Trade Waynes, Treadwell and a 4th rounder for Williams.

Or you could go Reiff, Treadwell and a 4th.

Or Waynes, Reiff and Treadwell for Williams.

Hmm Trent Williams. I will have to look into that. Doesn't make a lot of sense to trade Waynes in a deal for him.

There are a lot of Williams playing NFL football. Which Williams would you be referring to?

Yeah I'd missed Bruce's bit about Trent. Found it on further examination. Now I have to look into him and figure out if the idea makes sense.

.... Doesn't make a lot of sense to trade Waynes in a deal for him.

It does if you think that last year was a bit of an outlier for Waynes, that he is a playoff weakness, and that he will regress back to mediocre to poor this year.

And if you believe Rhodes will rebound, and that Hughes and Hill will be solid to spectacular.

Especially since Hill will miss the first 4 games and there are no assurances Hughes will be ready to go by the opener.

It's not an 'if' that Waynes was horrible in the Philly playoff loss.

I don't think it's a stretch that players in other positions can pick up the slack for the 1st 5 games, for the "loss" of Waynes, and that Zimmer can't coach up some other dbs.

Semantics. The calling card of a guy hopelessly losing a fight. Its at least 5 "ifs" (that last one is probably two ifs on its own):

1. It does if you think that last year was a bit of an outlier for Waynes,
2. that he is a playoff weakness,
3. and that he will regress back to mediocre to poor this year.
4. And if you believe Rhodes will rebound,
5. and that Hughes and Hill will be solid to spectacular.

Trent Williams must be pretty talented, both Realistic Randy and Andy Carlson like the idea of trading for him:

Wanting to trade for Williams and not wanting to trade Waynes have little to do with each other.

I am sometimes very literal, and I am not losing any argument here, only on your mind. A losing argument, is one that resorts to namecalling, or self declares a victory, one that has a lack of counterpoints, or has no strong points.

I think Waynes is a weakness, and that is a strong point.

Wanting to trade for Williams and not wanting to trade Waynes have little to do with each other.

And in the post you qouted, there was no mention of Waynes. Your wasting your time trying to attack me, or win some imaginary argument.

I am just wondering if there any other opinions out there about Trent Williams.

I figured you probably wouldn't have an opinion on Williams. If you're going to waste your time trying to start arguments, or using personal attacks, instead of just offering opinions or information, then by all means don't respond to my posts.

Just doing a little investigating, that game was played on November 25th. The Vikings ran the ball twice as many times as they passed. I think that was rather normal in those days. One of the Vikings receivers was Caroll Dale. He played for the Packers for many years, but I didn't realize he was ever a Viking. One of our other RB's was Ed Marinaro and another was Brent McClanahan. Bob Berry threw a couple passes probably in mop up.

Most famous for fumbling at the Raiders 1 yard line in SB (some Xs, Vs, and Is here)

One of the great brain farts in Vikings history. 1st and goal on the Raiders 1 in the Super Bowl. Why would you give it to anyone, but Foreman in that situation? Outsmarted themselves ... They'll never expect us to do something really stupid.

Well, they gave it to Peterson at about the same spot in the '09 NFC championship game and he did the same thing. It happens to the best, and it happens to the rest. But I agree I'd rather they had given it to Foreman.

Riley Reiff told me he would have had no issue moving from tackle to guard if #Vikings had done that or if ever want to “I’m here to help the team win either way Guard tackle whatever I’ll play Whatever they want me to do I’d be open to it I like LT but anything to help the team"

I appreciate receivers who are not blessed with the greatest speed, but work so hard and making themselves a better receiver- working on their quickness and their breaks, trying to add things to their game, but "looking the same" before they do it. The coaches are trying to do the same thing on the team level- trying to build a team with players who are versatile and so there are no "tells" when they are in the game, or even when they try to make things disguised by being creative with the formations. A lot of it is very fundamental, I'm sure. The offensive linemen need to look the same before the pass block or run block. The quarterback, when he's doing the run/ pass option needs to look the same either way. I'm sure so much of this is so subtle that most of us can not really notice this, including me.

I appreciate the coaches because I'm sure they are all doing soul searching- thinking about if they can come up with some great idea that can help the team win a game or two. They are looking at film and trying to figure out what the other teams are doing. The reason why it's a "copy cat" league is because they are all trying so hard to win.

I think the same way from afar. I mean, I can not help the team when I scream into the tv set, and I certainly don't have access to the coaches. Even if I did, what could i say. I don't know squat, but still i think throughout each day about how is it that the Vikings can get better. I bet that you all can relate and that's why you come here. Because you want the Vikings to win so bad. Really bad.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling. In my own way I'm trying to keep it going in a positive way. You know, to keep on point on the team and what's going on. This is a really slow time of the year, though. Nevertheless, there is so much more out there via the internet. I remember waiting for the newspaper when I was a teenager and turning directly to the sports section hoping that there was something about the Vikings. In the summer time, more times than not there was nothing, or there was some little trivial nugget Today besides coming here there is Twitter and Facebook. I belong to about four or five Facebook groups on the football. None of them are worth bleep compared to here. Still, I'm like an addict trying to get as much as possible to get my daily fix. I'm sure some of you can relate.

Anyway, I really want the Vikings to win a Super Bowl. Badly!

Great article. Top 10 takeaways from OTAs.

https://purpleptsd.com/vikings-spins-top-10-ota-takeaways/

Three that I was most interested in

2.) The WR 3 spot has some early favorites
A few players seem to be emerging and separating themselves from the pack in this position battle. The Vikings will likely keep either 5 or 6 players on the 53 man roster at WR this season and right now the guy who has been getting the most reps as the 3rd WR option for the Vikigns has been veteran Jordan Taylor. The 6’5 WR has played in Gary Kubiak’s offense before and has been instrumental in helping other WRs learn the new system. Kirk Cousins raved about his route running and he has shown excellent hands thus far according to reports. Chad Beebe, Dillon Mitchell, Laquon Treadwell & Jeff Badet have also gotten some WR 3 reps as well but not as many as Taylor. Beebe however has gotten more playing time then Laquon Treadwell which is quite telling about his status with the team right now as he will really have to fight for his roster spot this off season. Others like Brandon Zylstra, Bisi Johnson and UDFA’s Alexander Hollins & Davion Davis appear to be a little bit behind the others in the competition so far.

8.) Garrett Bradbury has been everything the Vikings could have hoped for so far.
Bradbury has come in right in from day one and established himself as the team’s starting center. His impression was major as QB Kirk Cousins remarked that he’d like to see Bradbury be the center here for the next decade. Reports say Bradbury looks every bit as quick & strong as advertised and he has dove right into the playbook and isn’t looking back. This is a great sign for the Vikings O-line and offense as a whole.

9.) Irv Smith JR & Alexander Mattison will get plenty of playing time this season.
The Vikings 2nd & 3rd rd picks from the draft are also playing key roles early on. Offensive Coordinator Kevin Stefanski has been extremely impressed with both Smith JR & Mattison and said that Smith JR has been playing more like a veteran than a rookie so far which bodes well for his development. The Vikings figure to be using a ton of 2 TE sets this season so both Kyle Rudolph & Irv Smith JR will be on the field at the same time quite a bit which will mean Smith JR will be getting plenty of work on offense. The same goes for Mattison who has been taking all of the RB2 reps this off season and has reportedly been showing off his pass receiving skills out of the backfield which are a key advantage for any offense to have RBs who can do it all.
