If one of our safeties goes down it may not be pretty. Other than QB, there may be no bigger drop off if a starter goes down.

Hunter missing practices is a concern, too. There are a lot of players vying to back him up, but the drop off is considerable. Same can be said for Thielen. We have no Diggs to pick up the slack.

We lost a lot of depth this off season

Jefferson is going to be fine, and he'll be a lot less of a headache moving forward. IMO, Diggs was a cancer.

My Aug. 19 position by position meter for the #Vikings at this point ...

QB: Confident
RB: very confident
WR: Optimistic
TE: very confident
OL: Concerned

EDGE: Cautiously optimistic
D-LINE: concerned
LB: Confident
CB: Cautiously optimistic
S: Confident

Have at it.

(Tanishka Mascara on Twitter)

My comment:. We should continue to worry about the trenches.

One thing we can always count on - going into the season concerned about our oline.

#Vikings LB Anthony Barr said he doesn’t think any one person can replace Everson Griffen’s energy. It will be a “collective effort” and the defense will have to “let their play do the taking.”

(Sean Borman on Twitter)

When asked about Dom Capers influence thus far Anthony Barr said he's actually worked the most with the secondary as opposed to the front seven as many assumed would be his focus

(Luke Inman on Twitter)

#Vikings LB Anthony Barr on Eric Wilson: "I think he's going to have an even larger role this season.''

Curious why they didn't focus on the other stopwatch at all.

Actually I disagree....adding 2-3 young corners gives us more depth (Rhodes and Waynes aren't what they used to be).

Griffen is end of the line too---be more like NE. Sign the Griffen's for 1 million as an after thought not as a base player. Look how much Dallas spent on a couple of older guys (McCoy and Griffen) and McCoy at DT is out for the year now and cut as and injury designation; 7 million guaranteed.

Even look at Waynes---played 5-6 years already and hasn't been real healthy the last two and Cincy spent a lot of money on him....you have to keep bringing in young guys.

Here's a nice clip. It shows Hollins catching a long pass over Chris Boyd by going up to get the ball and then continuing to run down the sideline. Great for Hollins. Bad for Boyd.

Practice over. No pads for Vikings today. Armon Watts was back, Danielle Hunter still out. No Riley Reiff, Dillon Mitchell or Britton Colquitt. Dakota Dozier getting most of the LG reps today. Sounds like Vikings are close to making decision w/ starting OL.

Fairly slow #Vikings practice today – no pads after three straight days with them on. Lots of special teams work.
Highlight of the day was a Justin Jefferson leaping touchdown catch over Mike Hughes. Alex Hollins also had a couple nice catches.

On @KFAN1003, Mike Zimmer said the Vikings will go down to U.S. Bank Stadium a week from tomorrow to practice on the field. With no preseason, and new faces on the roster, the Vikings will use it as a chance to get players some exposure to the stadium.

Looks like Boyd has got a little X-Man in him. Looked like he was pulling up lame after getting smoked on that pass rep.

Seemed more like immediately working to quickly get out of camera/visual range. Perfecting the art of 'that wasn't me who got burned'.

Despite that nice clip RotoWorld is reporting that Jefferson has not been impressive and is firmly behind Bisi for the #2 receiver spot.
It's early, but I take this report as bad news.

Rookies have a much more difficult row to hoe this year, that goes double for WRs.
