I absolutely missed the first one and love it.

Blasingame is fast for a fullback. Bodes well for making the final 53 as he would likely do well on special teams.

Blasingame could be a good backup to Mattison, in my opinion.

Not following.

I'm saying he could be a FB and an RB. He's probably faster than Mattison, but as a FB in college he must be good at running inside with the short yardage situations which is what we will be using Mattison a lot for. Also, from what I remember, he's really smart so he can probably handle learning two positions. Our other FB is mostly a good blocker and an occasional outlet pass catcher. Blassingame is very different.

A 5th rounder for a punter/kicker? He better win one of the jobs.

Center Garrett Bradbury had to change his pants during practice. Apparently the sweat thing is real when it’s hot out.

Hopefully it was sweat.

Not sure that those are legit FG approaches, but it's something you might expect when you give up a 5th rounder for the guy.

I wonder if there was a bit of a bidding war for him, the TV guy mentioned the Bears and Packers as teams needing a kicker after Vedvik kicked the 55 yarder.

I think we keep both Vedvik and Bailey.

It might end up with Vedvik doing both jobs if Bailey struggles.

The price was rather high, but I suppose that if our team wins the Super Bowl it's almost worth a sixth rounder. This is my take. The Vikings need to save a little money and want to cut Treadwell. They also would like an extra roster spot to activate one more defensive lineman on game day. They want to do a lot of rotations along that d-line to play better in the fourth quarter and they know very well that they have some excruciating cuts to make.

I don't see us just giving the P and K jobs to a guy who has never kicked in the league.

At worst, he is good enough to take Wile's job.

At best, he is good enough to take both jobs.

What I think happens is Vedvik is our punter and KO guy and long FG guy.

I had assumed this had to be a move replacing Bailey... even better if he could replace both.
However, from what I'm reading it could be replacing Wile... I'm MUCH LESS PSYCHED if it's a 5th rounder for a punter.

Could we just stabilize FG kicking this decade plz!

i'm sure they'll have vedvik do some field goal work in the preseason - it'll work itself out....

I have no doubt Beebe would be the best holder on the team but you cant put him in there if he's going to be a wr3.

I’d guess it’s the other way around. Wile is a better punter than Bailey is a kicker.

More #Vikings special teams changes: They informed veteran long snapper Kevin McDermott they’re releasing him, per source. McDermott held the job for 4 years and earned contract extension, but they’ll go with draft pick Austin Cutting. Starting over under new STC Marwan Maalouf.

I posted a few weeks ago that I would like to see Blasingame beat out Ham for the FB position. I've never been impressed with Ham...to me, he's just Blah Blah as a player. Nothing special. Blasingame looked good as a receiver and blocker. He helped Boone with his long TD.

Hopefully the coaches will give this young guy a few cracks with the 1's and see what can do.

Albeit we don’t know yet how special teams will look on the opener, I’m happy to see the team being proactive rather than reactive in regards to the roster. Even though Priefer assured us that he’d looked over ‘all of Dan Bailey ‘s kicks’ I much prefer starting fresh with a young guy. It’s a chance for the team to correct the Carlson mess.

I wouldn't give ANY qb $30-50+ mil unless that QB had won me a Super Bowl. Did you win a Super Bowl on your rookie deal? Yes? Great! Here's your hugenormous contract. F it let's just run victory laps and love life. No? Good luck. Next!

One thing is if we can't cover kickoffs, we better get someone who can boom it out of the EZ.
