Camp Losers

I would also add Sean Mannion as a loser, although I really can't qualify that as "Camp" specific.

Mannion, Browning...I just don't get why we're so unwilling to have competent back-up QBs?

Or at least guys with some potential.

Kaepernick is just sitting there.....

I will become a Packers fan if that happens.

You're likely to remain safely purple.

I hope so. I really don't want to root for the Green and Gold. My feelings against Kaepernick are so strong that I was thinking that even if he is a Viking for a minute I will never root for the Vikings again. But really, there must be another team to root for better than the Packers. My daughter lives in Michigan. Maybe I could root for the Lions.

Why would you pick Green Bay? 30 better choices out there if you ask me.

My second choice has always been KC. Drivable stadium, incredible tailgate and game day experience, non-congested concourses and reasonable concessions.

It would be so nice if we could trade Reiff and restructure Harrison right now....

Courtney Cronin@CourtneyRCronin
Vikings were busy Saturday shoring up their defensive line. Per @AdamSchefter
, the Jaguars are trading DE Yannick Ngakoue to Minnesota for a 2nd and conditional 5th round pick (which could be as high as a 3rd). Ngakoue was franchised by JAX and still has to sign his tender.

Courtney Cronin@CourtneyRCronin
Ngakoue's franchise tender is $17.8 million but I'd expect that number to drop somewhere in the 12-13 range with a restructure on the one-year deal for the DE. Minnesota will then have the ability to offer Ngakoue a long-term deal in 2021 since he didn't sign his tender by July15.

Courtney Cronin@CourtneyRCronin
The Vikings still need to create cap room. I'm hearing LT Riley Reiff could be a prime candidate for a restructure (has a $13.2 million cap hit), but cutting him would be a risky move since 2nd rounder Ezra Cleveland has been at LG throughout camp.

Tom Pelissero@TomPelissero
Recapping the trade:

#Jaguars get:

2nd-round pick in 2021
Conditional 5th-round pick in 2022

#Vikings get:

DE Yannick Ngakoue

Ngakoue will rework his 1-year, $17.788 million franchise tender to complete the deal.

Here is a video of the newest Viking player. Imagine if Hunter gets healthy again. That has to be a bigger question now.

However, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports that Hunter will be back on the field “soon.”

Pressures, since 2018:

Everson Griffen = 54
Yannick Ngakoue = 78

Per game:

Everson Griffen = 2.07
Yannick Ngakoue = 2.51

The Vikings and DE Yannick Ngakoue worked overnight on an adjustment to his franchise tender, landing at a little under $13 million. That's down from $17.778 million. And Minnesota made clear its intention to do a long-term deal in '21.

So ... Ngakoue REALLY wanted out of Jax.

Ngakoue is very close to Rashod Hill who was a fellow rookie in Jacksonville together. Hill was from Jacksonville and he showed him around. I don't know if that had something with the decision to come to Minnesota.

The Vikings now have an elite duo on all three levels of their defense:
Black small squarePass rusher: Danielle Hunter and Yannick Ngakoue
Black small squareLinebacker: Eric Kendricks and Anthony Barr
Black small squareSafety: Harrison Smith and Anthony Harris

A defense loaded with playmakers.

It seems like a horrible trade to me. Ngakoue is a good player, but he's a one year rental. There is no guarantee whatsoever that we can sign him to an extension and we lose a 2nd round pick for sure and possibly a 3rd as well? If he was signed to a decent deal great. He's not.

I called #Vikings newly trade for DE Yannick Ngakoue this morning to get his hindsight on the trade. He hung up immediately

(Chris Tomasson on Twitter)

Ngakoue was not happy in Jacksonville. I hope that he doesn't bring the Vikings down with his issues.

Edit: this was actually from some dude calling himself "not Chris Tomasson", so ignore this as unreliable.

The 5th rounder becomes a 3rd if the Vikings win the Super Bowl. If that happens It will go down as one of the best trades the Vikings ever made.

If we were trying to win it all, we would have replaced Kirk Cousins at quarterback, or built a dominant offensive line in front of him. Neither has happened.
