Brady refusing to give up the fight on his suspension.....

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/15674493/tom-brady-new-england-patriots-files-appeal-court-decision-upheld-four-game-suspension-deflategate

I'm kind of glad he's not just rolling over to the NFL on this. Other QBs have come out and stated they have manipulated air pressure in game balls and the NFL has yet to go after any of them...This seems to be all about 'going after' the Patriots and nothing else.

they didnt destroy cell phones or impede investigation (as there was not one)

the cover up added to the punishment, along with prior incidents

fine was probably enough until the cover up, IMO

It's not unusual in sports or life in general for one person to get punished for breaking the law (or league rule) even though others have done it before them. No court in the land will accept the "yeah, but other people do it too" defense when someone has been found committing a crime.

I've heard that argument before, but the thought that the league is somehow targeting the Patriots seems absurd when you think about how successful that team has been and how much it means to the league. If anything I'll bet they had tons of internal discussions about this, wondering how they were going to actually "prosecute" the golden child. But in the end they decided they had to show that even the golden child can't get away with cheating. They went easy on Belichik for the videos of other teams walk-throughs and they knew they couldn't look the other way again.

I agree remember in the NBA? All the under the table deals and finally they catch the Wolves and then Stern sent the message to the league through Minnesota? Roger is just as big of egomaniac Ass Clown as Stern and I never thought I would despise a Commissioner more or same as David Stern.

The cell phone destroy does not bother me because he destroys all of his cell phones when he is done with them this was not the first time. Second like has been mentioned, many quarterbacks like to customize the footballs. Aaron Rodgers likes them over inflated. Notice no other quarterback currently in the league, has ever come out and cried foul on Brady. To me that silence speaks volumes.

Aikman did.

I doubt any current QB in the NFL would EVER speak publicly about this issue. Doesn't speak volumes to me at all.

Not to mention there was no evidence of deflation, much less intentional deflation.

I'm completely not following that. There was no act, ergo no cover up/lack of cooperation.

???

that sounds a lot like your 'not a starter' even if you start 16 games spiel.

an investigation can happen without an 'act', and then the investigation would/should conclude there was no 'act'. and a person can impede that investigation.

investigations happen all the time that find out there was no 'act'

YMMV

Yes a person "can" impede an investigation, just no evidence of it here.

The testing of the footballs and finding them under inflated I would consider evidence. Not saying irrefutable but certainly evidence.

No player has ever been suspended for impeding a NFL investigation. Many have been fined for outright lying etc but never missed a game.

IMO; This is not the time or issue to set a new precedent.

The Ravens lost one of their OTA's because they had their rookies wear pads for a practice. Stupid. I'm sure they will never do that again.

What is all lost in deflate gate is the ref's pregame inspection.

These inspections are half ass at best. A former ball boy was describing an inspection as the ref digging a couple balls out and merely giving them the hand squeeze test. No gauges ever used.

One could easily argue the balls were either not inflated to the proper psi to begin with, or were at the bare minimum psi and the gas law and big guys landing on footballs throughout the 1st half helped deflate them further.

Deflate gate reminds me of the Mitchell Report in baseball.

Rather than investigating Selig/owners/mangers on why they continued to look the other way they deflected blame by going after more players that used.

Joke

What is lost in Deflate gate is that the league allows teams to have any contact with game equipment at all. The Game balls should be Provided by, managed etc by the league. Not the teams playing the games.

There is not a single scientifically credible piece of evidence to demonstrate that the balls were actually deflated by a person, rather than the elements. The physics is clear, and replicable - a ball will lose that amount of pressure when subjected to the wet, cold conditions of the sort at the time of the game.

There is not a single scientifically credible piece of evidence to demonstrate that the balls were actually deflated by a person, rather than the elements. The physics is clear, and replicable - a ball will lose that amount of pressure when subjected to the wet, cold conditions of the sort at the time of the game.

I don't buy that at all. The amount of deflation was above the standard pressure loss or the NFL would have never made an issue of it. My experience with footballs is they deflate very little over the course of the game.

Only the Patriots footballs were deflated. Right?

The testing of the footballs and finding them under inflated I would consider evidence. Not saying irrefutable but certainly evidence.

Could you explain that in terms of the Ideal Gas Equation/Law?

Funny.

This is such bullsiht. If you hate NE because of their success you want them to fry. If you like them or have the ability to be objective you think this is so stupid.
