Who does everyone like at Daytona?  I think Robby Gordon will shock the world.  But as long as anyone non-Hendrick wins, I'll be satisfied.

Unfortunately, I do see Jimmie Johnson winning the season title again.

By the way, I hate the new name Sprint Cup.  It makes it sound like little sprint cars....like down at the local track.  When they first started referring to the Sprint Cup, I thought they had added a new level of NASCAR that was below the Craftsman Truck series.

What happened to that one guy that used to do the NASCAR announcing back when it was carried on TNN?

Don't know who you mean, sorry.

I've only really been watching it since about 98 and I don't know who carried it then. While living in Calif, I was living real close to Riverside raceway and went to a few races there, including in the sponsors tower where the booze flowed freely. Some good times. I was also bar-tending at that time and worked many victory parties. The crews would party Friday and Sat at the club I worked. Yarbourough was a big a-hole

Jim, do you think Reed Sorenson has a chance today?

Here? As good as anyone. Problem here is while in front late in the race, experience is important in holding off those behind you. Will he have a partner up there at the end also?

Matt. I was surprised to see 6 of the top 10 being Dodges. I didn't think they would be that strong

Apparently, Auto racing is not considered a sport in here...seeing as how the discussion thread is in the same forum as "good jokes" and other non sports issues...

We could move it but to where?  Should I make an "Other Sports" section?

That might work. You could then move NCAA basketball from the Gopher forum etc etc

Congrats to the kid that won the Busch race this weekend...amazing!...just turned 18 years old!  I heard Joe Gibbs Racing is gonna promote him to Winston Cup in the next few weeks.  Could he be what NASCAR needs to bring its popularity back?

I don't know what happened to the other NASCAR board?  Anyway, nice win for Stewart yesterday.  I didn't hear any comments from Regan Smith about being disqualified?....is he pissed?

Yes he thought that he was forced down so that he could pass on the last lap. I didn't think he would be placed so low. I thought they would give him his position back. I guess they did equivalent to a black flag during a race.

Yes it was good to see Tony win again, but it helped with all of those other chasers being caught up in that last wreck.

It's a weekly sport!  What do you guys expect?  I'm not gonna post on Wednesday asking about the injury report on Stewart this week.  This isn't football.  NASCAR drivers actually play thru their injuries.  You can count on them to be out there.

the question is...should it  be called a sport?  Competition yes with strategy and endurance...sport...probably not.

ABC moved the end of last week's Phoenix race to ESPN2 so they could show America's Funniest Home Videos, which is a show I thought went to strictly reruns a dozen years ago.

I'm either psychic or just really lucky with my predictions lately.

Robby had a nice run last week.  Competitive all day.  Looking for more of the same today in Atlanta.  I'm ready to see someone different win a race for once.....even a Jeff Gordon or Dale Jr win would be OK at this point.

Well Matt, is Kurt Bush OK. As long as it wasn't a Hendrick team memeber.

Mark Martin only joind the Hendrick team because he thought that offered him the chance for the Championship that has avboided him. Now after 4 races, he has 3 DNF's.

Kurt Busch was OK...not the same old, same old.  I look for Kurt to be tough at Bristol this weekend too.  It's his kind of track.  My pick to win, though, is Greg Biffle.  If anyone was made for short tracks, Biff's the man.  I think Jr. will also have a strong car at Bristol.  I don't see any of the small-budget underdogs being able to compete there.  Too easy to fall multiple laps behind on a short track.  It will mostly be a Rousch/Fenway and Hendrick show, I'm afraid.  Stewart/Haas and Penske cars will also run well.  Can't wait for the road couses, where I expect Robby Gordon to win one this season.
