even then...his placement there would be iffy at best.

4 consecutive 1,000 yard seasons. He and Cris Carter held (still hold?) the record for most combined catches by a WR duo in a season. He was a great Viking.

You can argue great Viking all you want. There are at least four Viking WRs that should be on that ring of honor before him.

You guys hibernating?

Actually, yeah ... got up at 4 and watched it on delay.
Nice one today.
Almost ready Teddy is getting there, a dandy game from him.
Holy McKinnon!
Holy Diggs!
Holy Beat-up Defense !!!!!
Loved the Sacks and pressures.
Greenway and the line with some great pressures, the DBs with some outstanding coverage today.

Loved the Zimmer post-gamer ... "this team fights"

For years, some of us have simply been asking for that, and for a coach who appreciates that.
"this team fights"
Simple, yet the key to most sporting events/teams/legacies. Find guys that will fight for each other and for their jobs, and you are on the right track.

It goes beyond that. This place is cool but the damn beat down of "you're an idiot" in the main Vikes thread has chased a LOT of people away. It's just not worth it.

What makes me salivate is that the D is solid as hell and we are missing our 3 best guys. When you think about it, and take the bullshit out:

Losses:

1. San Fran, their place, opening night and at 10:30 locally for the guys - not a way to open the season. I don't care what the "they're professionals, they can play anytime" crowd says. That shit wrecks performances.

2. Denver, their place, one of the best D's in the league, Manning still doing "ok" and we took it right to them.

3. GB - shitty day

4. Seattle - shitty day

5. Ari - we are in OT, their place, if our veteran OC pulls his head out

It's the second year for our staff (rookies, btw) and our 23 YO QB. We are sitting pretty and our arrow is firmly planted upwards. We had, over the past 5 years, one of the worst D's in the league. They are close to dominating (and do at times).

Our Oline was a huge question mark coming in, and they are playing better and our WR crew was a disaster. We won't win it all but those who thought we were, were "high" on kool aid. We are close to becoming dominate and it's a damn sweet feeling.

We lost to SF (horrible but we would run them out of any stadium on the planet now), the 2 time SB entry, "America's golden team", and the 2 preseason favs for SB contenders.

We are doing well. Can't wait for the future but the present is sweet as hell. Beat the hell our Leslie Frazier's Vikings, that's for sure!

Dedicated to two Jeff's. One, Jesser, a huge Lover Boy fan, and then that other guy...

We just watched a brand new way
And we hope it's here to stay
We'll have to wait and see if it'll take us all the way

Getting ready to open brand new doors
Well you know that's what I'm lookin' for
We'll have to wait and see if it makes you shout for more

How do you like him so far?
How do you like his show?
How do you like the way he rocks and the way he rolls?
How do you like his image?
How do you like his style?
How do you like the way he looks and the way he smiles?

The kid was hot tonight
Whoa, so hot tonight
But we'll need this game in Lambeau

I was skiing today on what little snow there is, and watched on DVR too.

It was an outstanding overall game, especially when you factor in who was missing on D, Xavier was dinged, AP got dinged. Teddy looked great, McKinnion too, Diggs too. Can't complain about much. Gotta get healthy though to make a run against better competition.

All I will say about our offense ... is

is it legal to get the ball to receivers in a way where they can actually add on YAC?
we've never done that
oh, and it is legal that we have receivers who WANT to add on YAC?
because for a long time we haven't had any
getting the ball to guys on crossing routes where they are MOVING is so huge
having guys who see the EZ and WANT to get there, is so huge

its not really rocket science or brain surgery
