2021 UFA linemen

UFA Alex Redmond guard, Cincinnati
UFA Jermaine Eluemunor, guard, New England
UFA David Sharpe, tackle, Washington
RFA Ross Pierschbacher, guard, Eagles

Some bigger guys, with some experience.

They can’t all be as bad as dozier, Elfline, et Al.

Best thing since sliced bread I'm sure, if he's PAC XX.

The problem with these PAC XX players and Big 12 conferences is they don't play any defense, so you don't know how those offensive players who look great collegiately will translate in the pro's. There are many examples, but Dru Samia is one that currently hurts.

Unlike, say, Elflein from the Big 10.

Currently 13th. If Denver wins, we are at 12.

The best we can do is around #8 depending on Dal-Phi today. The lowest we pick will be #15 (which assumes a win next week).

Tell that to Erik Kendricks, the guy who was easily our best defensive player all season long.

Samia went to Oklahoma, which is Big XX. Your point is most germane when it comes to offensive skill players who get ballyhooed playing against mostly bad defenses. Defensive players who stand out tend to be very good, though, as Brad pointed out.

Aaron Rodgers (Pac 12) seems to have done pretty well for himself. Patrick Mahomes was Big 12. Rob Gronkowski (Pac 12). Keenan Allen (Pac 12). Justin Herbert (Pac 12). Zach Ertz (Pas 12). Christian McCaffrey (Pac 12). Tyler Lockett (Big 12). Some of the elite weapons in the league.

Almost 1/3rd of the starting quarterbacks in the league right now played at Pac 12 or Big 12 schools. The six from the SEC; Matthew Stafford (inconsistent), Drew Lock (awful), Tua (unproven), Cam Newton (old), Brandon Allen (career backup). Ryan Tannehill (decent player). Joe Burrow should be good when he gets healthy.

The two rookie wide receivers from Alabama this season are major disappointments. Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs can't catch a cold.

There's plenty of good players, no doubt. But there have also been loads (more than the good?) who have dramatically underperformed their can't-miss projections. Happens in every conference, but I have learned over the years that what seem to be elite offensive skill players from the Pac 12 and the Big 12/10 need extra scrutiny/skepticism.

Couldn't tell you the first thing about him. I rarely watched college football this season.

As opposed to Laquon Treadwell (SEC), Cordarrelle Patterson (SEC), Percy Harvin (SEC), Sidney Rice (SEC) or Troy Williamson (SEC)? The SEC experience has been pretty bad for the Vikings over the past 15 years.

Our first three round picks need to be O line and D line. First round the best Left tackle or best D end

A lot of draft capital may be needed on D, cupboard is getting empty. I have heard the lowest we may pick in the first round is 15, I was hoping we could be in the top ten but I believe we will beat Detroit this
Sunday.

I'd look for a G or 2 before a T. Hopefully 1 G is FA.

I think O'Niel and Cleveland are your T's going forward.

Assuming we don't go QBotF, my 1st 3 picks or DL, G, S assuming value is there for those positions. We need to increase pass rush whether a DE or DT, take the best available with the 1st pick.

If you go for the best player available, then you have to consider a wide receiver again for the Vikings in the first. Just saying. It's early.

If the management ignores blatant need by going “best player available” without prioritizing at least a demonstrated competent pass protection player for the money pit at QB, then..fire them all

We need to invest heavily in the trenches. W/O being able to fill in a position or two with FA's we will again be weak on both lines even if we drafted 12 OL/DL players.

Losing that 2nd rd pick is huge. What a stupid move.

It virtually a guarantee if Zimmer remains the first pick will be a S. He values DBs over everything.

There's not enough first and second rounds in this draft to address all the needs this team has. There's not enough money available to address them in free agency either.

Our quarterback's contract is killing this team, period. Because of him, we need the greatest offensive line in NFL history and because of his contract we have no money for high-profile free agents.

Find a buyer for Kirk Cousins. That should be the first order of business.
Which teams are suckers? The Raiders? The Falcons? Denver? Bears? Giants?

My first call is to John Elway. He seems to have no idea what a good QB looks like in the year 2020.

Next is to the guy in Atlanta. Their QB is one of the only quarterbacks with less mobility than Cousins. Matt Ryan Killed the Falcons this season. Cousins looks like Usain Bolt compared to him. Has the same pocket awareness.........NONE!

Cousins has a terrible contract to be sure, but he's far from the only one. There are multiple bad contracts killing this team.

The Rams are going through the same thing with Jared Goff, who has to be one of the worst five quarterbacks in the league. He's making $33.5-million. Even worse.

I'd rather drag Eli Manning out of retirement than have that guy under center.

Without a doubt Cousins is grossly over paid. But there were several other moves that have not helped either.

-Asking Rudy to take a pay cut. Instead Rudy walks away with a multi year ext. Nice neg tactics...This after investing a 2nd rder to replace him. The only concession is that it freed up some money now but it still has to be paid.

-Re-signing Barr to like 14ml per. Again freed up money this year but it has to be paid.

-Ext Cousins so we could free up 10ml now but all but crippling our cap the next two seasons.

-Also moved some money around on kendricks contract to free up money now but has to be paid later.

-Reiff was the only move that panned out. But could have been disasterous on the field had he left.

Basically Spielman has been kicking the can down the road the last couple off seasons in an effort to win now when clearly the team needed to be purged and rebuilt. In the end it's the Wilf Bros ultimately responsible for this salary cap mess. Spielman is pulling the strings but he is simply in job preservation mode and will continue to make more crippling moves that are going to set this franchise back for the next regime. Wilf's had an out but blew it and are now married to Spielman's desperate ways unless their willing to eat Spiel's and Zim's extensions.

The Rudolph and Barr contracts are worth more than they deserve, but the Cousins contract is just obscene. Every team has a Rudolph and Barr contract on the books. Cousins is making double what he deserves. It's inexcusable.
