Glimmer of hope/sanity:

Mike Zimmer says on ESPN he talked to Fran Tarkenton about Johnny Manziel

First I would like to go on record as saying the vast majority of TD/ sack/ long reception / tackle celebrations are just mind numbingly lame. The only thing lamer is assessing penalties for them.

Celebrating a tackle is stupid.  You did your job Dwayne Rudd you don't have to dance around like an idiot because you did your job.

Most are lame.  And a waste of time imho...that being said, there is no point to the NFL banning them as long as they are not excessive other than the owners being assholes.

Rudd was the worst. The most annoying thing about it, to me at least, wasn't the stupid celebrations all the time. It was the fact that it was 12 yards down the field damn near every time.

The thing that bugged me was the 10 missed tackles in between is celebrations.

My favorite was the time he threw his helmet in the air in victory while the play was still going on. The penalty moved the other team into range and they kicked the winning field goal.

This mock has Manziel falling to MN.

http://nfl.si.com/2014/03/25/2014-nfl-mock-draft-blake-bortles-2/?eref=sihp

8. Minnesota Vikings: Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M
Trade possibility: Down to No. 14, Bears take Aaron Donald

The fan base of whichever team winds up with Manziel probably will be nervous until they see him succeed at the NFL level. It says here that he will. Manziel running an offense that features Adrian Peterson and Cordarrelle Patterson would be hugely problematic for defenses as they game planned.

The benefit of a trade down comes if Minnesota would prefer to wait on a QB until Round 2 or 3, with the Vikings stashing an extra pick or two and still improving upon Christian Ponder. Chicago should have Donald near the top of its draft board, just as several other teams will.

I would be more excited about this Vikings team than any in many a year if they draft Manziel.

From a marketing standpoint, think of all the #2 Manziel jerseys they'd sell.

Thank you.
Winner.
Did everything he could in college.
Let's check it out. And have some fun along the way.
Polian said this morning he has spent time standing next to Bortles, Bridgewater, and Manziel.
And he says Manziel had the strongest arm. Another expert myth imploded.

You sound Like William's basketballcoach, on why he only plays the 8th graders(referring to the 7th grade class).

If only there was a way he could find out if the 7th graders could play...hmm, I don't know...maybe play them and see what happens? Sounds like that might be too radical an idea for him.

Tough day in Buffalo
Beloved owner Ralph Wilson passes.
Jim Kelly will lose part of his face to cancer.
Damn tough day.

Jimmy K is a sad tale.

I remember seeing a lot of pics of him with a dip in that front lip.

Bad deal.

EEK.

Losing Wilson is no surprise considering his age...

But the Jim Kelly thing is terrible.

Hopefully the horrific nature of his struggle will hit home with some young people
Chew is still a big problem

Typical NFL over-reaction
The goalpost issue is because Graham tilted the goalposts on a dunk last year.
Ummm, you couldn't just penalize him when THAT happens?

I read the comments on all this earlier.

Spot on.

The NFL has to try to control everything.

Which makes me wonder as well why leaps into the crowd haven't been yet?

Any team,not just the Pack.

That is a PLANNED CELEBRATION.

Why? I'm just curious why? I don't know if he is the guy or not, but based on the sum total of scouting reports it sounds like this kid is in no way a slam dunk franchise QB. Why is he the one that trips your trigger?

For me, it would because Manziel is more of a potential dynamic guy than a number of QBs the Vikings have tried before and since Favre.

They need some life. They need some excitement. Manziel gives them that potential.
