via cuts, trades, free agency and the draft - this is what we need to do in 2019....

re-sign or extend these young players:
tier 1
harris…starting safety
alexander…starting nickel cb
weatherly…starter for griffen
wilson…starter for barr
morgan

tier 2
kearse
sloter

these players leave:
griffen….$10.7m
remmers…$5.5m
rudolph…$7.6m
sendejo…$5.5.m
waynes…$9m
existing cap…$9m

total adjusted cap…$47.8

acquire, sign, trade, extend or draft these players:
fa guard…$10m
fa #3 wr…$3m
richardson…$10m
extending our young players…$15m
2019 draft…$3.5m (guard/te/lb)

total new commitments…$41.5m

new cap space for 2019...$6.3m

I think Griffen will re-structure. We stuck by him when he was at his lowest.

Raiders K Daniel Carlson converts 43-yard field goal, giving team a 17-0 lead. Carlson is 14-of-15 on field goals with club. His 93.3 percentage is on pace for franchise record. Previous mark: 91.2 percent, Sebastian Janikowski in 2012

Quite astounding. Though it remains to be seen whether he can do it under the pressure of a meaningful, high-stakes game.

I see the truth of that statement to be if he can't kick a FG with the pressure of Zimmer breathing on his neck what's he going to do in a playoff game with a 42 yarder for the win (or loss)?

Yes, I suppose so. Zimmer doesn't seem to help. That said, Walsh didn't do any better in Seattle, and Forbath was fine on field goals. For Carlson, maybe all he needed was a tweak, and Priefer didn't have the expertise to figure it out.

Merry Christmas all you F'ers!

Love all you guys even the biggest homers that cant see that Cousins totally sucks (just kiddin but its my mantra this year!)

Since we know that Kirk will choke in the big game against the Bears Sunday afternoon... here's what we got to look forward to next year when he gets the monkey off his back and carries us to a SB win....

Vikings’ 2019 regular season opponents:

Home Games: Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, NFC South opponent

Away Games: Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, Seattle Seahawks

We know that the Vikings’ game against an NFC West opponent will be against the Seahawks, as they’re locked into second place in their division. The only one that’s still a mystery is which NFC South team will come to U.S. Bank Stadium next year, as the Atlanta Falcons (6-9), the Carolina Panthers (6-9), and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-10) are all still in play to finish second in the NFC South going into Week 17.

A number of winnable games there on paper... The away games against Chiefs, Chargers and Seahawks would stick out as the measuring stick of our competitiveness in 2019 at this point... Count 6 teams we play that had winning records in 2018 at this point...

Much easier looking sched at first glance than 2018... Add a couple key pieces to OL and get Kirk comfy and just maybe...

*I would rather the Vikes led the league in INTs than sacks.

*Merry Christmas to all the interesting and cool people here, people much like myself , and then being Viking fans on top of it, doesn't get much better.

*Until he is fired, I blame all special teams problems on Priefer, not Zimmer

*We should still be open to the possibility that Cousins really is a choker that won't get the team over the hump, otherwise we might miss it, and be spending too much energy blaming other positions.

And because of that, if it's true, then Sloter should be given the chance to start in 2021, should Kirk not pan out.

Happy birthday to Eric L.

Must have sucked being a kid and having a birthday right after Christmas...

How many of your kid friends parents let them go to a birthday party, let alone bring a present...

I’d imagine you got a lot of regifted stuff that kids didn’t want that came from Santa.. sweaters, Sox, lame ass toys...

Happy birthday anyway, man..

Without you we have no site.

My younger brother Andy has a birthday today as well. So many years I forgot to wish him happy birthday. I have made it a point over the past dozen years or so to always call him late in the evening of Christmas Day to extend him birthday wishes. In the end, our family members know that we all care.

Happy Christmas Time!

I wonder what belated gift the Vikings will give us Sunday. I don't think they've really had their blow-a-team-out-they-should-lose-to game yet, so they'll probably win like 31-13 to really mess with us.

Bears are virtually locked in at the #3 spot, seems unlikely they will be willing to show their entire hand this weekend, saving a couple cards up their sleeve for the likely wild card rematch. Or is it more important to them to TRY and come into our house and REALLY put their stamp on the division?

Good question. Who are they more afraid of in the elements in Chicago? And do they even think that way?

13. Minnesota Vikings (8-6-1)

Week 16 ranking: 13

Non-QB MVP: DE Danielle Hunter. He went from underrated up-and-comer to elite pass-rusher during his breakout season in 2018. The fourth-year defensive end is earning every penny of the mega-contract extension he signed this offseason and currently ranks No. 2 in sacks (14.5) behind Aaron Donald. Hunter may be young, but he is one of the most important players this franchise boasts, regardless of position. What he does makes the entire defense go, from the front end to the back seven. -- Courtney Cronin

They will play their normal game, with whatever that entails, because if they win and the Rams lose, the Bears get a bye. No way they just roll over because the Rams should beat the 49ers.

Teams sit players the last game of the season to rest them up for the WC round of the playoffs all the time. The odds of SF beating the Rams in LA are long at best considering the Rams have every reason to win at all costs to lock up the second seed, which guarantees them a "rest" week. Plus a win COULD cost the 9ers 8 slots in the draft.

Ticket prices on the secondary market are insane for Sunday’s finale.

I didn’t pay that much for the Minnesota Miracle game.

Wanted to go but obviously too many people want to go.

I imagine there will be more than the usual supply of Bear fans there. Just to watch their team take a beat down.
