Any interest on RFA Taysom Hill of the Saints for our low first round pick, dynamic player with moves, can he transition into a full time QB role or just a gimmick player ?

Honestly the Vikings are not creative or forward thinking enough to even consider adding Hill in any capacity... We had our Hill type player in Sloter and could have plugged him into looks and plays in much same way as a dynamic part time playmaker but this regime has no visions for that type of skill sets or crafting of schemes in gameplans to use such weapons...

Rather sit back with a statue QB who comes apart under pressure behind a porous shit show at times of OL and hope...

I'd have to pass on on a 30 year-old "QB" that has attempted 13 passes in the NFL and was never much of a QB prospect.

Super cool gadget player if you have an innovative coaching staff, but not a starting QB.

Freaking oldest coaching staff of fossils in the NFL, we going to set the clock back 40 plus years... A big part of coaching is relating to todays players and knowing how to get most out of these young guys...

Our coaches dont do that and rarely seem eager to give the younger tallent a shot over long in tooth vested overpaid broken down veterans... Well with no cap space we will have great inside knowlege of 40 plus year old vets on the trash heap to sign as free agents...

So we go from the Triangle of Authority to Gen-Mix.

"Senior Defensive Assistant".

Never more true.

Wilf: Zim, you need to give up defensive coordinator duties.

Zim: OK, Andre Patterson will take over since he's been around over 20 years.

Wilf: Good.

Zim: Oh, and my son will be co-coordinator with Andre. Did you see what I did there?

We have no innovative young coaching talent. Our so-called 'young guys' in key coaching positions are essentially clones of their fossil fathers or have traveled NFL circles for 23 years.

I thought Zimmer said it's a young mans game?! Guess just for players and those damn analytics guys (and someone named Patterson, who happens to look just like Andre Patterson (!) is co-analytics guy for the offense).

And we thought Denny and Richard Solomon were incestuous!

Shows just how much Rodgers is in Zimmers head... Anything to win a couple of games against Green Bay a year... Weak minded desperation play to save his job, get some inside info on Aaron form former coach who faced his every day in practice...

Zimmer is as clueless as his antiquated cronies he has put togther to man the Viking longboat this year... This voyage is looking like a funeral pire unfortunately...

BTW Capers is huge proponent of the 3-4 defense, so WTF gives here? What does bringing in a coach who preaches a completely different scheme do for your team as a Senior Assistant? Makes perfect sense I guess to Zimmer...

In order for that to work you need a QB that is essentially John Elway

Could Dom get Zim to rush Barr and Hunter at the same time?

Sure, if you have an old guy that not only changes with the league, but is usually at the forefront of said changes.

Nothing about our "Golden Guys" cast of coaching seems to fit in that box.

100% true and also let's not discount the success that these younger guys have had in their short careers so far. They've had success beyond anything we've done even if they haven't won the Super Bowl yet.

I wouldn't give ANY qb $30-50+ mil unless that QB had won me a Super Bowl. Did you win a Super Bowl on your rookie deal? Yes? Great! Here's your hugenormous contract. F it let's just run victory laps and love life. No? Good luck. Next!

Don’t have a strong feeling about Capers but he did have a lot of coaching success ... before eventually having to coach a defense that was GM’d into oblivion by Ted Thompson.

After a down year by the defense and - IMO a general feeling of flatness by the def. coordinating - I welcome any coaching realignment. Sure, a fiery, aggressive young talent with full control would have been my first choice ... but hopefully Capers will add some Kubiak-like ‘inflection’ and well-rounded input to the def. scheming and adjustments.

It’s going to come down to who we suit up mostly, anyway but yeah, I’ll take a another voice in Zimmer’s ear, hopefully respected enough by Zimmer to be embraced somewhat. Dinasaur Kubiak helped to immediately improve the Off performance (maybe more attributable to Stefanski /Dennison, who knows?).
