After #Vikings S Jayron Kearse tweeted today "Excited for my future,'' fan tweeted to him "Do the Vikings have a place in your future?'' His response: "No'' I asked Kearse Friday if could start Sunday w/ Anthony Harris out & got "No comment'' Andrew Sendejo could start if healthy.

That 4th down conversion late in the 3rd well on our side of the field is the play of the year for me.

Could have saved myself a ton of stress simply checking the final score at work instead of dying for hours watching the taped game. I was pretty down for most of it..thinking the usual; why, why you gotta do me like this?!

Only team in the last 100 to come back down 20+ at the half. I think they finally showed they have a different makeup.

We gotta stop getting gouged for big chunks. Stop that and everything is in front of us.

Some who left fall into what David called the party line camp, but several more just find the negaphants to be the problem. It's one think to not like Kirk or Zimmer, but endless bleating just adds to the problems many of us experience when the team is underperforming.

And then there is the group who control so little in their lives, yet live and die on a play of a team that has been a perenial disapointment... Investing a portion of their psyche and sanity into said team to the point of being personally disturbed by the fellow posters on a board...

Its a game, its entertainment, its ups and downs and maybe playoffs if all goes right... its fun to speculate on what may make a team better or pile on when something seems to be holding the team back...

At the end of the day, I hug my children, kiss my wife and then come here and check out what the rest of you wrote, because its fun to be part of a community, but I never take anything personally and I dont let this team change how I will go through my life tomorrow...

You are calling the kettle black....look at all the posts to fire Zimmer and Spielman and bench Kirk after a bad half. Perennial disappointment? The Browns would be a perennial disappointment. Who posted the most in the first half and was living and dying the first half? You really need to look in the mirror.

I was relaxed most of the 1st half as I drove back from deer hunting and went and washed my truck....then I went home and watched the rest of the game.

Opponents converting 3rd downs at a 37% clip. At their peek a couple years back, Vikes held opponents to 25% 3rd down conversions. I guess they'll go back to drafting defense in the early rounds.

Defense has really been regressing the last few games.

Zim has 2 weeks to fix it.

If he's not going to bench Rhodes, at least don't have him shadow the other team's top receiver for a half. Sutton just made Rhodes his bitch.

Remarkably, the Vikings are now closer to elite on the offensive side of the ball than on defense. They've got studs at every skill position. Add 2 interior offensive linemen and they are a top unit in the NFL. If RS is still with the Vikings next year, he needs to realize that fact and act accordingly i.e. do whatever it takes to get those 2 guards in FA or through the draft. On the defensive side of the ball they can save money by losing Rhodes, Waynes and Griffin. The D needs a serious personnel shakeup next year.

From DailyNorseman POST OF THE YEAR!!:

Kirk F'n Cousins
Terrible line blocking.

No running game.

Questionable play calling.

20 point deficit.

Comeback for the ages.

All you Cousins haters, all you "Beeker" jackholes, do the right thing. Come on here and admit you’re morons. REALLY??

there, feel better?

I think they keep Griffin but lose/cut/trade Waynes, Rhodes, and Joseph.

The biggest problem with the DBs is that neither is a shutdown corner any more.....so we have to move on from them, cut their salary, and/or play more zone.

Is that the coaches fault when DBs fall from grace so hard and quick?

A quick demise isn't the coaches fault, but they need to play the best players. Rhodes is not one of their best CBs, yet he remains a starter. Also not sure they'll move on during the off season, though they should.

Kirk Cousins has thrown 177 passes without an interception, the longest active streak in the NFL, and the longest by a Viking in 24 years.

And the most recent one he did throw wasn't his fault, the ball went through Diggs hands bounced off his helmet and the DB picked it off tip drill style.

Defense is kaput. We can't rely on it. We need to score points. No more philosophy where we got the lead, let's get conservative and let the defense take us home. Score. Score. Score.

I think the last two games are the type of games Bill Barnwell says teams will get one year and then not get the next year. If Dallas would not have run twice in their final series last week, they had us. If the Broncos QB was a smidge more experienced, I think they would have had us today, too, on that final series. But they didn't, so we take the Ws and run.

And the Vikes deserve credit for giving themselves a chance to get those Ws. We scored enough to get the lead in both games. We put ourselves in positions where things could go our way.

Onto Seattle. That will be a good test. Too bad we have a bye week. I'd rather we tried to keep rolling.

Historically IIRC the Vikings record is much better after the bye than their norm. I love having the Bye before Seattle.

The Eagles lost. They are pretty much eliminated since we have the tie breaker with them and we are up two games with five to play.

Checking this website, it says we have a 91% chance of making the playoffs now. I think that's about right. We also have an 8% chance of winning the Super Bowl. Based on today's disappointing play I would say that it a bit high, but indeed the important thing is making the playoffs where the season beings again.

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2019-nfl-predictions/

edit: Also notice that only four teams have a better chance of winning the Super Bowl than the Vikings. Interesting.

I think we are one of the best teams. If we beat the Packers this time around and tie up the Division who has the tie breaker. I think the Pack does. Have they lost in the division yet? IF we are going to win the Super Bowl I think we need to be a division champ. If we do win the division I like our chances.

It’s my understanding that both the team and griffen have the option of cancelling the existing deal

I'm still in touch with some stalwarts who have left this site because it devolves into a suicide hotline dominated by negativity and nervous nellies. I stay because I have a sense of community/history with this place and some of the people here, but it's very hard. We all fan in our own ways, but some voices just saturate the the site with complaints and wails and bleats and know-it-all-ism. I'm not talking about being a pollyanna; prohibitions on expressing negatives are just as bad. But there are a handful of posters that embody exactly the sentiment that Pager posted from another site: they'd rather be right about their complaints than win.

We've lost a lot of good posters to this shit, and my guess is we'll lose more. I may soon be one of them.

I can't tolerate the negativity when we lose a game. I have to stay away until the next week. Shit happens. Good teams play poorly some of the time. We have a good team. Get this into your heads people. We are 8-3 and the only game we were out of was the Bears loss.
Even when we are losing a game this board becomes intolerable with all the how bad we suck. Our team is a POS. We will never win a game again posts. We are fortunate to have one of the better teams in the NFL with get this one of the best QBs in the NFL. Stop the sky is falling shit every time something goes wrong.

Is it negative posters ‘driving people away’ or is it that some posters have a compulsive need to control the narrative and can’t tolerate personalities that refuse to conform? Some of both. Plenty of both.

DF it's the level of negativity. Reading this board yesterday, which fortunately I waited until after the game to do, we have one of the worst teams in the NFL. Truth is we have one of the best teams in the NFL.

Kirk has been great since October. Even with the fumble lost today he was spectacular. I am just not sure he is our future, he is a three year rental and we could have taken Lamar Jackson at 30 versus Mike Hughes. Pyramid building quarterbacks. Still mad about Ponder and then not addressing in 2012 when they knew they had nothing in him. Loved Teddy pick although once he had the injury it was tough. Had to go with Cousins, but I don't agree with no competition even with guaranteed contract.

I'm a fan of the Denny Green/Bill B approach to QB drafting. I was upset with Hughes over Oline. Jackson wasn't on my radar, to be totally honest.

I'll be at the next game - IN SEATTLE!

Watch out for my cousin Jamie, she does not like opposing fans in her stadium! I am still pining Russell Wilson in 2012. Never get over Fraiser raving about him in senior bowl and Vikings never considering him, even when he fell to 3rd. I was all over Lamar Jackson even in draftday thread I stated I wish we had the balls to draft him. His style is the new style in the NFL. We need to get early lead in Seattle. See how Packers are coming off bye to play SF. Wish they could both lose sorry about Cardinals one 4th and one away from victory end up losing by 10.

That Cardinals game was gifted to the 49ers by the refs. First they give a terrible spot to gift the 49ers a 1st down late, then when the review showed it was OBVIOUSLY short they went with inconclusive.

He's got 250 yards on the season. Lately he's playing very well as a red zone threat. I think the last 3 games are what we expect from him given his contract. The first 8 were very sub par for him.
