I go back and forth on this draft. I'm not enamored with any of the QB's really. Bridgewater I share SMF's concerns; just something "off" to me, and the small hands are a concern. Bortles is just such an unknown, though I could get on board with him because he fits Norv's scheme. I LOVE the Norv move, btw. Have been clamoring for him as our OC for years.

Manziel I've heard several analysts say it and I agree. I used to think he'd be a bum in the NFL; then last year, especially the Alabama game, made me a believer. I now think he'll be really really good most likely BUT...I think the way he plays he will get hurt, and often. Call it an RGIII syndrome or whatever. I just don't think he will be willing to change his game to avoid hits, etc. He may be great initially but I really believe he will get hit and hurt quite a bit.

I want a LB on this team; we've lacked one forEVER. And that would tie the rest of this defense together, especially when you shift Greenway to a #2 spot. I could get on board with sticking with the pick and getting Mosley (a LB with coverage skills? sign me up) and a QB with a tradeup late in round 1 or early 2. And while I don't think there's any way he makes it to us and I like our WR's, I could get on board with Watkins too, simply because I think he'll be that good. Watkins/Patterson/Jennings would scare the living daylights out of defenses with Adrian running and Rudolph at TE.

I guess where I'm at:

I want a LB first (Mosley) and think the QB's are close enough that I'd be okay taking one in the late 1st or early 2nd (Carr/Garopolo/Savage).
I'd take Manziel or Bortles and can get on board with it.
I'd be on board with Watkins if for any reason he slipped.
I'd like to get a Guard by the end of the 3rd rd.
CB I'd wait on.

Concerns about Bridgewater's hands are purely manufactured. There is like 1/8" difference between Bridgewater and Blake Bortles (Bridge 9 1/4, Bortles 9 3/8), but nobody worried about his hand size. If the Vikings get Bridgewater at #8 I will be very happy.

I'd be estatic if Mack was there, but there is no way that happens.

Ya. I think both Mack and Clowney will be studs, but they're not even worth discussing. Watkins is probably in the same category really.

I can get on board with Bridgewater, but I really have concerns with all 3. And I'd take Bortles/Manziel ahead of Bridgewater. I do like all of Carr/Garopolo/Savage, but I really think ALL the QB's in this draft are major risks.

I think the Vikes should actually seriously consider taking a hard look at a deal for Sam Bradford depending on what St. Louis does. I think with the right protection he can still be very good and I like him over any of these guys.

Peter King believes MN is the perfect fit for Bortles.

If the Vikes are sure he is not injury prone,
I would not be upset if they too CJ Mosley with their 1st rounder.

If he proves durable they would have a stud linebacker in place for 8-10 years.

Solid pick, solid player. Quiet, good kid. No fuss.

Everything you'd want in a pick that high.

Once again we're on the same page, man. Mosley is my guy too. A LB with coverage skills? Sign me up.

If they're not enamored with any of the QB's (they gotta be sure) then that's the way to go IMO. Could probably even trade back a couple spots and still get him and gain more ammo to trade back up later for a QB that slips.

I don't want any part of Mettenberger. Head case. Tyler Bray II.

He had troubles early in his college career but he's been pretty quiet the last 2 years right?

I mentioned him because he would be an ideal candidate for Turner's system. That assumes:

1. He's healthy (and he appears to be headed that way)
2. He's not a headcase that you mention.

If we are going to go LB, I would rather see them move up enough slots to grab Mack.

Mosley would be a perfect fit in many ways. Best coverage LB in the draft. Which is something we've desperately needed for a long time.

Jeff, I don't just mean off the field; I mean in games too. He just is not want I want from a mental toughness standpoint at QB.

Based on all of the mock drafts I've seen picking Mosley at 8 would be a big reach. Inside linebackers seem to rarely get drafted in the top 10.

Which is why I'm hoping to trade back a few spots and grab him, then trade up for whatever QB that slips. They do have an extra 3rd already. Get another high pick from a trade back and you've got some solid ammo to trade up from the 2nd rd pick.

MAN, do we ever need a stud LB in the worst way. I just think i'm ok with trading up at this point. We need so much. I'm actually hoping we trade down because I don't think a true "need" will only be there at 8. By that, I mean, the same type of guy we need is going to be there around 12-14, so why not trade back and get the extra picks?

Hmm, interesting DJ. You're in that neck of the woods. I've seen him a few times and loved his cannon of an arm but I've not seen him that much.

In fact, I've seen him and TB about the same amount. I have loved TB and I've been pretty cool about ZM. I wanted nothing to do with him until we hired Norv. I think he's the closest to a "NT" QB as there is. That is, based on, what i've seen.

Ya, Jeff. He's got the tools, but just never seemed to have the mentality. The fit is right prototype wise, but I just don't think he'll do anything the pros. Who knows.

I just don't see Mosely being anything close to the defensive monster that Mack is going to be. I see Mack running all over the field and blowing up plays. I don't that level in Mosely.

I can agree with that Sweens, but I don't think we have any chance at Mack. The cost to trade up that far is way too much. I think Mosely's going to be a really, really good pro for 10+ years.

Sure sounds like at least one of the big three QBs will still be there at eight.
Please get this right.

Except for Mack, I heard the other 1st rd LB are your typical 3-4 type LB.

Barr is pretty much a prototypical rush OLB for a 3-4, or even a smallish 4-3 DE.

Mosley is probably best as a 3-4 ILB, but can likely play outside in a 4-3. He might be a bit too slight to play MLB in a 4-3, but its not out of the question.

Ryan Shazier might be my 2nd favorite LBer in the draft behind Mack. If we miss out on Mack, I'd be much more inclined to trade back into the later part of the 1st for him - instead of drafting Mosley at #8.

I think Mosley can be had around 12-13. And Shazier later. I'd be good with either one in a trade back.
