This is not really NASCAR news, but since Robby is a "NASCAR legend," and there's nowhere else to post it, here it is:

http://www.dirtnewz.com/events-09/sanfelipe/robbygordon-3-16-09.shtml

What are these people whining about?  It's win at all costs in the Baja.  Doesn't sound like they have much proof anyway.

I found some follow-up news:  Robby cleared of charges.  I knew it wasn't true, Robby.

Martin won the pole again. I wonder if he will get yet another DNF

Kind of like watching Rusty Gatenby do the traffic report on KSTP.

Well at least a Hendrick car didn't win. I wish Hamel could have over taken his teammate.

I see DEI has let Aric Almirola slip out of the Top 35 without really caring very much.  Funny how they've let that 8 team twist in the wind since Junior left for Hendrick.  They never, ever would have been OK with such shoddy machinery when Junior was still in the 8 stable.  Now DEI seems fine with giving them the equipment they scrounged out of Hendrick's dumpster.  DEI is putting all of its resources into the 1 car of Truex.  Pretty sad and pathetic, really.

Definetly poor management from Theresa

Yeah, but one guy had his blinker on for almost the whole race. It really pissed me off.

Moving NASCAR back to the top.......

Qualifying at Martinsville should be very interesting today!  We have a number of quality drivers who will need to qualify on time because they are out of the Top 35 after 5 races.  Of particular interest to me are Paul Menard and Aric Almirola.  These are supposedly big money teams that could be missing a race!  If this becomes a trend, I would not be surprised to see NASCAR change the rules to Top 40 being locked in instead of the Top 35.  That would be a shame.  Personally, I'd like to see it cut down to Top 30 being locked in, but it will never happen.  I just think it would make qualifying a whole lot more interesting every weekend.  Ideally, money wouldn't talk so much, and everyone would have to qualify on time.  Imagine the excitement if Jeff Gordon or Earnhardt hit the wall during qualifying and missed the weekend race?  That would certainly throw a wrench into their hopes of making the Chase.

But those two are locked in. Now aren't the two you mentioned at DEI? You already touched on how bad they are running the company.

I like the top 35 and yes it would make it more interesting making it the top 30

Almirola is with DEI, but Menard is with Evernham this year.

What if there was nobody locked in?  Then guys like Gordon and Earnhardt would have to qualify on time....that would be cool.  Low budget teams would still run hard in qualifying, but the big budget guys would probably just focus on keeping it between the lines and hopefully having one of the Top 43 times.  But when a guy has a bad run, or hits the wall, then it will be big news that so-and-so didn't make the race.  Sure, there may be a lot of disappointed fans on race day if Gordon or Earnhardt didn't make the race.  Big sponsors would never go for it.

Not a good idea.  It would turn off way too many fans...like me....if my guy didnt make the race that week.  And for what?  So a no-name can make the race and finish a couple of laps down?  It would hurt Nascar more than it would help, especially moneywise.

Martinsville qualifying was rained out.  J. Gordon on the pole.  Looks like he was 3rd quick in the first practice.....

My response to that is Kenseth should just work on his qualifying skills!

I'm sure Matt would appreciate your advice.  After all, HE only has one Nascar championship under his belt.

And that will keep him in the races if he has a bad qualifying day.

I'm disappointed in the results of Sundays race. Both Gordon and Johnson started out with bad cars and I was all happy. They both have pretty good crew chiefs

Jimmie Johnson is just sick.  His car always seems to be terrible early....then FOX will warn you that "Chad and Jimmie usually find a way to make the car better...watch out..."  And I always think, no, not this time.  Just blow your engine for once.  But it never happens.  Before you know it, he's leading laps with a car that was complete junk at the beginning of the race.  Johnson will win another championship this year....count on it.

Robby had a nice run going...around 20th place...then he went up in smoke in spectacular fashion.  Pretty cool.  Just so he stays in the Top 35, he can blow as many engines as he wants.  Except at the road courses...I expect Robby to win those races.  Anything less is a disappointment.

Robby Gordon just clinging on to a Top 35 spot in the points.  A really disappointing season for him.  If he's not locked into the Top 35, he's not gonna be making any races on qualifying time.  COME ON, ROBBY!  Need a good finish tonight at Richmond.
