It's like the various apps and sites that have to come up with content no matter what it is.

The latest trend is a headline that looks factual, and towards the end of the announcement This is an opinion not a ~ real thing.

First half, defense optional.

Second half, offensively challenged.

All but 3 points in the game scored in the first half.

What looked like a barnburner at the beginning ended up being a dud. but the weather delay probably had a lot to do with it.

Jerry Jones " we are one impact defensive player from winning that game" I wonder who they could have had?

But Det should be very worried about its oline. That was one of their strengths. If Goff gets flustered he starts throwing the ball to the wrong team. He's looked good the last couple years because the Oline kept him pretty clean. Losing Ragnow to retirement has had a far greater effect than they realized, Methinks.

It was nice to see the Lions get knocked off the pedestal a bit. but Losing to the Packers is not. Packers have already matched their division win total from 2024.

Tags and posts are apples and oranges in a way. I view tag lines differently than direct political posts in the Vikings/football threads if a person posts primarily in the political threads.

I don't recall playing tag line cop (but will defer to you on that) because I don't notice let alone read tag lines. They are sort of in the background. If I did comment on yours it was because it was new (ergo it caught my eye) and/or was pretty ****ed up.

If someone read specific posts in the political thread, they'd know what the tag was about. Otherwise, it doesn't show any political bend or lean.

But I'll delete it regardless.

Status: offline 		Jim Marshall is a nominee again. Odds are still stacked against him getting in. Too many players with good resumes so it would almost have to be luck of the draw. And while SB appearances alone shouldn't dictate things, they are a factor when a player did great in the championship games and SBs. Or when a player was invisible. Marshall has zero sacks vs Miami, Pittsburgh, and Oakland (1 vs KC). And although rushing was in vogue back then, they ran all over the Vikings to the tune of 196, 249, 266 yards respectively.

And Foreman, no.

Status: online 		It’s official, dadgummit. The Indianapolis Colts are bringing 44-year-old quarterback Philip Rivers out of retirement and signing him to their practice squad, league sources told The Athletic on Tuesday.

Rivers, who retired after leading the Colts to the playoffs in 2020, worked out for the team on Monday night, sources said. The team obviously liked what it saw, as the eight-time Pro Bowler will rejoin the franchise nearly five years after he last took an NFL snap.

California has a "jock tax" for non resident athletes. So Darnold made $178K playing in SB but he had to pay $249K in taxes for the week he was there. The "Jock Tax" was based off his salary for the year.

How does Cali have an $18B deficit when they taxing the living crap out of people?

Status: offline 		The Florida Senate has passed the "Teddy Bridgewater Act," which would allow high school coaches to spend up to $15,000 of their own money for player meals, transportation, and recovery services.

Bridgewater coached high school football in Miami and was suspended and then resigned for providing "impermissible benefits" to his players — which included Uber rides, physical therapy, pregame meals, recovery help, field paint, and more.

Deficit wise, in the major categories of government debt (overall state (10), long-term (<10), net pension (<10), other-post employment (7), total of bonds/loans/notes (10)) California is mostly at or lower than 10th per capita.

In overall tax burden, California is about 4th to 6th amongst various sites.

A household making $1.44 million is in California's highest tax bracket (12.3% + a 1% surcharge). The horror!

Other states have a jock tax too. Whether it is significant or not is an individual thing. California's imposes the same tax on Hollywood actors/entertainers. Wonder if crocodile tears are being shed for them?

And if taxes are too high, people are totally free to move to states like Mississippi, West Virginia, or N/S Dakota so that they can keep their "living crap" inside their bodies.

Status: offline 		Also, the jock tax has been in articles and in the news on and off since 19991. During those THIRTY-FIVE years, were people up in arms about athletes having to pay more? Or, because California is involved, is this a way for people to politicize yet another thing?

Rather than cherry pick Darnold's approx $30+ million salary as ammo for an outcry, how about showing the financial effects on say a trainer or administrator who was there for the same seven days.

If this is so unfair and outrageous, people need to walk the walk, set up a GoFundMe for Darnold, and contribute to poor Sam's cause!

As a footnote, the jock tax can be offset for residents of states that have an income tax. Washington isn't one of those states.

Status: offline 		HOUSTON -- The first of many offseason paydays for the Texans defense came Thursday with a one-year, $40 million contract extension for defensive end Danielle Hunter, a source confirmed to ESPN.

This is Hunter's second extension with Houston after signing a two-year, $49 million deal as a free agent in March 2024 following an eight-year stint with the Minnesota Vikings.

After he finished with 12 sacks and Pro Bowl honors in 2024, the Texans rewarded him with a one-year, $35.6 million extension to the back end of that original deal. They also gave him a $12 million raise in 2025, bumping his salary to $32 million.

Hunter's second year with Houston surpassed his debut season as he finished with 15 sacks (third in the NFL) and 15 tackles for loss (eighth). His production earned him second-team All-Pro honors as the Texans' defense ranked No. 2 in scoring (17.4 PPG) and total defense (279.1 YPG).

Status: online 		The wife of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy was allegedly shot by the couple's son Sunday night at the family's home in Virginia.

Mia Bieniemy, 57, was hospitalized in stable condition Monday. Police in Loudoun County, Virginia, confirmed that a woman was being treated for "serious injuries" from multiple gunshot wounds but did not disclose her identity.

Elijah Zion Bieniemy, 27, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and discharge of a firearm inside of a dwelling, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Sources told ESPN that Mia Bieniemy was shot in the chest and arm.

"Our hearts go out to Eric Bieniemy," Chiefs coach Andy Reid said after Monday's practice. "Mia is stable, which is a plus. We all love EB, and you hate seeing those things happen."

Elijah Bieniemy is being held without bond at a detention center in Loudoun County, according to police.

Time once again for my usual, annual, pull right out of my buttocks Picks for the 2026 NFL season.

My accuracy on these has been, well, pathetic over the years but it's still fun to speculate.

So I will start with the AFC.

AFC East

Buffalo Bills. The recent perrenial favorite with perrenial MVP candidate Josh Allen at QB opens as the favorite to win the division. but it wont finish that way. Still a likely playoff team. Though moving on from Sean McDermott might take them down a notch.

New England. I still to this day can't figure out why the Titans let Mike Vrabel go. But he was a very good hire for the Pats. Mayo with another year under his belt will be better. This team upsets the Bills and takes the division. They did play in the Superbowl last year so it shouldn't be a big surprise that they are good this season (although recent crashes by superbowl losing teams suggests they make suck more than expected).

Miami Dolphins. New Head coach and Malik Willis as your starting QB. recipe for disaster. Though the Fins have sucked for quite some time...So nothing new here. Maybe there's a honeymoon, but putting all your faith in Willis leading you to the promised land? STUPID.

New York Jets. They've been so bad for so long...nothing changes here.

AFC North

Baltimore Ravens. New head coach. Who knows...a breath of fresh air made have them jump up. I have belied this was the team to beat the last few years...boy I was wrong. So a fresh perspective could have them improve...or it could make matters worse.

Pittsburgh Steelers. New Head Coach. Aging veteran at QB in his last year. and that new HC was a failure at his last stop (But then most coaches working for Jerry Jonse are these days). They are trying to capture some magic from the past here. Might be the Steelers first losing season in forever here.

Cleveland Browns. Need I truly say more? Ugly situation. Probably playing for the first overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft here.

Cincinnati Bengals. Let's face it, the Defense is a giant Question mark. But I will say this...IF and that is one giant IF...Joe Burrow can stay healthy they have a good shot at winning this division in flux and making a playoff run. I say he does and they do.

AFC South

Indianapolis Colts. Well they've been Moribund for a long time. and nothing will change here. Best offensive player is an aging RB. QB who struggles to stay healthy. Can't see them being competitive.

Jacksonville Jaguars. Team on the rise. Good coaching with a year of experience under their belts. Decent younger QB in Lawrence. I see a team on the rise here.

Tennessee Titans. Should never have gotten rid of Mike Vrabel. They have new coaching and maybe Cam Ward takes a step up...but I will believe it when I see it.

Houston Texans. Simply put....if CJ Stroud returns to form from his rookie year...this team may be the sleeper to win the AFC. That Defense is elite. all they need is solid QB play and this team is rocking.

AFC West

Las Vegas Raiders. In full rebuild mode. But could surprise people. Good young players at TE and RB. But still a year or two away from real contention as long as Mark Davis doesn't continue to meddle.

San Diego Chargers. Even with a Harbaugh coaching....underachievers of the decade.

Kansas City Chiefs. Well with the great Mahomes hobbled at best to start the year they will be playing catch up all season. That being said. Andy Reid is one of the best coached of all time...and will have them in contention, much to my own chagrin.

Denver Broncos. Coached by a doucebag, but still the team to beat. Nearly made the Superbowl last year. Hard to dismiss. But golly I really hate Sean Payton.

AFC Playoffs.

Wild cards.
Chiefs, Jaguars, and Bills
Division Winners

Texans, Broncos, Bengals and Patriots

Wild Card Round
Patriots defeat Jaguars
Bills defeat Broncos
Texans defeat Chiefs

Division Round
Bengals defeat Texans
Bills defeat Patriots

AFC Championship
Bengals defeat Bills

NFC East

Dallas Cowboys. THIS IS FINALLY THE YEAR. Every Cowboys fan says until they play a few games....they will not win another title as long as Jerry Jones keeps running things.

Washington Commanders. Will Daniels be healthy? If so, they may make another run.

Philadelphia Eagles. Perrenial favorite to win the division. This year probably no different. Hurts may start facing intensifying scrutiny from fans and Nick Siriani's weird behavior may finally unravel this team. but still the favorite to win the division.

New York Giants. Like the AFC compadres that they share a stadium with, they've stunk for years, not going to change this season. Jaxson Dart will likely be exposed. John Harbaugh may have a positive effect on the team, but they've got some serious rebuilding left to do.

NFC South

Saints, Falcons, Bucs and Panthers.

Well, all of them stink so bad, its just hard distinguish one from the rest.

Saints. I don't like their QB situation. Their RB is aging fast. Their defense is questionable....pass

Falcons. relying on Tua Tagovailoa? LOL. Some good young talent in Pitts, London and Robinson, but it wont be enough to overcome the shitshow at QB.

Buccaneers. Their best asset and chance at success, Baker Mayfield, is pissed off about his contract situation. They let their best offensive weapon go. The WRs that remain were both injured last year. Sad situation.

That leaves the Panthers as the likely division winner by default. If Bryce Young can keep improving...otherwise the division is a toss up of sucktitude.

NFC West

LA Rams. Everyones darlings. Everyones Superbowl pick. They are just too talented at every position to not win it all. And usually when there is a team that is being hyped up this much....they end up blowing it in the division round. Which is kind of where I am leaning.

San Francisco 49ers. Honestly, they need to blow it up, drop all these oft injured superstars and start over. But adding Evans was a good move. They will be a good team for the 6 games they have McCaffrey. Can Purdy, Kittle, etc stay healthy enough for them to make a run? Not counting on it. It's a shame cause Kyle Shanahan is a really good coach.

Seattle Seahawks. Superbowl honeymoon. They will surprise no one this year. They lost their best RB which may hurt Darnold. They will take a step back this year, but until unseated they are the reigning Superbowl champions.

Arizona Cardinals. They sucked and they are paying a QB millions to not play for them. They are going into this year with lifelong backup QB Jacoby Brissett as the starter....they may be in competition for the first overall pick in the 2027 draft.

NFC NORTH - the most entertaining division in football this year. Any of these four teams could emerge as the division winner. And any could collapse into the pit of despair.

Green Bay Packers. Sorry Packer fans. Out of spite I will not give the division to you. Without Micah Parsons, an almost entirely new WR crew, their best RB suspended they are not going to get out of the gates fast this year and will play all year catching up.

Detroit Lions. The year of Jamhyr Gibbs. Stop this guy and Jared Goff folds. Predicting another last place finish.

Chicago Bears. With that coach and improvements they made they should be pretty good. However, they won a lot of games last year right at the end. Close wins. Remeber a few years ago when our beloved Vikings did the same and the averages reverted to the mean? Same will happen here. Games they would have won last year they wont this year. Still a tough team.

MINNESOTA VIKINGS. OK, as BAD as our QB situation was last year, we still went 9-8. The defense got younger, but more athletic. Harrison Smith back for one more shot. I am still a little dubious on Kyler Murray leading us to the promised land, but with the improved running scheme, Three really good WRs, a good TE sitiuation, and at least competent QB play...along with a pretty good defense, we finally put it all together and win, a lot.

Wild Cards.
Bears, Seahawks, 49ers

Division winners
Vikings, Panthers, Eagles, Rams

Wild card round
49ers beat Panthers
Bears beat Eagles
Rams beat Seahawks

Division Round
Vikings defeat Bears
49ers defeat Rams

NFC Championship
Vikings defeat 49ers

Superbowl.

Vikings finally win the Superbowl over the Bengals.
