And once again, Mr. Fiala ... scored the first goal, set up the other goal, scored in the shootout. The dude is quietly becoming one of our best players.

SUCH a relief to see him start the OT
It was like a light finally came on.
His game is built for that.
And he's getting better at 5 on 5 every night as well.
Its a toss-up between Chorske and me, who will have his baby first.
He was gushing about him all week and esp last night.
You can learn a lot from the interviews of the players and the way they celebrate
Parise has FINALLY accepted him. he treated him like a pariah the first couple weeks they were paired as wings
He now knows his game has reappeared, BECAUSE of Fiala

Fiala has a rare skill set in Wild history. BB seems to have convinced him that it is better to play 5 on 5 instead of 1 on 5 and it's made all the difference.

Fiala, to me, is Granny with an extra couple HP under the hood
Trust me … Nashville HATED to give him up
There's a ton of potential in that body.

Granny has a 4 cylinder under the hood compared to Fiala's turbo charged hemi. Fiala also knows how to finish. Granny's biggest scoring year, I think half his goals were empty netters.

Sounds like the team is coming around;

it is too bad it took Duby's wife getting sick for the team to be forced to make the change.

Hope she gets well soon, and her Hubby stays on the bench.

Good to hear about Fiala and Rask. (Rask was horrible last year)

I agree that Donato should go down if Rask is the guy making progress.

I hear ya Jeff … (about getting sucked back in)
But I think we might be back.
Based solely on the results from the latest 40 city tour we just did.
All those teams who barely beat us or lost to us …. have been WORKING everyone else they play.

What sucks is we've already committed to, even IF we straighten out, it'll be another year of busting our ass to JUST get in, then being too work down to do a damn thing in Round One.

Once again, listening to player reaction … Stalock has always gotten better respect in the locker room than "just a guy backing up an All Star" usually gets.
Tells you that maybe they wouldn't have skipped a beat, no matter when the change was made.
Minnesota management groups have a hard time making the tough decisions sometimes.

Kappo makes a boat load of saves (44) in picking up his second win, 4 - 2.

And he wasn't that far off from making an empty net goal to seal his win to boot.
He has only played 2 games so far, but I like what I see.

Great comeback after being down 2 to 0 after the first period.

Spurgeon out a while with a broken hand....Mikko also might be out a bit. Russo was mentioning how well Rask played with Parise and Fiala the rest of the game.....moving forward with a goaltender and other positions....

Why o why o why oooooooo
Does this state have teams that refuse to give in to BETTER PLAYERS
I swear they stuck with Dubnyk solely because they liked the Dooooooooooooooooooooooob thing.
Jeezus. I mean really. This kid might be not-just-a-guy in the net.

Nice to see Soucy get rewarded.
Will we see Seeler finally?
Or more likely Pateryn I guess.
Sucks that Spurg is down, but keep on rolling fellas.
Next man up.

Yeah it’s crazy

Have had coaches just too loyal to guys that are fading
Or never-was types
Maybe it comes from management or ownership
Or both

Keep that Minnesota nice reputation

I hope BB just slots Rask onto the line with Fiala and Zach. In a limited sample, he seemed to have good chemistry with those two. Now that Rask is engaged, skating hard and playing in the dirty areas, you can see the guy has a definite IQ for the game. He basically plays like a faster version of Mikko anyway.

You could make the case for promoting Erikkson Ek to the second line, but I would prefer that the kid line remain undisturbed. Those three are developing a good chemistry. They can play fast. They can play heavy. They create a lot of zone time and are starting to create more chances out of that zone time. Keep working with them until they start converting more.

To me, the best thing about the GEEK line is BB has them playing the other team's top line. Pinning them in the defensive zone for long stretches and making them too tired to attack after clearing the zone. And, as you said, they are learning how to create scoring chances for themselves.

I think a beautiful thing is starting to happen there and I hope BB has the good sense to leave it alone.

Leave Rask with Parise and Fiala and slot Donato at center on the 4th line....done up front.
Both Seeler and Pateryn will have some rust, but my guess is it will be Pateryn just to have a righty in there.

There is a good coach here
Great, in fact, imo
I hope he gets the time to see his latest tweaks come to fruition
I've never wanted his removal, just felt it was almost inevitable
Its fun to see his hands-on changes starting to pay off
Still feels like he's limited on that when it comes to 2-3 guys, unfortunately.
If they ever did give him full rein, I believe he'd straighten us out in a heartbeat.
This is a guy who HANDLED Perry, Getzlaf, Ovechkin
We have meek little pups compared to those guys. He's been hamstrung here, I pray Guerin turns him loose at some point
The little red-faced elf takes no shit from anyone, when allowed.

Things have a way of working themselves out a bit (in bad ways sometimes). Hunt, Soucy, and Seeler need more ice time and with Spurgeon out it might make us better and prove that Suter and Spurgeon shouldn't play 30 mins/game.

Another big test to see if this latest uptick is a mirage or real.
Lightning aren't tearing up the league this year, we need to get point(s) outta this one, too.
