The Vikings and DE Yannick Ngakoue worked overnight on an adjustment to his franchise tender, landing at a little under $13 million. That's down from $17.778 million. And Minnesota made clear its intention to do a long-term deal in '21.

So ... Ngakoue REALLY wanted out of Jax.

(Albert Breer on Twitter)

All we got out of the trade is a one year rental as far as I can tell. There is no option to sign an extension until next year and then we are competing with the rest of the NFL if I understand correctly. Somebody who understands all this better than me help me out/

We are loaded with draft picks next year.

Even if one year rental, we are trying to win right now which is what most fans want.

He is playing for a discount this season in order to facilitate the trade. (but a second and fifth would be a steep price to pay for that)

I would also add Sean Mannion as a loser, although I really can't qualify that as "Camp" specific.

I will become a Packers fan if that happens.

You're likely to remain safely purple.

I hope so. I really don't want to root for the Green and Gold. My feelings against Kaepernick are so strong that I was thinking that even if he is a Viking for a minute I will never root for the Vikings again. But really, there must be another team to root for better than the Packers. My daughter lives in Michigan. Maybe I could root for the Lions.

Too bad your near death experience wasnt able to make you s better person.

Todd you have a right to like Kaep as you see him as a wonderful person standing for recial equality. Bruce has a right to dislike him because he disrespects our Nation our Flag and our Anthem. It doesn't make either of you bad people. This is by far not a thing to pass judgment on the quality of a person over.

Big unexpected move. Quite exciting.

This is a great move. Ngakoue on turf will be Derrick Thomas like.

DLine went from question mark to strength.

Not until we get an adequate nose tackle.

The thing is, you can actually do both of those things if you try hard enough. It doesn't have to be one or the other. Liking Kaepernick because he stood up for racial injustice doesn't make someone any less of a patriot. In fact, some of us thinks it makes you more of one.

Both Colin Kaepernick and Pat Tillman gave up their high-profile career and income to stand up for something they believed in. One of those two guys in revered by the right. Both are revered by the left.

It would be so nice if we could trade Reiff and restructure Harrison right now....

Courtney Cronin@CourtneyRCronin
Vikings were busy Saturday shoring up their defensive line. Per @AdamSchefter
, the Jaguars are trading DE Yannick Ngakoue to Minnesota for a 2nd and conditional 5th round pick (which could be as high as a 3rd). Ngakoue was franchised by JAX and still has to sign his tender.

Courtney Cronin@CourtneyRCronin
Ngakoue's franchise tender is $17.8 million but I'd expect that number to drop somewhere in the 12-13 range with a restructure on the one-year deal for the DE. Minnesota will then have the ability to offer Ngakoue a long-term deal in 2021 since he didn't sign his tender by July15.

Courtney Cronin@CourtneyRCronin
The Vikings still need to create cap room. I'm hearing LT Riley Reiff could be a prime candidate for a restructure (has a $13.2 million cap hit), but cutting him would be a risky move since 2nd rounder Ezra Cleveland has been at LG throughout camp.

Tom Pelissero@TomPelissero
Recapping the trade:

#Jaguars get:

2nd-round pick in 2021
Conditional 5th-round pick in 2022

#Vikings get:

DE Yannick Ngakoue

Ngakoue will rework his 1-year, $17.788 million franchise tender to complete the deal.

It seems like a horrible trade to me. Ngakoue is a good player, but he's a one year rental. There is no guarantee whatsoever that we can sign him to an extension and we lose a 2nd round pick for sure and possibly a 3rd as well? If he was signed to a decent deal great. He's not.

The 5th rounder becomes a 3rd if the Vikings win the Super Bowl. If that happens It will go down as one of the best trades the Vikings ever made.

Is that the 3rd round condition. Funny thing is Ngakoue could play like crap and Wonnum or Lynch explodes and we win the SuperBowl. It would still cost us the pick.

One year rental is not worth that price. That's an Eric Kendricks or an Ezra Cleveland. Hopefully Cleveland proves to be a good use of the pick.

Recent Vikings 2nd round picks.
Dalvin Cook
Eric Kendricks
Ezra Cleveland
MacKenzie Alexander
Brian O'Neill

Which of those on rookie contracts would we give up for one year of paying a large contract to Ngakoue. I think we got taken behind the woodshed.

Well maybe if you could get the millions of ignorant racists in check disprepecting actual people we could worry about the symbols that arbitrarily represent your country.

Did someone hack your account?

Not like you.

I guess I have a hard time understanding the hatred. A hatred so deep you'd give up something you love as much as Bruce loves the Vikings. And were talking someone making a stance, not a woman/child/animal abuser. Not a thug or criminal.

Bruce is making a stance. He won't support anyone disrespecting our Nation, Flag and Anthem. It's more extreme than I would be, but I respect him taking his stance.

What is disrespectful about taking a knee during an anthem to bring visibility to 200+ years of racial injustice? It's a lot more in line with American values than seeking the help of Russia to win an election. But that's just me. Perhaps my values are all screwed up.

This all happened fast on the Ngakoue front. Had been asked in my feed in early to mid August and prior if he was in the #Vikings mix. Was told no and indicated as such. New representation helped change the landscape. Savvy move by Purple. Wonder what’s next up their sleeve!

Ngakoue doesn’t take that pay cut to be here unless an extension is happening y’all. Just wait

I'd give up 5 consecutive 1st rounders for one SB win.

I’d cut off a finger.

I wouldn't give ANY qb $30-50+ mil unless that QB had won me a Super Bowl. Did you win a Super Bowl on your rookie deal? Yes? Great! Here's your hugenormous contract. F it let's just run victory laps and love life. No? Good luck. Next!

I'm still concerned about the inside dline, but Yannick will give us some scheme diversity that could help.
