It could have been so much better if the Vikings beat the lofty price of a 6th round pick for Geno Smith and a 7th. As simple as saying we'll give you a 6th and we can keep your 7th. To this point, last year's McCarthy looks better than this year's Murray.

Tyreek is kind of interesting. We could really use a WR3 upgrade.

But he's 32 years-old and it was just 1 year ago yesterday that he suffered a gruesome dislocated left knee and multiple torn ligaments (including his ACL and LCL).

I'd rather try to find a RB (or especially a QB...)

I thought Jennings was our WR3? The bigger bodied contested catch wr we were lacking?

I see zero need for another wr when our qb(s) can't even get the ball to the 3 we have.

Agree with you on QB and RB.

We’ve added RBs Dallas Neal Estime recently, plus there’s still Claiborne to develop.

I totally agree with moving on from JJM and getting whatever you can … but sticking with Brosmer as your #3 offsets that move negatively IMO. We have to try out a QB or two or three … and hopefully come up with a viable #3 option.

No below avg QB floating around out there - Levis Milton etc - is going to be any less a fit system-wise for KOC than freakin’ Murray.

Because of Murray's propensity for injuries and Wentz being a statue, they may best be served finding another Mr. Fundamental Vet or someone with experience instead of the stereotypical clipboard holder they can try to develop. Which would further limit options.

For example, someone posted a rumor about Spencer Rattler. First reaction is how in the heck would he make a difference. But that type of backup caliber QB is about the best we'll get, and that's with a day 3 pick, plus assumes another team wants to trade.

Otherwise, there is little to choose from... hell, break glass in case of emergency Joe Flacco isn't even available.

We 'should' beat Miami. And although it's still early in the season, we're tied for the 4th easiest strength of schedule. Saints could be surprisingly tough, and we play Buff and SF. Atlanta beat us last year. Outside of that there are the division games and several lesser teams.

Yet with the deep flaws on offense, it boils down to how much smoke and how many mirrors have we stockpiled. Because barring something crazy, an upper flight QB isn't riding in to save things.

Tied for 28th in yards per rush.

Last in 1st downs: 32nd passing, T31st rushing.

Last in receptions per game. Although that's cherry picked, it's never good to be unintentionally last.

Not sure what they're seeing in Brosmer they like so much. I'd have much rather taken a flyer on Jake Strand.

Murray may prove to be unplayable in this offense or succumb to injury. Wentz will end up in the hospital after a few starts and then we're looking to Brosmer?

Garrappalo (although made of peanut brittle) is out there.

Agreed, McCarthy lost big career wise, unless he got himself out of a bad situation with a HC that disliked him, and into a more favorable situation, we will see.

He was given the last game to show something and chose not to. Makes it hard for many fans to stick to their guns on him at that point. He was lucky he was only on timeout for 3 weeks instead of cut. I am positive the JJM camp didn’t want him cut. That would be the highest embarrassment.

If JJM was trying to change the offense usually afforded to a Cousins or Favre. Well that just further proves it was a great move to move him.

I told you two years ago he was shitty. What took you so long?

I made a comment on the Gophers thread that former QB, Athan Kaliakmanis, was in as a 3rd stringer for Washington. 7th round rookie. He wasn't great, made some bad throws but looked about as good as any Viking QB has in about a year. It's not hyperbole.
