Good stuff

I'm revitalized by this team currently.

I hope the missus appreciates.

Cue the Frank Thomas creepy wink ………

Can you turn on a switch????

I am thanking Mr. Sweeney, through a humorous pm, for identifying the euphemism the other day with my post in the Vikings thread.

Are you guys PMing behind my back?

No. As hard as it may be for you to accept, you were never mentioned in the PMs between Miles and me.

Huge 3 game homestand
(BETTMANN! musta screwed up)
HAVE to take 5 or 6 points here.
These are the times we really screw up during the year.
We've done it for a decade. Leaving points untaken in December and January due to lack of focus.
Always ends up costing us at the end.

Start out our home stand with 3 shots on goal in half a game.......only down 0-2.

At least they made one count and ended the 2nd only down 1-2. Need a good finish in order to get back on track and get in the win column.

My gosh, what an incredibly bad OT. It was shocking. I'll first give them credit for fighting back (if you want to call it that). #1 was an absolute gift. But hey, they "tied" it. #2 was a nice play by Parise.

Now to the OT. Good lineup by BB and it netted us a PK. Then, it went to shitsville. I like BB and was super excited when he came but:

A. He wants out and is passive aggressive
B. He's an idiot. Given the "PP" group he trotted out there

Not only did we have a 4-3, they lost a stick halfway through it. Didn't matter with that motley crew of ding-dongs. The first half of it was literally a non-stop cluster-F of passing back and forth with not 1 iota of a plan. It was so pathetic you could see the Ducks getting confused as to why nothing was happening. NO SHIT, it looked like the instructions were "hang on to the puck to get us to the shootout". I'm not kidding. The guy without his stick was so confused he ran to the back of the net freaking out only to find…..there was nobody there.

We use Zucker now as a "playmaker down low on the PP"? That is just insanity. He has no puck control/strength (btw - not his game, not his fault) and Dumba and Suter who:

A. Dumba would rip a slapper in to his mom's face if there were a chance the announcer would go "he's got a cannon". I work with a guy that uses the phrase that fits for him "ready, shoot, aim! We are 100% at hitting our foot". It works.
B. Suter looks terrified to even try. Frankly, he looks uninterested at this point.

It was all a hodge-podge of "what are we suppose to do again?"

And the new keeper.

I liked some of what I saw but he is really raw. Too be expected, don't get me wrong.

I've said it 9 million times here so forgive me for the "yeah…we know" moment but I hate busy goalies. Dubnyk is one. He 'kinda' gets away with it because he's big.

This kid is calm and plays angles well. Where he needs work is down low. This is the NHL kid. Every player in this league, and 3 on the Wild, have the hands to get the puck over your shoulders down low when you go butterfly. You don't have the size yet to get that low. They need to work on that. You have to be ultra quick and flexible to be that low and cover the upper corners. Just watch their first shutout goal to see what I mean. That was big kid, little kid who has candy.

Promising future for sure. I'd roll with him for the rest of the year alternating, when needed, with Stalock. Sad circumstances for the situation that's brought us here but we are where we are. I wish the Dubnyk's nothing but peace and health but it's time to turn the page. We aren't that good anyway. Play the kids at this point.

Jeff saved us all some typing
Damn those were ugly parts to the game
BB was embarrassed by the effort afterwards. The players should have been.

The positives
Took a point on a putrid night
Another successful debut for a local kid. Him being on the PP in his first appearance tells you how low we are on talent.
Our grinders are some of the best in the game, they kept us alive. Hartman is a riot, thank god we kept him.
We really miss Spurgeon in situations like that OT PP. He eventually gets tired of watching inept forwards, and takes over.

One last thought.
Dumba sucks worse than I thought he did.
SCREAMING at him during that debacle in OT. Has ZERO sense. Can't find open ice, Can't get pucks thru. Which makes him worthless as an Offensive Defensemen (like they call him)
Then, the cherry on top …. we finally set a guy up to win it in the final seconds …. and its Brodin. He wouldn't have put it in with NO goalie. Spurgeon finishes that game there.

So, can we trade a Dumba and Brodin now? We will be fine on defense without them from what I see of our younger guys. There may be a few bumps in the road, but maybe we can get a scorer out of the deal to help out.

Agreed. Those are two absolutely horrible contracts.

Wild up 4-2. Greenway gets into a fight. The big man shows a little nasty.

I got home and tuned in just in time to see the fight. Like Wes Walz was saying, if he learns how to fight in the NHL he will be a monster with his reach.

And we're tied as the Wild are getting sloppier by the minute.

Yup, quite the finish with giving up two quick goals to get to the tie. And then we get two quick ones ourselves to regain a two goal lead. And of course, giving up a goal with under a minute just to keep things interesting before closing it out for the win. A fun 3rd period to watch that's for sure.

Wild pull it out with a 6 - 5 win. Greenway leads the way with a Gorgie Howe hat trick.

Rollin a little bit now.
I likey.
RACK up the points.
Need EVERY one.
The 3rd and 4th lines are separated us from teams lately.
Say what you will about BB, he always finds some grinders that will play their asses off.
NO ONE wants to play against Foligno and Hartman, no matter who's with them.

Zucker does that every year, right after most of us give up on him.
Donato has come around, playing a 200 foot game now. Dude can shoot, and most of all... DOES shoot.
Btw … life without Mikko looks ok, people.

It turned into a cardiac game for fans. Up by two goals and then blink a couple of times and it's tied. Cripes - we need a few more of those decisive three-goal-lead games for the final minutes. We are definitely not a team that does well in overtimes.
