Kyle Rudolph set a personal YAC record when he rumbled for an additional 20 yards on his 32 yard TD reception.

Is that actually true? Seems iffy.

Why does that seem iffy? He's never been known for YAC. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it's true.

I hate to say it but Rudolph actually looked okay speed wise this week and last. (by no means Irv Smith fast of course but better than his usual lumber)

Offense is currently 9th in YPG, while our defense is a disappointing 15th in YPG. Definitely the worst ranking of the Zimmer era.

Defense has been on the field for 699 plays which is by FAR the most of any team in the league. Our inability to get off the field on 3rd down is a major contributor to that.

And our offense has scored the 3rd most points in the league trailing only the Ravens and 49ers.

3rd most points scored even with middle of the pack D will take us a long way. I honestly believe our D is still talented and will gel just in time for the playoffs. We are going to win it all.

My $0.02:

This had "trap game" all over it. MN heading into the bye, DEN coming off the bye. MN feeling good and basking in the glow of the win over DAL. DEN licking their chops to come in for the upset....

So many lapses (muffed kicks, penalty on Digg's first long catch, offsides on the FG, missed block leading to sack/fumble, etc...)

Their WR made some incredibly tough catches. I am not ready to toss out our pass defense quite yet.

Sendejo's INT may have been the difference.

WTF was that BS call on the FG attempt from DEN? I was coming unhinged. Luckily they got it right, but WTF was that?!

I thought the DEN OL got away with a ton of holding.

4 consecutive TD drives against a top-10 defense in that situation was excellent. Great half-time adjustments.

It was clear that DEN's objective was to not let Cook beat them. Glad we made the adjustment.

Bye coming at a good time. Get guys healed up.

Weren't we 2nd or 3rd a couple of games ago? We need to figure some stuff out on the bye and get the D back to solid. If we can do that this team could definitely make some noise. Beating Seattle would be amazing!

Is it negative posters ‘driving people away’ or is it that some posters have a compulsive need to control the narrative and can’t tolerate personalities that refuse to conform? Some of both. Plenty of both.

I've always thought the personalities that refuse to conform should just stick to the KFAN threads.

It was not only the only time a team overcame a 20 point halftime deficit to win in the last 100 opportunities, it was the only time in the past 40 years a team overcame a 20+ point halftime deficit by scoring on every second-half possession.

Cousins isn’t supposed to do that, according to his career narrative. But he was nearly flawless (153.5 passer rating) in leading the Vikings to 27 second-half points - including 20 in the fourth quarter. And against the 4th ranked defense. He had been 0-10-1 when trailing in the fourth quarter as a Viking.

I heard or read that it was the only time in NFL history a team has scored a TD on every 2nd half possession. Seems iffy, but a key to that was we didn't get the ball in kneel down time. Take away kneel down time and I bet many teams have scored a TD on every 2nd half drive.

Other thoughts:

The CHI LAR game was awful. Goff looks marginally better than Trubisky.

BAL looks tough.

NE defense is legit.

Hoping the SF defense spanks Erin and the Puke.

Opponents converting 3rd downs at a 37% clip. At their peek a couple years back, Vikes held opponents to 25% 3rd down conversions. I guess they'll go back to drafting defense in the early rounds.

If opponents are only converting at 37% we are doing well. This game it was the 4th down conversions that almost did us in.

It's the 3rd and longs. At this point I'd prefer it be 3rd and 3 for the opposing offense vs 3rd and 10.

Last year that would have been a marquis match up. Amazing how fast things change.

DF it's the level of negativity. Reading this board yesterday, which fortunately I waited until after the game to do, we have one of the worst teams in the NFL. Truth is we have one of the best teams in the NFL.

What used to set these threads apart was the balanced and non reactive nature of the MAJORITY of the posters. I believe that is still the case, unfortunately I think many have become mostly lurkers with just the occasional post, mostly because of the influx of the KFAN rube types. Which has tilted the balance for the schizophrenics even further. Of course they'll never admit to what they are, but people know.

Defense has really been regressing the last few games.

Zim has 2 weeks to fix it.

Bench Rhodes
Play Kearse more

If he's not going to bench Rhodes, at least don't have him shadow the other team's top receiver for a half. Sutton just made Rhodes his bitch.

Early in the game the announcers even said Denver's game plan going in was to attack Rhodes.

He's been around a long time. One of those receptions maybe the defender falls down and he gets more than 20. It may be true and if it is that is one huge fluke.

Rudy keeps finding the end zone of late.

Do we all still hate Rudy and believe we screwed the pooch extending him?

He's got 250 yards on the season. Lately he's playing very well as a red zone threat. I think the last 3 games are what we expect from him given his contract. The first 8 were very sub par for him.

We just weren't going to him and I don't think it was his fault. All the commentators say he has been blocking great, but that doesn't fit this boards belief that he is a terrible blocker. Almost every time we do go to him something good happens. Then this board complains about how it would have been better if we had gone to smith.
Talk about being treated like a red headed stepchild.

He has been blocking much better this year. Definitely! I'm glad we're using him more near the red zone too. I know yesterday the play was from outside the 20 but we've been looking for him when we get down there more often. he's a very good red zone threat!

I really thought we were stuck with Bad Cousins yesterday especially after he threw the 1 yard pass on the free play. How he turned it around like that in the 2nd half was amazing! Especially against what is a very tough defense! Cousins is winning close games under adversity lately! Last 2 weeks he's beat a winning team on the road in a close game and brought us back from down 20 in a half against a top 10 D. I imagine he's gaining some confidence through all of this. The Diggs TD was amazing! Reminded me of Jeff George in his prime with the arm strength and trajectory to get it there quickly. He has all the physical tools for sure.
