can anyone answer this question?...when we make or final 53 cuts do we get to instantly protect four ps players, or do they all have to go through the waiver wire?....

i guess boyd is up against hand for the 5th spot - i think we keep 6 cb's - boyd he's a very good special teams player and he's familiar with zimmer's
system....

if cleveland is on this list because he didn't play great as a guard as opposed to tackle then i'm cool with him....

from things i've heard; elflien has been playing very well at right guard...i've noticed that josh kline is still available - wonder what's up with that?

Zimmer decided to settle for a 35-yard FG on 4th and half a yard.

I think it's pretty damn cool. Even if Bisi is #3 it's still 2 of the top 3 filled by 7th round and UDFA stock. To me it takes the bite out of missing on the Treadwell's and Williamson's. It's not an exact science. You just go with your gut based on the work you did and hope you're right. Fans get to bemoan and tally the misses but let's give credit where it's due. Maybe wait until Jefferson proves we got a 1st rounder right finally as well.

We'll see what this year brings but I'm dreaming of a quieting of some more bemoaning when they move up and land a premier G next year.

Once in the next 3 years we're going to be elite and we'll bust the door wide open taking our 1st championship. You know in your hearts it's going to happen.

I would also add Sean Mannion as a loser, although I really can't qualify that as "Camp" specific.

Mannion, Browning...I just don't get why we're so unwilling to have competent back-up QBs?

Or at least guys with some potential.

Kaepernick is just sitting there.....

Some notable personnel observations:

-Jeff Gladney got some work in the first-team nickel.
-KJ Osborn returned just about all kickoffs and punts.
-Defensive line on third downs consisted of Odenigbo, Watts, Mata'afa and Yarbrough.

#Vikings just scrimmaged for two quarters. Pretty entertaining, if not always pretty.
Kirk Cousins finished 11 of 20 for 122 yds. Led two field goal drives, took three "sacks."

* Kirk Cousins: 11 for 20, 122 yards
* Dalvin Cook: 3 carries, 18 yards
* Adam Thielen: 3 catches, 67 yards
* Justin Jefferson: 4 catches, 22 yards
* Tajae Sharpe, Mike Boone, and Dillon Mitchell had TD catches

Cousins took three "sacks" (Johnson, Odenigbo, Wilson)
Browning was probably the sharpest of the backup QBs (7 for 8, 67 yards, TD)
Alexander Hollins caught a 35-yard pass from Mannion and later drew a DPI down near the goal line

Looked more like bad offense than good defense today

Kenny Willekes left the practice on crutches, seems to be the only injury from the simulated half

11 yards per completion only 6 yards per attempt. Not very good.

i wonder if teams have to pay the protected players on the practice squad league minimum, as opposed to the practice squad salary....

Great question that I've been thinking about. One player in particular who is speculated to go to the practice squad is Ameer Abdullah who is coincidentally outspoken about the racial issues of the day. I was thinking that he might believe that he was demoted to the practice squad because of his activism. And then there is your question of pay compensation. Will he make practice squad money even though he is a veteran entering his sixth year? That would really be a slap in the face and if so it might be better to put a young player like Tony Brooks-James there just because he will appreciate the opportunity to keep his football life going. Another player who has been around for awhile who is speculated to go to the practice squad is Chad Beebe. In addition to that, there may be cut veterans throughout the league who are available and attractive to be part of the Vikings practice squad. If there is a significant outbreak of Covid on a team, wouldn't it be preferable to have veterans to turn to rather than developmental players? I would think so.

I briefly tried to find the answer to your question, but I couldn't find it, but maybe someone else here knows.

After today’s strong showing by Browning at US Bank stadium Nate Stanley sees his chances to remain with the Vikings all but disappear

Wow!! I was psyched when we got Browning, but he hasn't shown anything since we got him. If he has his arm strength back and is looking good in camp he could be a legit backup.

Unfortunately I haven't seen any reports indicating that either of those have occurred.

Stop being a stick in the Rich Sosa mud. Browning is now a stone cold lock to reach the zenith of backup QBing (and probably human evolution).

Considering that the zenith is an imaginary point, I'm in full agreement

regarding abdullah; i was thinking that the fo might feel uncomfortable cutting him because he's shown strong leadership with the players, but i think that he'd do better if we let him go...another team would surely pick him up...he's showed good skills whenever he's played for us....

I'm not a fan of Vaughan on Twitter. I unfollowed him because he annoyed me whenever he didn't talk about football, which was frequent. (If you're guessing that in an election year he talked politics, that's true, but it was more than that.) Nevertheless, I tip my hat to him for this piece.

I would also add Sean Mannion as a loser, although I really can't qualify that as "Camp" specific.

Mannion, Browning...I just don't get why we're so unwilling to have competent back-up QBs?

Or at least guys with some potential.

Kaepernick is just sitting there.....

I will become a Packers fan if that happens.

I hope so. I really don't want to root for the Green and Gold. My feelings against Kaepernick are so strong that I was thinking that even if he is a Viking for a minute I will never root for the Vikings again. But really, there must be another team to root for better than the Packers. My daughter lives in Michigan. Maybe I could root for the Lions.
