Matt how many races has Robbie won. Yes KK has a couple of wins, but we see to many of the races won by the big teams.

Robby has not won a race recently, but he did finish 3rd. You gotta admit that was pretty exciting!

I see what you guys might be saying. You're not saying there's no underdogs. You're saying the underdogs can't win.

Right!  Compare to Robbie to say....Alan Kulwicki.

NASCAR is so popular in here...

There was a race this weekend and NOBODY comments on it.

3 1/2 hours of going around in circles turning left.  Whoopee!

Matt I don't know if you have heard this yet and I hate to tell you, Robbie will run only 8 races next year due to lack of sponsorship money

Danika Patrick made it official yesterday by signing with JR Motorsports to drive a handful of races in the Nationwide series. This will be interesting seeing her drive a much heavier car especially on the banked tracks. She better in into the weight room

Jimmie Johnson named Male Athlete of the Year by The Associated Press.

I do respect the guy. He earned it.

But I hope he never wins another race.

I can't consider him an athlete

Don't you have to be an athlete to do that?

Don't get me wrong...I understand it takes skill and stamina and endurance to drive these races...but it's not like he's hitting 40 HRs a year, winning the modern triple crown, running for 2000 yards, scoring 90 goals, averaging a triple double a game or anything.

By that criteria, New York City cab drivers are eligible to be athlete of the year.

Saying a NASCAR driver is an athlete is like saying a golfer is an athlete because he WALKS 72 holes in 4 DAYS.

Big whoop.  I can walk that.  and I'm overweight and not in the least bit athletic.

Was just reading through this thread and realizes why no one post. Too many people come in here dogging on one of our favorite sports. More of an athlete than a Punto or Young standing around in the outfield.  Granted not the worlds finest, but really look at Young or Pat Williams for that matter.

sigh, I've said more than I should have.

Racing fans the Rolex 24 is 29 days away, always the start of racing season for me. Several Cup drivers committed to the race this year, can't wait.

Have you seen any of the teams? I'm curious if Danica is teaming with any NASCAR driver. I think she teamed with Rusty Walace a few years back

The only ones I know for sure is Jimmy Johnson is running with the team he ran the last few years. Bobby Labonte is driving a Porsche for TRG. I'll dig around and see what I can find out.

EDIT very unofficial list as of two weeks ago.

Jamie McMurray
Juan Pablo Montoya
AJ Allmendinger
Paul Menard
Jimmie Johnson
Bobby Labonte

No word on Danica, I would imagine here status would depend on the language of her deal with Andretti Autosport.

I know Little E and Tony Stewart have run it in the past but don't see their names either.

That's not true. We're not dogging a sport. We're dogging NASCAR.

Now for a serious NASCAR take.

I think Jimmie Johnson is probably the greatest driver of all-time. To win 4 consecutive titles in this "Chase" format is remarkable. Yeah, he's basically guaranteed to get in the Chase. But at that point, it should pretty much be a toss-up between those 12 (formerly 10) drivers. And he's won it 4 times in a row?? Move over Petty. There's a new greatest of all-time and we're watching him.

Is much as I don't like JJ he has to be in the conversation. Is see them ripping a few more titles in this run. Seriously who out there can beat them? I don't see anyone doing it. I don't see this team imploding, Knaus will not allow that to happen. As good as JJ is, this run is 80%(IMO) Knaus.

I think the Hendricks organization is cheating somehow and sooner or later will be found out how. Except for little E (why did they leave him out) are all dominate throughout the year

Whoa now! That's quite a accusation there, Jim. I haven't heard that one. Are there rumors floating around the NASCAR garages? That would be a difficult thing to keep secret, as these Organizations are hiring and firing guys all the time. If they were cheating, you'd think one of the employees/ex-employees would be disgruntled enough to spill the beans.
