Hopefully the horrific nature of his struggle will hit home with some young people
Chew is still a big problem
I've never understood it, but it is. Deal with it a lot.

I've got a couple buddies now who are on 20+ years of dipping. Beast of a thing to quit (obvs). Starting to get worried about them.

What Ed said
He accomplished great things against superior teams during his college years

What I don't get is the anger towards him.
Why paint yourself into that corner?
I don't want anything to do with Bridgewater ... But I'm not gonna rail on him daily, painting myself into a corner in case he ends up here.
If he does, then let's go with him!
This fear of getting Manziel is hilarious. Why vilify the kid? Don't get that.

I would be more excited about this Vikings team than any in many a year if they draft Manziel.

Why? I'm just curious why? I don't know if he is the guy or not, but based on the sum total of scouting reports it sounds like this kid is in no way a slam dunk franchise QB. Why is he the one that trips your trigger?

For me, it would because Manziel is more of a potential dynamic guy than a number of QBs the Vikings have tried before and since Favre.

They need some life. They need some excitement. Manziel gives them that potential.

Same thoughts here. I'm certainly not saying the guy is a sure fire prospect, but after seeing him play in college, it just seems to me that -- succeed or fail -- he will be spectarularly fun to watch. Huge competitor, keeps plays alive, "natural instincts," etc.

Now ultimately, does that get him killed in the NFL? Possibly. But what fun it would be to watch.

Plus, the guys got a great "f you" attitude that I imagine will seriously annoy our division rivals if he ends up being good.

He won't last playing that way in THE league.

Just think if he really is the second coming of Fran. Us youngins don't have the sweet memories of watching the Vikes get beat in Super Bowls. I figure watching a couple Super Bowl losses would ease the pain of all the NFC Championship losses I've endured.

@BlairWalsh3 Glad we aren't allowed to dunk on goalposts anymore! My legs were getting tired from the monster jams I was throwing down!

With that in mind, I take the same position with Manziel as I do with Bridgewater. If they take him it will in no small part because Norv looked at a lot of film and liked what he saw. In either case I'm fine with it.

First I would like to go on record as saying the vast majority of TD/ sack/ long reception / tackle celebrations are just mind numbingly lame. The only thing lamer is assessing penalties for them.

Celebrating a tackle is stupid.  You did your job Dwayne Rudd you don't have to dance around like an idiot because you did your job.

Most are lame.  And a waste of time imho...that being said, there is no point to the NFL banning them as long as they are not excessive other than the owners being assholes.

Rudd was the worst. The most annoying thing about it, to me at least, wasn't the stupid celebrations all the time. It was the fact that it was 12 yards down the field damn near every time.

And after we were already behind by a couple TD's

Yup Fargo.

Those Fagio defenses were just down right embarrassing. I remember the "low of the lows" for me. One of my best buddies was a new fan of the NFL. He went to Syracuse and when Philly drafted Mcnabb, he followed him and became an instant Eagles fan. He didn't know much, if anything, about the NFL.

I don't know what year it was but we played Philly on Sunday night. I went to his house to watch the game. I had been:

Angry
Frustrated
Pissed......You name it. I had run the gamut of emotions about the Vikes. I had never been embarrassed though. Until that night.

Orlando Thomas got juked out of his jock and literally tried to trip the RB while he was on his ass. He whiffed, BTW, badly. They highlighted it and showed the replay. It was just a face palm moment in a couple years of just awful defenses.

New rule change: no aggressive behavior and you have to tell the opponent your plan of action before the play or it results in a penalty

I thought the same thing. If he wanted the ring, he would have gone to Seattle for less.

End of the day...it's all about the money.

Respect that
Same here with whomever we pick.
Let's see what they can do.
I'm ok with Cassel until some kid figures the game out.
I just love what Manziels done. Nothing negative as far as I'm concerned.
Beaten the best at his level, with inferior teams.
Had fun and created excitement.
Let's see if it can work here. Hell, we've failed at many high picks, let's not think this could be the first one.
I'd hate to pass on Tarkenton II or even Favre II.
I'm a big fan of gunslingers. We've sorely lacked that at QB since my boy Tommy Kramer hung em up.
I want the confident dude who walks in and stirs shit up.

Facebook/JAllen

I'd like to take a moment to thank my former teammates, coaches and the staff at the Minnesota Vikings for all of their inspiring work and dedication. Perhaps more importantly I would like to thank the fans and the Minnesota community. I can only hope that I have left with you all, with even a fraction of the positive support and impact you have had on my life, my foundation and my family. I am very excited about this next chapter in my career with the Chicago Bears and can't wait to see what the future holds for us. God bless. -JA

I don't fault any player let go by his former team signing with a rival.

When Favre signed here, Packers fans wen't ballistic.  They lost their damn minds.  His number should have been retired before he did.  He should have a permanent bust in the Packers HOF, but those fools will feel sore for decades because he finished out his career in Purple.  When they should have been mad at Packers management for letting him go so that he could sign with another team (I get why they did but still).

Jared Allen gave us the best years of his career.  I will never complain about him playing for a rival.

We unleashed it already.

Like an old dog, it just stood there, sniffed the air, then laid down.
