ORIGINAL: CPAMAN Seattle is an easy pick in this one. Seattle 30, Vikings 20 Seattle is a tough place to play. I'd like our chances more with Theilen out there. I'm gonna say Seattle 27 Vikings 20. I think we will fight hard but expecting a win here is probably not a good bet. Lose and I agree the 6th seed will be the only landing spot. I decided to be optimistic and pick the Vikings this game, even though pretty much all of the facts point to a loss. It seems like every year we have a game we should clearly lose that we end up winning, so maybe this will be that game. So basically, I'm just banking on the any-given-Sunday principle. If we win, I figure we have to get in the neighborhood of 28 points. Our defense is kaput. We also can't get in a habit of being happy with field goals. We need to be aggressive in the red zone and maybe even burn a fourth down or two to try for a TD rather than a FG. Wilson can erase two FGs with one deep throw. I like this post! I'd love to see us go for TDs if it's close instead of kicking fgs. If our defense can return to form the sky is the limit! Let's hope they figured stuff out on the bye. Zimmer's previous love affair with field goals is one of the first things that turned me off on him. It seemed like when we got into the redzone, our mentality was, okay, we got three points in our pocket. Let's not screw that up. I remember checking in on the radio with the 2015 playoff game against Seattle because I wasn't at home and thinking...man, all these FGs are going to bite us. Why don't we go for it on fourth down and try for a TD? We have this awesome defense. Seattle is not doing squat. Make them try to go 95 yards if we blow it, but nope... Sure enough, Wilson then gets a TD and poof...all those lovely FGs didn't mean much. Yeah, the Blair Walsh miss sucked, but I would have liked to see more aggression to ice the game earlier. But, whatever...hindsight. Point being, offense needs to win the game tonight. We can't play conservative and think the defense is going to come through for us. If we lose, as least go down swinging on offense. Take some shots. If it fails, we are playing with house money anyway. The odds are against us.
