Another great month with 8 of those 12 on the road.
I won't bother with the west coast games and the late starts.
I may tune in for the home games and hope....

On the bright side for you fellas, I cancelled my NHL Ice over the weekend so we "should" get hot now...

However, even that reverse mojo mama may not work this year.

I stand by what I said at the beginning; this season is going to go down in flames. The veteran leaders are too old and slow and the youngsters really don't look like budding stars. It's going to be long and ugly and when it is over, we will still be saddled with a bunch of over priced, no move, contracts.

So, take 'my take' with a grain of salt. For the first time since it was available (maybe our 2nd or 3rd year?) I didn't renew my Center Ice so I've only seen 3 games so far this season (this is my 4th). We didn't look bad in the first but nothing has changed minus the names.

As Tim (and others have in the past) just pointed out. Our aging guys stink now and are way overpaid and our "young guns" are running around with pee-shooters. We have no team speed what so ever. It's unreal.

Parise, for the sake of what his legacy has left, needs to retire. He is hot garbage at this point. When he was a hot commodity it was because he was an overachieving scrapper. Now he's just old.

Suter is another one. You use to hear "he's so smooth it looks like he's barely trying". He was so talented he would still make plays. The reality now is that he is barely trying and has no impact on the games anymore.

9 continues to prove that that last name is the most overhyped name in the game. His brother did nothing and he has done nothing.

The whole situation is just sad.

Two goals against within a minute to start the second. God, this team sucks! Time for bed.

Dan Barreiro likes to "joke" that we're old, slow, small, and soft, which is a great combination for a hockey team. Top it off that we're not particularly skilled and it has the makings of a craptastic season. Sad to admit that I was desperate enough to turn them on, I hope it won't happen often, but now down 2-0 I'll be heading for bed soon.

And just like that we are up 3-2 on 3 very "un-Wild-like" goals.

The boys made it worth staying up for
Crawled thru 30 minutes of the most foul-smelling shit ever, to finally play like an NHL team for the final 30

Once Fiala sniped one in the 2nd they started playing better.

Zucc scoring at the end of the power kill was big too.

Ten minute stretch in the second, was the worst ten minutes of Wild hockey, ever.
That's saying something.
Stalock wasn't great , but he kept it 2-0
And made coming back possible
Slowest we have ever moved for long periods of time, early.
Staal and Koivu were literally stuck in mud. Staal came out of it, Koivu never will.
Looks to me like Staal loves his new linemates. Leave it alone, BB.
Zuccarello is a legit NHL player, we need more of him, not less.
Greenway/Ek/Foligno were once again, easily, the best we had.
Physical and changed the mo every time out. Parise getting the ENers doesn't make me happy.
Probably makes his fans happy, but he doesn't deserve to be the guy getting those opps.
Koivu out there in all big situations, we survived it, despite him, not because of him.
Anyone know why no Greenlay during games this year? Loving it, just wondering why.
I really like Carter. He brings the Morneau feel. Great guy who has done it all.

Hartman 3 blocks
Greenway 6 hits Ek and Foligno 3, Donato 2

Hartman, Fiala, Donato only around 10 minutes playing time......BB had a pretty balanced PT for this game but those 3 need more time on the ice. After Fiala scored and had some confidence you give him 10 minutes total? Hartman just does things well....

Agree on most there Phil
But I'm down on Donato.
Really lacks some basic skills.
Hartman can play. Another legit NHLer
We have to remember sometimes … Fiala and Donato have been big disappointments elsewhere.
We see why after they play 20-30 games. It makes sense.
But if you're taking time away from Koivu and Parise to increase their time?
Then …… HELL YES. Sign me up.

Same thing applies to Cousins in Football....you throw 10 times a game expect rust....play guys 10 mins and under and expect them to produce? Hartman seems to be able to do it as a VET but not only do we want to win games but we have to develop these young guys too.

Greenway did get 15 minutes of ice time but if Zucker isn't doing anything and getting 17 minutes? It dumbfounds me what pictures he has of BB. You can't count on Zucker against top lines....he scored most of his goals as a third line forward....move him back.

As soon as Fiala sniped that one in the 2nd you play him more. If you are only going to play Donato 10 mins send him down to Iowa to get minutes.

Greenway puts a body on the opposition.
Liked him last season. Still like him this season.
SMF you are right, Stalock kept us in the game until we got some offensive pressure.

Bolded:

Staal, as I thought he would, continues to have his moments, but don't expect it every game.
BB never leaves it alone. It goes against his DNA.
Greenway/Ek/Foligno continue to play the best while producing no points.
Parise, Mikko and Suter should just do the honorable thing and retire.

Another chance tonight to REALLY change the way things have started
Have we learned some things?
Have we figured out what work?
Or will we simply slip back into suckage.
A 9-out-of-10 run or something similar is the only thing that will make this season even remotely important.
They've now put together about 24 good minutes of hockey in a row.
We need about 3 weeks worth of that. Are you willing, boys?

I wouldn't hold my breath. Last game, they got away with playing 30 minutes of hockey. I am more inclined to think that they will consistently play 30 minutes of hockey each game than anything else.

The only thing I am looking for out of this year is for guys like Kunin, Fiala, Ericksson Ek and Greenway to establish their offensive games.

And the old core of Koivu, Suter, Parise, and Staal finally realize their careers have run their course and it's time to hang it up.
If that happens along with the young guys improving their games it will be a successful season in my book.

Koivu is gone after this year. His contract is up and I don't anyone is beholden to him. He seems like the antithesis of a Bill Guerin player.

Staal is still useful and only has a $3.25M cap hit this year and next year.

Parise and Suter are stealing money and should do the honorable thing and retire.
