WTF! Gallo goes on the IL and they bring up Garlick instead of Wallner?

Wallner has to wait 10 days. Learn the rules.

Not when it's an injury replacement. Perhaps you shoud follow your own advice.

Wrong. And you know it.

I'm 100% correct. When a player is sent to the minors, he must remain for 10 days with the exception of if they are needed to replace an injured player. The strib article says that Garlick was recalled instead of Wallner because the Twins will be facing several left handed pitchers in the comings games.

Offense has been brutal way too often.
Injuries are a big part of it, but Wallner should be up getting some chances. Kepler continues to slump.

Not to mention Michael A Taylor and his .646 OPS.

Great pitching by Ryan but gives up a run in the top of the 7th. Inept hitting by the Twins. 2 hits, both by Taylor.
Kepler continues to suck.
Maybe he can be out designated Cleveland Home Field player.
Every other location he sucks.
Thielbar comes in with 2 outs and runner at second and gives up a triple.
Great Idea by Rocco to ease Thielbar into game competition after his injury.

Twins win first 2 and lose next 2. Twins scored 4 runs in last 3 games.
Wasted a good pitching effort with an inept offense run by the hitting guru Popkins.

It may have been a good idea to have a guy hitting .392 with an on-base percentage of .445 on the team in a game like that.

I'm no genius. I understand that.

I am an old school baseball guy and the trends of the game are pushing me away. I'm not interested in exit velocity or pitch clocks. The game is actually very simple if you block out all of the noise. It's also beautiful, if played right.

The 2023 Twins have a very good pitching staff. One of the best the franchise has ever had. However, they are one of the least fundamentally sound offensive teams I have ever seen. It borders on awful.

When people think Joey Gallo is a great baseball player, the game has really deteriorated. Dude is batting .188 for the year. I was around when Rod Carew batted 200 points higher.

The guys in this era can swing. The guys in my era could hit. It's like comparing a 7th grade art project to a Picasso or Rembrandt.

Good thing they demoted Wallner so Maxi-pad could play.

What you just posted, I can agree with almost all you said. But just get over the Arraez trade. Lopez and two prospects for a very good hitter and a defender with limited skill was a decent trade. Lopez started out great but as Tim has noted, he is not the same as he was when he first came on board.
Not only do the present hitters in baseball fail to make contact enough of the time while swinging from their heels, they also fail miserably in getting runners on third in with less than two outs when all that is needed is a fly ball. Randy Bush excelled in that area. The Twins have sufficient offensive talent but whatever is the problem, they are not executing. In pro sports, you don't get rid of all the players, you change coaches and or manager. I would dump Popkins. I would also dump Rocco but he was just extended. My issue with Rocco deals mainly with his handling of pitchers. He has little feel for the way they are pitching in the game.

If you go back far enough into the 60's, pitchers dominated and hitters in 1968, Yaz won the batting title with a 301 average. In 68, Denny McLain won 31 games. After 68, they lowered the pitching mound and hitting averages and power increased.

I think it will take some time for hitting to adjust to the new aspects of the game and move away from over emphasis on launch angle and get back to having more players take a more level swing through the strike zone. One would have thought that the exaggerated shifts would have done that but now shifts are no more but the removal of the live ball should help.

And Rocco's probably kicking himself for not pulling Ryan after the 6th.

What bothers me is that no one tried to disrupt McKenzie at all. Couple of examples would be call time out after the first strike or even simpler bunt on him. Taylor and Castro when in the bottom of the order first time thru....take a pitch, call timeout and bunt the 2nd pitch...

The problem I see is that Pohlad cheapness combined with Falvine ineptitude sets chain reactions into motion.

Two years ago the Twins were too cheap to pay Jose Berrios. As a result they traded Berrios for Austin The Bust Martin and Simeon Woods-Richardson whoes development has suddenly hit the wall in AAA. As a result of trading Berrios, they traded one of their few worthwhile prospects to get two years of Sonny Gray. The ineptitude of Falvine meant that there were no front line starters coming up, meaning they continued to have holes in the rotation. That along with the pending departure of Gray after this year (because they won't pay him) meant they were so desperate for starters they traded one of their few valuable pieces, Arraez for Pablo Lopez. They have now signed Lopez to almost the same yearly salary that they wouldn't give Berrios.

If the Pohlad's and Falvine had just sacked up and paid Berrios two years ago, they could have a rotation of Berrios, Gray, Ryan, Ober, Varland and have Arraez in the batting order.

The Pohlad's need to sell the team. The new owners need to fire Falvine. Whoever replaces Falvine, needs to overhaul the scouting and drafting department as well as fire Rocco and his staff. Then all we have to do is hope it's not meet the new boss the same as the old boss and get down on our knees and pray, we don't get fooled again.

That isn't entirely accurate; Berrios wanted way more than what he settled for (by the time they went to the table)---he was driving a hard bargain; it is true they waited way to long to try to sign him to extension. I would still rather have Lopez than Berrios (2-3 years younger).

The worst thing the Twins did is not trade Polanco and Kepler.....if they had sold high rumors were many teams wanted Kepler 2 years ago. Those 2 should have been traded for pitching at that time.

I haven't given up on Lopez. I still think he could be a very good pitcher. Whether he and prospects were worth Arraez, I don't know. I'm done analyzing the trade. It's over. I liked Arraez, but can only worry about who's here now.

Oh bullshit. You have know idea what Berrios wanted from the Twins. That he took less from Toronto makes no sense since he was set to be a free agent. The Twins didn’t want to meet his price and traded him. It's that simple.

BS I heard 6/150 or 6/180 being thrown around and then after the trade he wasn't as dominant; settled for 7/131.

3) 5/118 was the figure mentioned by another poster.

The first says what the writer would offer Berrios, not what Berrios asked for.

The second one is someone claiming Doogie said something. Doogie didn't know the specifics of any negotiations.

Berrios also didn't have any significant fall off after the trade that would have reduced his value. The Twins never go more than 4 years for a pitcher. My guess is if Berrios's agent said $20M, it was on a 4 year deal. The most likely scenario is that the Twins offered on a 4 year deal what Berrios was looking for on a 7 year deal.

Get some freaking hitting.
WTH????

Buxton is hurt.
Correa is pathetic.
Kepler should be gone.
Twins lead all of baseball in strikeouts and it's not really close.

Who is the spokesman for the Pohlads?

We need someone to come out and say this brand of baseball is unacceptable.

If we strike out less than 12 times, it is a good night.

Awful effort with no real consequences. Except Wallner who ripped it up and got sent down.
